  1. Brilliant, I didn't know Crocodile Dundee drove a Supra I'm going to stick up for London here. In my experience the general standard of driving is actually fairly good, as it is in most big cities. It might be intimidating to some but at least people make decisions and keep it moving, unlike some of the more relaxed driving in provincial towns (whether or not they're 'up north'). What is unacceptable is people hurling unecessary abuse (Coke cans is OK mind ) at other road users and I can understand Coldel reaching breaking point and going to have a word with the other driver, sometimes people need putting back in their box - maybe we should start calling him Michael Douglas Don't get me wrong, I'm not from London and will be moving back to my hometown 'up north' sooner or later but London's an awesome place and I've loved the 8 years or so that I've lived here, partly because I don't need to drive anywhere Most of my friends and family have used the "ooh I love London for a weekend but could never live there" line, but it's a great place if you have a job you enjoy and a decent social life. I wish I had a decent road less than 20 mins away though

    Exhaust weights

So if it's pounds then a centre pipe and backbox weighs 20kg. Pretty heavy, wish I'd put the Scorpion on the bathroom scales now Weight info on aftermaket S/S exhausts would be handy for the forum, especially as the only gains will be power to weight for most unless the car is re-mapped....

    Exhaust weights

Does anyone have any info on 350Z exhaust weights? I just fitted a Scorpion and I know it isn't going to make any difference to the handling but am interested to know what it weighs compared to the stock exhaust...
  4. I was at a Peugeot dealer this weekend having an exhaust fitted, and borrowed an RCZ while the work was being done. It's not a car that I (or probably anyone here) would aspire to, but I've read good things about it, particularly in Evo and was keen so see how it drove. I only had it for an hour or so mind, but I thought I'd give my opinion. First off, the clutch is really light, clearly the controls have been designed to be easily used by the sort of people who generally buy a...well....mainstream coupe. Backing this up is the button right in the middle of the centre console to pop the rear boot spoiler for posing - although be fair I did play with it few times The steering is twirly light at parking speeds but actually weights up nicely once you're pressing on and press on I did - at around 3500-4000rpm in 3rd/4th (on boost) the thing shifted really well. The rest of the time it felt a bit 'breathless' and engine braking seemed non-existant (the engine is the 197bhp 'Mini' unit). 1st and second gear are very short so pulling away from rest is a bit of a chore. Grip was excellent and feel through the wheel was impressive, very neutral on corners. Weight transfer was dealt with well too, it was fun to thread through the bends on my local B-road and the brakes were excellent. The exhaust note was good too and would be even better with an S/S item, apparently there's a new dealer option to add another 2 exhaust tips to the right hand side which would give 4 tailpipes and improve the already good looking back-end. That brings me neatly onto the styling. I like it (there I said it!) but the front end is all wrong. Peugeot made a major ****-up using the current generic Pug front end - they did so well with the rest of the car, double bubble roof and all. Apologies for the crappy 'phone pics. The interior was alright too. You can see why the top spec GT comes in at only £25K though, there's a fair bit of hard plastic, but it was offset by the leather trimmed dash on the car I drove. The back seats are unusable unless you're a dwarf or 3 years old. All in all it's a good thing to drive and it was fun to be managing slip and oversteer at the front after driving a RWD. As I said to the sales chap, it's not ballsy enough for me but it might make sense as a second car for the other half. I'd definitely consider one if I was in the unlikely position of looking at TT's.
  5. I had a Scorpion fitted last weekend, new backbox and centre pipe fitted to existing OEM y-pipe - no issues at all, the diff shield didn't foul. It's a 2004 UK car. The tips are fairly thin though - fine once fitted but be careful they don't get damaged in transit or during fitting.
  6. see if you can stand nearby and watch I couldn't face it Actually, they did a sterling job I'm pleased to say. I even managed to blag an RCZ while the car was being worked on. The Scorpion sounds awesome, it actually SOUNDS like a V6 now
  7. They might be spinning but not enough to course any alarm i.e coming out of a junction putting your foot down and not going saideways or the backend kicking out at all? Nothing wrong with the tyres slipping a little as long as it's all under control? suppose it's all down to experience and if you want to take the risk +1 The 350Z, whilst not the last word in precision handling is a sweet thing to hustle. I personally think that practising driving without TCS makes for a more rounded driver and may even save your ass one day. When I was a yoof I used to go fishing a lot, which gave ample opportunity to practise handbrake turns on the dirt tacks around the lakes - it taught me a lot about car control. I'm not condoning big skids on public roads but driving with TCS off makes a driver a hooligan not
  8. Beautiful white 260Z spotted on Tweedy Road near Waitrose....
  9. Awesome, cheers guys I'm gonna stick with the Pug garage, I'm struggling to get in anywhere else at short notice. I'll be making sure he does it properly, even if it means checking it under the ramp when he's done. What a muffin.
  10. I've decided to take the plunge and fit a Scorpion exhaust, can't wait to get it fitted on saturday. I've asked here about how easy they are to fit and apparently they aren't anyhing out of the ordinary and any old Mr Exaust/Tyres type place will breeze it. The problem is I've just had a call from the Peugeot Garage where it's booked into (i get a friends and family rate) and the 'technician' is a bit nervous about fitting it. As far as I know the only other bits I may need in addition to the exhaust is a gasket between the y-pipe and centre pipe and that the heat shield may need removing if it's in the way. I have a gasket on the way, is there anything else I might need to know, I want to pre-empt any issues.... Thanks in advance Leeroy...
  11. Agreed. I used to spend a fair bit of time on there but there are too many people on it who are up their own cracks, I guess the forum's so huge that there'll always be a few trolls but I lost patience
  12. Definitely, they aren't 'that' much bigger than a 1 Series - at least it will have a boot you could actually get something in 330cd - http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/ ... ?logcode=p
  13. Yeah but a daring move for Scuey normally equates to taking the other driver out
  14. I don't think he's arrogant. Hamo on the other hand... Button had the racing line and was always on it and always moving over. Just because someone has more drive off a corner doesn't mean they get a free ticket past. The Heidfeld and Kobayashi thing was similar but Hamilton had more time to think. I like Button, when he's on it he's really on it. He's just too inconsistent - a bit like Webber. It was good to see Vettel under pressure for a change....
  15. Haha, eclectic? I'm a yellowbelly and I'm heading back oop north in the not too distant, does that mean I'll be eclectic too? Edit: I'm half asleep, you did say electric 'Baggie Eclectic works for me though. I'm off to get a coffee from the ELECTRIC coffee machine
  16. Thanks for the info guys, I wish there were more specialist outfits in that area along the lines of Abbey, DMS, Japex etc
  17. I'm after the exhaust fitting but am up in Lincoln fairly often so it would be good to know if there's a garage in the area who has some Zed knowledge generally. I have a good local Lincoln garage that I have used for other cars but they may not be up to speed with the nuances of some Zed bits..... I tend to use specialist independents where possible but do price main dealers to keep 'em honest.... All recommendations appreciated!!!!!
  18. Can anyone recommend a garage near (within an hour) Lincoln who have worked on their pride and joy? I'm looking to get an exhaust fitted and may need to work it into an upcoming trip north...

