ziglo
Does anyone know if the wheel needs to be taken off in order to check wear on pads ? or can it be determined from checking with wheel still on ? My mechanic said it could do with rear pads but never took the wheels off to check (front or back) I chased him up last week on the pads and he said he was still to order the fronts although when I told him I thought it was just the rears he said I thought you wanted fronts changed aswell, obviously I don't know what does and doesn't need changed out which is why I asked him to check in the first place. So after this it made me think should the wheels need to be removed ?
ZMANALEX
Rear wheels should be taken off to check the inside pads. The rest are visible with the wheels on.
SHEZZA
Yes you'll need to remove the wheels to check the rear pad. Even if the front pad looks ok the rear one tends to wear out before the front.
ziglo
How is it possible to check front brakes as the caliper from what I can see completely shields the pad ? Thanks J

Thanks J Just open your eyes a bit more. PS: Are you running Brembo calipers or JDM. My comments are directed at a Brembo set up. JDM you will have to remove all wheels. ziglo
Nissan calipers not brembo, the calipers must be standard on a 2010 GT edition

370Ad
Yeah the Akebono brakes are a nightmare to check pad depth. Wheel off job unfortunately!
