  1. I saw a couple of grey Zeds in Yorkshire at the weekend, one GT in Grassington with Rays and than later on saw one with the Nismo kit on the A59 near Harrogate. Anyone on here?
  2. My key-fob remote signal has been getting weaker lately, I've had to get closer and closer to the car to unlock it. Being lazy I didn't replace the battery and when I went to unlock the car at the weekend nothing happened I got a new battery and tried it but still no joy so I'm assuming the fob needs reprogramming - is this normal when the battery goes flat? When I reprogramme it do i need to do the spare key remote too? That one is working fine thank fook.
  3. I need 4 new tyres for the Zed pretty urgently (going for Falken 452's or Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas incidentally) and am going to be in Yorkshire for the Easter weekend so need to get them fitted en-route. My route will be through Doncaster and across to the Skipton area. I checked Blackcircles out and Balby Tyres or a place on Oakwood drive (think it will be K. Butler's according to Google) look promising. Anyone used them? Failing that, recommendations for anywhere between Donny and Skipton would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance Leeroy...
  4. I did a search for this but couldn't find any info. I'm about to tax my car and wondered if there is any benefit of taxing it for 12 months, ie is the tax going to increase soon. I'm thinking that if the tax is due to go up in 7 months say, then i'll get 6 months now and tax it for a year next time to get in before the rate goes up Any thoughts?
  5. I noticed today that my drivers side window is dropping when driving along, enough to make the wind noise loud. When I press the 'window up' button it does go up and the wind noise stops but a few seconds later it drops again. I did a search but couldn't find this specific problem, any ideas?
  6. I'm sure Clarkson's opinion would be that he was busy in his bunk doing something or other
  7. Gotta love the sound of that V13, I prefer the sound of my old diesel Golf to a Lambo or Ferrari anyday of the week....euch to their own
  8. If the fact that an expensive sports car makes you look like a poser then yes, the Porsche brand is pretentious. The thing is that everyone slags off Porsche for being pretentious or common or the obvious choice for someone who wants to buy a car for image alone - the truth is that Porsche are on top of their game and make reliable cars that handle an go extremely well. I've never been a fanboy of any brand as I reckon you can end up cutting your nose off to spite your face. In fact I ended up buying the Zed by making a list of what I wanted from a car, RWD coupe, great engine, quick, good handling etc etc and came up with the Zed. There were other choices but with a budget of not much more than 10 grand the Zed won hands down for me. When I see a chap in an MX-5 or Boxter I just assume that he enjoys his driving
  9. Welcome from a fellow ex-GT TDi 150 owner The PD 150's not a patch on the Zed of course, but a quick sootchucker nonetheless. You won't be missing the torque too much with the Zed and you'll have a decent soundtrack to go with it! High miler UK GT's do crop up within your budget, don't be put off by import's though
  10. Now look what's happened, the poor guys been reduced to drinking on his own
  11. Get yourself this month's Evo magasine and turn to page 138 Ask and ye shall receive
  12. LOL, I know what you mean guys, it's a fairly cool sound but can get a bit irritating sometimes, I mean you can understand it on a stripped out rally racer...... Chris, what second skin sheet did you use, was it the Damplifier / Damplifier pro? How much of the stuff did you use? Cheers, Leeroy...
  13. I've had my Zed for a few weeks now and was wondering if it normal to hear so much gravel etc hitting the underside of the car, I guess it's stuff coming off the wheels. As far as I can see there isn't anything missing from under the car (wheel arch liners etc). I know there are options for insulating the inside of the boot area - does this help that much? Ta in advance.....
  14. That's a bargain if the rest of the car is good, bodywork and wheels sorted and you're still looking at well under £10K
  15. I always thought it was "furry muff" It should never be that...... I always think there's something deeply disturbing about a man who prefers the ultra-smooth Brazillian approach................only children are hair free I would have thought it makes perfect sense reading the comments in this thread - less chance of rogue hairs in the car and all that
  16. Did you try to pair it with the ignition switched to the first click? I think you need to do this before starting the engine but I'll stand corrected if not....seemed to work for me last week
  17. +1 for the XC90. Or a Grand Voyager... http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/ ... &logcode=p
  18. Thanks for the comments and welcomes guys It's the later GM900 (unfortunately) but it's quick as it's reasonably light. I've been offered a remapped ECU (for 50 notes, exchange part!!) which is an easy diy fit job and takes it from 185bhp to 230 which is awesome for next to no outlay. But it hates corners so I'd need to invest there too - I think the cash is better spent on the Z
  19. Jeez, it was two years wasn't it! At least it was worth it The sootchucker is a term of endearment 350 giZ, I had the GT TDi 150 and while I hated the way it sounded, I did like the way it went I just need to decide whether to sell the SAAB 900 Turbo 'hack' that was supposed to be a temporary car.... Anyhoo, I put a couple of crappy camera pics into my gallery gallery/album.php?album_id=150 And before you say it Sarnie.......I know it does
  20. A quick (belated?) hello. Been loitering here for awhile and after a year of postponing my Z plans, buying a Golf GTi sootchucker, then trying to find one in the right spec I finally got one. It's a black on black GT with Rays Thanks for all of your help and suggestions, the info here was invaluable when looking at cars

    roofbox

That looks great, has anyone used one? Be nice to be able to strap a surfboard to the car.

Good plan - and you have the opportunity to buy an entertaining shed while you search for the new car. I'm currently knocking around in a temporary SAAB 900 Turbo
  23. Can you stretch to another £500 for an RX8? It'll be high miles but there are some nice ones about, a mate of mine just sold his 96K miles 2004 fully loaded car for £4,700 which seemed good value to me. I'm sure you're aware of the negatives and positives of the RX8.... Here's one... http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/ ... &logcode=p
