  1. Maybe was just after a bitch-slapping
  2. The waterproof pouches look good, like this one .... http://store.magicseaweed.com/Aquapac-K ... tem/13571/ And you get a free car key, a tenner and a credit card, awesome. The other option might be to get a key blank cut which doesn't have a transponder, then leave the main keys in the car. Admittedly you'd have to leave the alarm off which isn't ideal Actually, to ensure the car is alarmed, could you ; a) lock the car/set alarm with the proper key throw the keys in the glove-box, close the door c) go surfing with your freshly cut key 'blank' d) come ashore and unlock with the 'blank', setting off the alarm e) Grab the proper key and turn off the alarm? f) Enjoy those awesome Cornish coast roads The lockboxes worry me a bit. And the thought of thieving cornish chav crabs getting hold of my keys scares me witless
  3. To be honest, it irritates me when people do this where lanes converge. It isn't up to the car in front to dictate road conditions to other drivers - the driver behind 'should' be aware of the situation. If some mongtard decides he really wants to be in front of you there isn't much you can do about and you end getting wound up by pre-empting these numpties actions. I'm not saying that you did wrong, just that it winds me up when people do it in front of me. The other week I was behind a div in a BMW E38 7 Series (lovely looking example actually) on the M25 who was going too slow in the outside lane. Eventually I got past him and he decided it was race time and did his best to get past me, he didn't care which lane he was in so long as he got past. After awhile I realised I was getting pretty stressed out and let him by, whereby he slowed down again sitting in the outside lane with clear inside and middle lanes. He will always be a *****, no matter whether people rise to his actions or not.
  4. Bugger, I've had keys previously that you can get wet and it's really handy for surfing - looks like it's waterproof bag time or sandy burial then
  5. I'm off surfing in a couple of weeks and was wondering if it's OK to take the valet key in the sea? Is there any electronic gubbins to get wet? I don't fancy hiding the key in a bush which I usually do.....
  6. My exhaust failed in the same spot recently and it was the second time it happened - the first time was a year ago when I fitted a used back-box. I got a Scorpion a few weeks ago and it sounds great, they're about 375 notes delivered. Muted enough at low revs pootling around but throaty when you give it the beans. The best bodge is to cut off the flange and weld a new sleeve on and will probably cost between £50-100 - the OEM exhaust is mild steel so it will weld if it isn't too rotten. Expect to do it again in a year or less though....
  7. You're right Stew, I love checking out Bristols
  8. It's a fugly GDMFSOB, looks like a yank tank
  9. That's a pretty radical solution Rich! Couldn't you just suggest killing off or neutering a few chavs and habitual troublemakers? I've been following this debate with interest, partly because I have friends who work for Central and Local government who in my opinion have had an easy ride in past years. Things like travelling first class on expenses and clocking off at 5.30 on the dot regardless irk me somewhat, but hey, if they can get away with it good luck to them (naive I know, as we're paying for it). However now that their salaries are being frozen, expenses are being carefully monitored and they're having to re-apply for jobs they're up in arms. Public spending needs to be reduced and I just hope that the right sectors are targeted. Teachers and their pay packages should be assessed carefully though, because quite simply they're setting the foundations for the UK's future. I don't see why their pensions should be any more rewarding than the private sector, but salaries should be high enough to attract good quality people. My job is unsecure at the mo, and I've had issues with late salary payments and this is unhappily common at the moment. Why shouldn't the public sector feel some pain too? I say you should strike Rich - hopefully the govt will take teachers more seriously and any reductions in pensions will only be to realistic levels given what's happening in the wider economy.
  10. How about the ones on this Micra Here's the link to the article http://autospeed.com/cms/title_14-Secon ... ticle.html They're noted as being ANZ Rio rims.....
