    Caliper paint

I need some gold touch-up paint for my calipers, I've tried contacting someone on here who was offering pots and a few here bought some but he seems to have gone AWOL. I'm just about to buy a scratch amster kit off Paints4u and wondered if anyone's bought the gold caliper paint off them?
  6. Same comments as everyone else, call Nissan and any garages that have worked on it to get history copies but go in nice and low - maybe offer £6K max That way if there are any problems you shouldn't lose out too much if you need to re-sell. The seller will have a right job on shifting it with cr*p history, especially as good cars seem to sell slowly at the moment. So you might end up with a bargain. I would be offering different advice if you were spending the going rate though. I'm sure you know that running costs will be more than a £6K hatch, and that just because it's cheap it doesn't mean that cheap aftermarket tack is allowed Good luck!
  7. The Zed clock is self adjusting, you just need to wait until the clocks go back/forward again
  8. Hey Scubapics, which BMW black do you have? Halfords has a fair few
  9. Bit of a thread resurrection here, I need to sort the stonechips out on my Kuro and found this most excellent guide from Scubapics He recommends BMW 'black' paint from Halfrauds and I've just been on the website - there are a few blacks, anyone know which is the best match for Kuro? I'm guessing Jet Black?
  10. Chris, you could try this stuff : http://www.frost.co.uk/item_Detail.asp? ... ame=Langka Chip Repair (2 oz) Basically you fill the chip with touch up paint and use this stuff to flatten the paint blob before it hardens, I can't remember how long for. Then apply lacquer (or langka supply a sealant if you want it) to seal. I'm keen to try this on the Zed, I've seen good results on an Impreza on a forum some where but can't find the link now....
  11. A bit of an update, I finally got a chance to get the wheels off the car yesterday to inspect the bushes (ooh err missus!) and it's actually the bush on the transverse link where the suspension strut mounts to it that's split. It doesn't look any worse than it did for the MOT a few weeks ago but I want to change it soon. Can anyone recommend a bush for this instead of a stock one? I don't want a harder ride though Also, any ideas on a ball park garage cost for this? Cheers
  12. You learn something new everday Is petrol a Veblen good then?
  13. After hearing good things about Spit & Polish I got a quote - £66.75 + vat per wheels (Rays 18"). Probably not the cheapest but worth it if the finish stays good for at least a couple of years. I'll be taking mine to them soon, just need to decide whether to buy some temporary wheels to put on or just take the car to S&P and leave it with them. Strikes the fear of God into me, does that
  14. The ones with reds inserts would look very nice on a black car Wonder how the reds would look on an orange car?
  15. cheers mate it looks like I will be putting in an order then. You've used it? I thought you were part of the mafiosa. Also, how does one go about warming up pot? Just stick it at room temp for a few hours and it is easier. Sorry, guys I couldn't resist it
  16. Chris, I'd recommend any VAG car with the PD 150 engine at that price...
  17. Have you checked http://www.blackcircles.com/ I normally use them and they've found the cheapest tyres/fitting. You can do some detective work to find the fitting centre - they don't give a name but they do give a postcode. I bought some RE050's a year ago and they were £640 for the set IIRC - £175 each for the rears.
  18. If that's what you get for helping people I'm keeping stum in future
  19. There's a reprogramming guide here viewtopic.php?f=35&t=15966 I followed it and could reprogramme one key, but the other then lost it's code so I went around in circles but I'm sure I must have missed a step out. In the end a very kind Nissan GTR tech did it for nowt when i was in buying a locking wheel nut key
  20. Same, I havent got a clue what I pay per litre, I just fill up and play. Hatterjon, corrected your post for you Mine doesn't get used much unfortunately so just fill 'er up before a journey or when she's about empty. Kept it brimmed when it was icy mind....
  21. Good heads up on the shows Whatshot, I'll check out those exibitors. As always Sarnie, I bow down to your financial expertise After looking at this over the last couple of days though (and I might be wrong, it has been known ) some lenders do seem to lend on the existing house/property AND provide the necessary funds for renovation. Albeit that the renovation funds seem to be released in stage payments (advance or arrears) once pre-decided elements are complete. Buildstore are a bit pricey at 5-6% though. Ecology Building Society (energy efficient builds) are a better option by the looks of it, at 4.9% with a reduction of between 0.5% and 1.5% depending on the 'greeness' of the build when finished. One of the main problems seems to be that they want to see planning consent (WARNING! WARNING! LISTED BUILDING!!! ) and architectural drawings in order to put a value on the completed house. The drawings are easy as I can do them myself but the planning will take a couple of months to get through and we won't be buying the house until I know I can do what i need to, so it's at our risk...
  22. Does anyone have any info on self-build type mortgages? We're looking into doing a renovation and need some hefty sums upfront in addition to the house purchase itself. The high street lenders can't help unfortunately, we've got an awesome rate with Woolwich on our current house I've looked into various options but it seems the market has shrunk somewhat - the most likely candidate at the moment is Buildstore but I'm keen to see if a broker can help reduce costs for us by going direct to the lenders... I'm guessing this might be a good one for a particular member on here
