nowhereboy
First off I apologize for starting another thread but I'm in need of a quick answer and I've had no replies for over 24 hours on my other thread. I've read many good reviews on these tyres but I'm a little curious as too why they are so cheap? seems a little to good to be true. The 265 tyres are cheaper than the 245's which makes no sense to me and I just want to make sure I'm buying the right tyres. My current rear tyres have loads of tread left, they are sized at 245/45/18, they are currently stretched onto the 9.5J wheels. I'm planning on buying swapping these out to the front and buying some 265/45/18 tyres for the rear. Can someone just confirm thse are the correct tyres, I'm paranoid about buying the wrong ones http://www.tyreleader.co.uk/car-tyres/goodyear/eagle-f1-asymmetric-2/265-45-zr18-101y-301325
SteveM
messing with tyre sizes front to rear CAN cause problems with the traction control
StevoD
If your not changing the front Assuming there 225/45/18s i would suggest going with a 265/40/18 rather than a 265/45/18 Due a high possibility of it messing around with the VDC

nowhereboy
Just to confirm I'll be running 245/45/18 on the front and 265/45/18 rear. I currently run 225/45 and 245/45 and have no issues with TC, the only change is the width of the tyre.
brillomaster
you know the width of the tyre will also change its rolling diameter, as the profile is a percentage of the width? a 245/45/R18 tyre has a rolling diameter of 677.7mm a 265/45/R18 tyre has a rolling diameter of 695.2mm - which is a difference of 2.59% however, since you're changing the front as well, you shouldn't have problems with the TCS. as long as the rears are rotating at least 2.5% slower than the fronts, you'd be ok. most people have problems with the TCS when they fit a non staggered square setup - which means the rears rotate exactly the same speed as the fronts, which the TCS interprets as overspeed, or a wheel slipping. brillomaster
oh and P.S. I've just fitted a full set of GY Eagle F1s to my beemer, will report back in a while how they feel!
nowhereboy
Cheers, just ordered 2x 265/45. I'll be getting the fronts in the next couple of months or so but figured it's worth waiting until they need done as they still have a good bit of tread left. I'll report back once fitted. Fluke
I have been running Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2's for the past 12 months on a set of 19" 370z alloys fitted to my 350z. They have worn very well and have been great in the wet and dry.

mouthwash
Love my Eagle F1s, really good tyre. I think nowhereboy has a set of Rotas too for those offering advice on tyre size.
nowhereboy
Yup I'm running rota's 9.5j and 10j. I'm pretty confident I'll have no problems with TC, if I do I'll just turn it off anyway
nowhereboy
So here's the finished result, I've opted for 45 profile despite most peoples opinions of them I actually really like them, looks meaty.
Leosille
They're quality tyres had them on both my zeds one was sc and kept me planted and traction was never an issue
Zeezeebaba
I'm running these now and I'm pretty impressed with them.
nowhereboy
Awesome. Haven't had a chance for a drive out on them yet but I'll be taking the scenic route home from work tomorrow.
Jetpilot
Eagle F1 are a great tyre, always rated them
Sargara
I had a new set fitted to standard Rays in December followed by a 4 wheel alignment. They have been brilliant in all weather, road noise is fine and the wear rate seem reasonable too. Id buy them again happily.
nowhereboy
Had a good drive into work this morning, much more grip than the kuhmos I used previously. Interesting as I only paid 75 quid a corner
Exotic
Got the Eagle F1s on the rears, so much better traction and hardly ever wheel spin anymore. Can't wait until the FK452s on my fronts wear out so I can replace them as well.
tommoger
These are fantastic tyres in dry and wet conditions, can't recommend them enough
DarmoZ
So if money wasn't an issue, would you get the Michelin Pilot Super Sport instead? Im running stock tyres on my Zed from previous owner and I skid and wiggle in every slight corner when its damp/wet, I counter by being in higher gear as possible and gentle acceleration. Really want to get new tyres as its very unsafe and scary, I heard MPSS are the undisputed best money can buy, and also wear really well, is this true?
mdunbar
I'm running Michelin Pilot Super Sport on my Zed. Only done a few hundred miles since buying it, but they seem like a great tyre so far. No complaints at all.
nowhereboy
So it's time to buy the front tyres and I figured I'd update this thread. In hindsight 45 profile on a 265 seems a bit overkill for the Z, after driving my friends Z with smaller profile tyres I've realized the handling could be better with a lower profile tyre given the width of my wheels. So I'm now thinking about trying eagle f1 245/ 40's on the front as it's time to replace them. I'm still running the 265/45 tyres on the rear. Will it be best to just keep the profile at 45 all around and change next time I need tyres or is it ok to run 45 on the rear and 40 up front? brillomaster
don't think the TCS will mind, the rears will be rotating comfortably slower than the fronts, so that's fine. however will look somewhat funny! how long until the rears need replacing, roughly? if its a long way away that would mean the rears still have a decent amount of tread left, so i'd flog them and buy a new set of 265/40s to match the fronts.
