Gashead1105
Inspired by the pistonheads article earlier in the week, I realised that a 350z was an excellent sounding alternative to the ubiquitous M3 as my next everyday car. A chat with a mate who had one previously only strengthened the desire for one so I thought I'd join up and say hello. There are a couple of excellent looking cars in the for sale section I've spotted already but need to get rid of my Edition 30 Golf Gti first. Budget is c10k... I'm a member of a few other forums, mostly Lotus based but this looks a good one. Loads of information by the looks of things! Hope to get involved. Past car history comprises a number of hot renaults, a mini (which I hated) the golf and a couple of Exiges. Have a V6 Exige as my weekend car so the 350z would be my daily. Now, does anyone want a golf Gti?! Cheers Will

Gashead1105
So I just had a go in one that a local dealer has up on pistonheads. 2007 though not an HR model and he wanted HR money for it. Really liked it even so, interior felt and looked brand new. Couple of issues though - knocking noise at various points expecially when moving off. Is that the drive shift issue that I've read about on here? Also second gear felt quite notchy, do they all do that? One other question, clutch felt quite light which was nice but it had quite a high bite point and no evidence in the service history of it being changed. Something to worry about? Car has c43k on the clock. Liked it a lot otherwise!! Interior had no rattles, felt well built, lovely throttle response, nice enough steering although I took the exige up there so was a bit spoilt in terms of steering feel on way up... Really need to get the golf sold!

Really need to get the golf sold! clicky axle is a common fault on these and not to bad to fix, notchy 2nd is a sign of gearbox wear, which you should not get in a model of that year as they have the newer improved box, usually it is more noticeable when cold and goes when warmed up, 3rd and 5th often develop a crunch as the synchros start to wear but much more common in earlier models, at top money that one does not sound like a great buy so far! O and along That's the sort of helpful advice that explains why I joined up! They have a pretty good rep for other marques and the sales guy said they'd stick warranty it and fix the drive shaft click for example. The box was particularly noticeable when cold and got better once up to temperature - I think I need to drive a couple more basically.

Keyser
........................... - I think I need to drive a couple more basically. This definitely this Keep an eye on the Zed's for sale on here you get some awesome cars come up EDIT - Watch dealer fixes, or cheap fixes to the clicky axle which is basically take the shaft out grease it turn through 90 degrees and put back on, this can work for as little as a couple of months then come back, others have had more success depends how worn they are. Gashead1105
Exige V6 is an absolute weapon, hope the zed doesn't feel like too much of a let down! I really liked the zed. Exige is an entirely different animal, stupidly fast, loud, brimming with feedback - I absolutely love it but it's not something I want to drive everyday once the weather turns. The zed however was comfortable, quick enough, well built and had a better gear box action. A lot of car for the money basically and I want one. Dynamic Turtle
Interesting. I think my exige owning mates have been impressed with it too, although obviously it can't keep up with them through the twisties. The torque flatters bad/lazy driving. Have to say the lateral grip has nothing on a 320S on R888 (and now he's upgraded to a V6). Nothing can touch these machines on the rare occasion that they actually work. I hope your last sentence refers to the lotus rather than the zed. And from my experience it's not really accurate either, I had an S2 exige previously that was running 270 ish and I had no problems with it that weren't caused by myself, apart from the aircon which can be lived with. Above 300hp the gearbox is a known issue but at 270ish they are pretty strong cars. V6 has a warranty so I don't care if anything goes wrong!