  11. I remember some years ago I used to buy loads of motoring magazines including Motor, Autocar, etc. Although the exact details escape me I do recall an article in one of them in which 2 identical cars were driven across France, one was given the brief to drive sensibly, stick to the speed limits, etc, the other one was to drive in a spirited manner. Over 300 or so miles only 15 minutes separated them at their destination. At the Wales II meet last year, together with Darren who was acting as rear gunner, I got stuck behind 2 slowish moving vehicles while the other Zed's roared away into the distance, I didn't see any of them after mile one till I arrived back at the hotel, they'd been there for a whopping 2 minutes and TBH I just plodded along for 60 miles or so. Colin was leading the main bunch so they wouldn't have been hanging around Pete I don't think speed in this context is about getting from A to B quicker. I didn't buy a reasonably powerful sports car just so I could save 2 minutes on my journey to Tesco - it's a crying shame if people own cars like ours and don't enjoy the performance and speed (not necessarily 'speeding' ) is part of that. Boasting about it on a public forum is childish though, the fella obviously feels he has something to prove......
  12. These look like a must have bit of kit for around a tenner - Andlid, is the ELM 327 the one to get for the 350Z? The car isn't listed in the ebay ad.
  13. I had that problem too when I was looking for a hatch a couple of years ago, I wanted an R26 but the better half wasn't having the rump
  14. There will of course be a code for the colour (probably a RAL number) but most re-furb places will just match the colour by eye - most silvers are common specs. They should have samples which you can compare against though, for your peace of mind. You might even be tempted to get them powdercoated a different shade or even colour.
  15. I've just fitted a Scorpion stainless exhaust which are popular on here for a budget (ish) exhaust. They're about 375 notes and the sound is subtle but brings the V6 out nicely, I'm really pleased with it. The stock exhaust sounds lame in comparison.
  16. If and when I have a need for a hatch sized car I'd be looking seriously at the Renaultsport stable too. As a default choice the MKV Golf GTi is a good option (or Seat equivalent) and that goes for the VAG diesels too. For something bigger I'd probably look at BMW's.
  17. Neither I guess you don't mean 'profit' - it'll depreciate like any other car (or worse!). I'd say a GT or equivalent JDM spec Coupe will be easier to sell on, simply because soft-tops have a limited window to sell in our balmy climate. UK models may be slightly more saleable too.
  18. As a designer (and car fan) I don't agree, there are plenty of good looking boxy coupes out there. This for instance.....
  19. That's not necessarily true Ekona, the official definition, coutesy of Wikipedia is ; 'A coupé or coupe (from the French verb couper, to cut) is a closed car body style (permanently attached fixed roof), the precise definition of which varies from manufacturer to manufacturer, and over time. Coupés are often hardtopped sports cars or sporty variants of sedan (saloon) body styles, with doors commonly reduced from four to two, and a close-coupled interior (i.e., the rear seat placed further forward than in a standard sedan) offering either two seats or 2+2 seating (space for two passengers in the front and two occasional passengers or children in the rear). Before the days of motorized vehicles, the word referred to the front or after compartment of a Continental stagecoach.' The world would be a poorer place if designers stuck to one formula but I think the Mini designers were tripping when they drew that coupe up I like boxy coupe's - the 90's Merc coupes don't follow the flowing lines formula but still look great (in my opinion!).
  20. I wasn't suggesting you're a stalker!
  21. Abbey have a great rep too, but they're further away from the man.
  22. I rate Dixon Motorsport (DMS) over in Erith, they do the P1 for £180 inc VAT. Here's a link to their current offers viewtopic.php?f=122&t=46428
  23. Leeroy

    Exhaust weights

Well that drizzled on my shizzle, I was hoping it might weight about 2kgs
  24. "No matter where you are, no matter where you are going, adventure will find you." This pretty much sums it up, complete cack. There isn't an upside to this car (in fact it looks like it's been turned upside down a couple of times) it's just sh*t. It's a great shame when a company like BMW, who makes great cars (including the 'normal' Mini) spends a fortune to create these spin-off abominations. Why can't they create something with 'Mini' DNA that actually looks good as a coupe? It doesn't need to be a stretched or squashed version of the normal car, people aren't that stupid. Maybe they think that Porsche have kinda made the formula work and they can too? Another Mini which will be bought by people who think it's cool but know bog all about cars, at least it should drive well
