AME in Silverstone get my vote.

Report him to the police for failing to stop and report it to your insurance company and give them his reg and the photos. Tell them he refused to give you details. Let them deal with it. Definitely don't let the ****er get away with it.

Just called the insurance company to get them to put the Lightened flywheel and stage 2 comp clutch on my policy and had the muppet on the other end of the phone telling me he couldn't find an "enlightened flywheel" on his system I had to repeat it about 10 times and spell it out for him, and he still called it an enlightened flywheel!!! He then asked me if a clutch was new technology that isn't in road cars... (Yes, it was an Indian call centre)

Congrats I'll give you a flash if I see you round Brackley

I have to put out a big thank you to Dan and Keiran at AME as they have seen quite a bit of my car the past couple of weeks. My clutch was slipping quite badly and needed to be replaced so I decided to go for something a little better than standard... So I had a stage 2 competition clutch and lightened flywheel put in. I wasn't completely happy with it after the first week (was fine apart from at low speed where it was juddering a bit) so I took it back for then to check and they replaced it totally free of charge. Feels absolutely lush right now. The second little incident I have suffered was a stone chip to the windscreen that started off as a 1" crack which had expanded to about 6" after 5 days of driving. After faffing about with the insurance company and both of their preferred windscreen suppliers offering me a new windscreen if I waited 6 weeks and 8 weeks respectively I decided to try AME to see if they knew anybody who could fix it for me. End result I now have a brand new windscreen in the car within a week (with most of the time being caused my be hassling the insurance company to get them to agree to pay for it). Very happt as the crack had expanded to about 14" by the time I got the windscreen changed. The insurance company gave me such helpful advice as don't worry it won't fall apart even if the crack reaches from one side to the other and the police won't care if they stop you.... I have to say that I'm currently one very happy customer and I'll definetly be going back there when I have some more cash to blow on the car (oops I hit 370 general instead of 350 general, can a mod move me please... Been a long day )

They provide a courtesy car to everybody apart from people with imports. I have paid extra for Hire car cover, but I will only get a hire car provided if my car is written off, and then only for a maximum of 21 days. If somebody hits me and it is repairable I am stuck without a car whilst they repair my car. I've not yet had fully comp insurance that doesn't provide you with a courtesy car whilst your car is repaired if somebody hits you...

Thought this may be useful as I've had a few issues so far. these are companies I would suggest people don't use due to the small print in the policies: Admiral/Elephant (Or any other company owned by the Admiral group I'm guessing) They have the following exclusion in the small print: Basically you never get a courtesy car despite that fact you are paying for fully comp insurance I'll add more to the list as I find problems

My rear tyres need replacing, which should I go ?

Using the T1R's here at the moment and they feel fine, not had them on long enough to properly compare against the pilot sports, but they are great so far (Pilot sports were great, just very expensive). -
There were a few floating around in Brackley at one point but I haven't seen any of the others for quite a while now (I have previously seen a Black Convertible, Blue Convertible, and a normal Silver one). Mines the Chilli Red one if you see it whizzing about Missed the beer festival this year, but its usually a good day out To be fair I don't spend much time driving around in Brackley, so I guess I'm not going to get see that often.

That being said what was the guy who posted it doing at the time?? W and P are on opposite sides of the keyboard!!!

What were you searching on ebay for to find "quality part porn"? um...

Once it has gone through SVA it counts up in miles (Not heard of them ever leaving it counting up in KM, not even sure that is possible...). You really want to look at the JUMVEA certificate. It will tell you how many KM the car had done when it was imported, assume that the rest are miles.

He wants how much for a 52 plate ???

You could buy some of these and then start selling silver and gold ones... http://www.preservationequipment.com/St ... e-Ink-Pens

I'll have to look at Adrian Flux and see what they offer. First Alternative don't sound so great if you had problems when making a claim. I'm really looking for a company that will just make life easy and deal with it if I ever have to claim. Touch wood I'll never have to claim (I have 10 years no claims atm), but if there are problems I just want the insurance company to fix my car and give me something to drive while mine isn't available and give me decent lawyers if it ever has to go to court so that if I'm not at fault I definitely win (Went to court as a witness for a mate when I was 19 and the lawyer they gave him was terrible. Despite having all the evidence backing him up she still managed to lose the case on the day...).

Well I've had a bit of a crappy time with insurance since I put the car back on the road. First of All Direct line decided they did not know my car was an import when I paid for the renewal (despite the fact I had a long conversation with them about it being an import when I originally took the policy out) and decided to double my insurance and tell me that I could not drive it unless I paid them the extra insurance straight away. So I did what any normal person would do and binned them. I got a nice new insurance policy with Admiral and then last week got a crack in the windscreen. It started off at about 2 inches and is now about 12 inches and I've been told I'm looking at 17th August, or a minimum of 10 working days for them to find out if they can provide a replacement. I phoned them up and had a few strong words this evening and suggested that if they cannot make my car roadworthy they should supply me with a courtesy car while mine is not drivable, and it came out that admiral do not provide courtesy cars if your vehicle was manfactured for sale outside the EC. So despite owninf a fully comprehensive insurance policy and paying extra for additional hire car cover to ensure I will have something to drive should the worst happen, it now transpires that I will never get a courtesy car from them if I am involved in an accident no matter who is to blame . Looks like another company to bin, anybody got any recommendations as I'm not going to have any hair left if this carries on....

Seriously don't do it: http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m ... _19074360/ Even disabled air-bags can potentially go off in a crash, it's just not worth the risk IMHO

I had a lady in a petrol station ask me if mine was a porsche just after I got it, totally standard JDM. She looked a bit sheepish when i told her it was a Nissan
-
I paid 12k for a 54 plate Chilli Red JDM with 22,000 miles on the clock about 2.5 years ago. It was a base model with 06 front and rear lights, however I found out afterwards that it had most likely had a rear knock which bent something on the subframe and that cost about £850~ to get fixed (Only just done in fact had it off the road for 15 months). Add to that the the cost of a set of tyres that feathered badly and had to be replaced and you're looking at a total of about £13k~
-
JDM so I guess I have some pain in store... Added a piccie of it.

I'm looking at getting hold of an ODB2 cable for the car pc that will eventually be plugged into the zed. Are there any gotcha's I should be aware of, looking at them they range from £10 to £80, not I'm quite happy with a £10 USB2 jobby, but not being that familiar with them I thought it was worth asking around before I waste my money.
-
After a little hiatus of about 13 months the Zed is back on the road A big thank you to the guys at AME in Silverstone who did a first rate job and fixed all the problems (I turns out my unusual tyre wear was due to a bent subframe . Current guess is that it had a rear ender in Japan ) and put up with my badgering. They got it all fixed in a week! It's feeling absolutely spot on right now. It also has some nice hydraulic bonnet lifters too now .

As a 54 plate owner whose car came into this country in 2007 and has to pay the higher rate i'm even more pi**ed off now
