willow990
im 21 and bought a 350z today, i had my insurance all in place from admiral for £130/month with my mum and dad being named drivers on the policy as it was cheaper. i arrived at the dealer payed for the car and rang the insurance to confirm and start the policy. the guy on the phone ran through the details etc. and checked my mums accidents/claims and it came up saying she had one in october last year. the short story is a woman reversed into her at the shops then drove off, she contacted the police and then they both came to an agreement, the end. now admiral want to charge me an extra £40/month for this, I tried taking my mum off the policy and that made it worse. I had no choice than to go through with it as I had to drive it home. just wondering if there is anything i can do? ive tried looking on confused, comparethemarket etc. but they still want over £200/month. any help would be appreciated, thanks! Ekona
She had a non-fault accident that has to be declared, not a lot you can do on that one I'm afraid. Either don't use Admiral, or suck it up. You may be better off paying it in one go but putting it on a credit card, then paying that off quicker than 12 months: Worth looking into, at least. What are you paying PCM now? Welcome along, btw! willow990
I cant really afford to pay it all off in one go, hence the monthly payments. I think its roughly around £167/month for 12 months so it works out about £1900. Its quite a bit more than what i was expecting from the original £1400 quote i had. Thanks a lot
Ekona
What I meant was, chuck it on a card and pay it off over 6mths if you can, will end up cheaper than using the insurance company's finance Even better if it's on a 0% card
HiddenWomble
Hola and welcome. Hold your breath for a year then see if some of the specialists on here will do you a better quote for next year. Not sure what age they start at but I do know there is little they can do until you have an accident free year of driving a car with similar power under your belt. They like the forum members as it gives the impression we care a bit more about our cars, so they can use that to lever cheaper prices for us. Jetpilot
Now you have taken it out your pretty much stuck with them for the year, if you cancel now they usually have some ridiculously low % you would actually get back. Make sure you mention the Nismo bodykit on the policy, would be an easy way for them to worm out of a claim.

veilside z
Sucks. Bite the bullet. You could always ask your mum for the extra on the premium
brillomaster
got any grandparents still driving? since i'm guessing they'll be as likely as your mum was to ever drive the car!
rabbitstew
got any grandparents still driving? since i'm guessing they'll be as likely as your mum was to ever drive the car! very true. Admiral are strange though. I added my parents to the insurance about 4 years back as it reduced the premium. However this year Admiral actually suggested I take them off the insurance as it would REDUCE the premium!

I am actually with Adrian flux at the moment on my turbo'd civic and they gave me a great deal with that. I have rang up twice though to get a quote for swapping over to my 350z and at first it was 3/4k then the next time it was just over 2k