    Wanted, exhaust.

Hello all, I need a new exhaust mid section and back box as mines self destructed in the usual way. Ideally stainless, but I will consider the stock exhaust too (must be in great condition). Cheers, Leeroy...
  20. Awesome, thanks for the great advice guys. The process of freeing up capital for the new purchase makes more sense now. Ricey's 'further advance' option looks good as we've got a low tracker on our current mortages and would like to retain it (1% over base rate). If we did this though, would the mortgage be classed as BTL or resi, and does that affect the mortgage on the second house - ie would we get a mortgage on the new house if we already have a resi mortgage (albeit agreed with current lender that it's a rental)? Hope this makes sense
  21. We've had our house on the market for 4 or 5 months, with lots of viewings and a few low offers but it's still for sale. I previously posted about buy to let mortgages but ruled it out due to high deposits required. It seems that these are being reduced and that a depost of 25% may be possible with a 5% interest rate. If this is the case we may be able to buy the house we want AND keep the current one for rental. If the current house was now worth £220K, we had paid £40K of the mortgage off, and it had increased £40K in value since we bought it, we'd have £80K equity. We could get about £20K of savings together. As an example for discussion, we'd be looking to spend about £220K on the new house. I'm just a bit confused about how we free up cash for the 2 mortgage deposits. How does the BTL mortgage work, in terms of deposit etc - would the new mortgage necessitate a 25% deposit of the current value (£220K)? I'm confused about this because it's seems like we'd be buying the house off ourselves for £40K more than we paid for it! All advice appreciated, if possible it would be good to see it laid out as an idiot's breakdown for the BTL (on current house) and standard repayment mortgage (on new house). Cue Sarnie
  22. I'm in the same boat, the Scorpion seems to tick all my boxes, what else is there that's similar? Is the K2 much noisier? I don't want chav. I do want something thats sounds stock(ish) at tickover but good when you give it the beans I know this has been done to death but I'm struggling to find a simple comparison thread.....

    Scorpion

I'm looking at changing my stock exhaust for a Scorpion which seems a popular choice here. These guys seems to have the best deal, although it doesn't say exactly whats included (ie mid pipe and backbox). http://www.performanceexhaustsdirect.co ... haust.html Has anyone used them?
  24. Nice choice I looked at these when I got the Zed, stupid power for peanuts - I just couldn't get past the image either. Definitely a modern classic though How balanced is it in corners?
