350z in local auction 7/11/9, guess the price challenge!
Leeroy replied to NWZ's topic in 350Z General
No, you don't. Just need to register before you bid and you're away. Carried away sometimes There's usually a surprising amount of nice metal that goes through, it's not unusual to see Astons, Porsches etc. When I bought my car a year ago at auction a 2 year old 5 series went though for £12K Of course you have to accept that the history is pretty unknown, the best bets are ex lease cars which have usually had all services etc on the button -

I don't think it'll make 10 grand. £9,500. Don't be surprised if it's not there, I've gone along a few times with a view to bidding on a car that doesn't roll out -
I Like the overall shape, I think it has a bit of shooting brake about it. Don't like the 'L' shaped lights front or back. Love the back end generally - I agree with the 928 comment. I like the centred fog light too. Like the rear quarterlights, a bit Lotusish. Those rims are cool

I like torquey diesels (there, I said it ), apart from the smell and sound My 2p's worth: BMW 120d M-Sport or 3 series, preferably the 330cd which has the M-Sport bits on it. Any diesel from the VAG group should keep you happy as long as it's one of the bigger output ones (170bhp I think.) Chipping turbo diesels gives great results too. My money would be on one of the Beemers Leeroy.

There's a 3ds file here... http://artist-3d.com/free_3d_models/dnm ... ount=count The zip file is called '85-nissan-fairlady' but it looks like a 350Z to me I just downloaded it but I don't have Studio at work or even full AutoCAD so couldn't check it. I also found this 350Z Sketch-up model.... http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/ ... 2f4c47ee12 I tried to save it as a different filetype but it doesn't look like you can. Sketch-up's free though and you might be able to get the model looking half decent within it's limitations. Hope it helps

True, but I know someone who rolled a new Lotus on a trackday and stupidly wasn't covered on the insurance. A lot of money was paid to fix the car up but it wasn't reported. Not sure of the legality of doing that - I wouldn't want to buy it and an HPi wouldn't flag it up.
-
Do you guys rate the AA inspections? Are they worth £140 (member rate) for the basic check? I'm tempted to not bother but my only concern is that the car may be accident repaired and not recorded, which I'd hope the check would pick up. Obviously I'd get an HPi too....

UK car, GT Pack, Rays alloys, 53 reg £9,500 - SOLD :'(
Leeroy replied to Traktion's topic in Zeds For Sale
That's a truly great price Traktion, it's just a sign of the times and possibly a limited (Irish) market that it's not selling. The problem with comparing cars for sale on Autotrader is that everyone assumes that the cheapest represent market value, when in fact they're either not great examples, low spec or being sold by someone who needs to shift it really quickly. I'm after a non-GT but if a good value car like yours popped up in the Emerald Isle I'd seriously consider a trip over - what a great way to get to know your new car Good luck anyhow - be a shame if a dealer got it for peanuts off you -
It looks good, a logical update from the 350Z. Don't know much about the car, but I'm guessing it's another heavy one. At a time when manufacturers are reducing weight and/or power that would be lame. As has already been stated if everyone else can do it why can't Nissan? Better handling+lower emissions=happy drivers. Not keen on the lights if they are 'L' shaped. The blocky rear looks like it should have an engine there - now that would be cool

Had a bit of a spaz moment there - made a numpty assumption that ALL imports are tiptronic, which would make them p*ss easy to spot. Alas, no

Found these on Autotrader... http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/ww ... x_mileage= and http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/ww ... x_mileage= Look like manual imports, although the blue one could be UK with a Jap spec bumper on it? The silver one could be incorrectly advertised as a Fairlady?
-
Is it true that all UK cars are manuals, from when they went on sale to now? Makes spotting a genuine UK car even easier, I'm after a manual.....
-
Thanks everyone. Carbon cloth all the way for me then - I don't fit on the leather leccy ones Leeroy.
-
Ahh that explains it, it does appear to be just visible on the drivers seat. Was leather available as an option on cars with manual seats? Cheers fellas.....

Did the leather seat design change during the Zed's life so far? Just that the seats in this car seem different : http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/ww ... eage=80000 ....seem to be a simpler design than the ones I've seen, which have the 'lump' in the middle of the front of the seat, like this : http://images.forbes.com/images/2003/04 ... 15x311.jpg Anyone know what gives?
-
Wish I could fit on the leather seats, that looks great. Barjin.

I'ver signed it, and it looks Kosher. As a way of keeping tabs there are 23,431 signatures showing today. The increases are outrageous (esp the backdatedness aspect) but it's going to get a lot of car fans into some nice cars Prices are in freefall, so many misinformed (read stupid) people will be buying more expensive cars that fall into cheap tax categories, when they could buy a decent car cheap and offset what they save against fuel costs and the few hundred quid tax. Don't even get me started on the green cost of keeping a car running compared to building a new one
-
I've always been biased towards German cars, mainly for reasons of build quality. Strangely never fancied a BMW due to image and wanting to be let out at junctions occasionally Objectivity now rules and the 350Z ticks most boxes for me
-
Could of even got away with saying it was a VW Skoda would probably have had the desired effect

'I got banned for 21 days for doing 100mph+ on the M6 on my way to the NW run' What did you say to appease wiggy? "Sorry m'lud, I have seen the error of my ways and swapped my sports car for an 'Audi family' car"
-
Did you read the Evo GTR review. It was pretty positive. They write well about various type R's etc too. And of course they love the 350Z I can't comment on Porsche having never driven one, and it does get a bit dull when you get to the end of a review, shootout etc and 'Porsche wins again' but you have to say the Evo team know their cars. In fact they're most of the reason I'm getting a Z. They love the Panda 100HP though but it's not on my list yet Sorry, this turned into a bit of an Evo fanboy post - car fanboy not Evo fanboy
-
I seem to remember (can't be bothered to re-read) that he has owned one. If he's such an expert and writes for magasines I'm not sure why he spat the dummy & is venting his spleen so hard on an internet forum. It's good to hear un-biased views though, hope to be adding mine in the not too distant future

Have y'all seen this petition to No.10 against the unfair retrospective road tax? Here's a link if not : http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/UNFAIR-VED/ Maybe this could be made a sticky? The more signatures the better. Leeroy....
