Hi all,
Just a quick one... Which towels do you guys use to dry your car?
I bought one of these from Halfords but it never covers the whole car.

Once I've dried the bonnet, roof and rear window it's water logged and it's never as good after a good wringing... I usually end up grabbing a microfiber to finish the job.
Any recommendations?

Hi Craig,
I was also frustrated with my skipping Bose not to mention having every cubby stuffed with CD cases... I wanted a trusted brand (but not too expensive) so I went for this;

Have a read of this too, thanks to RobQ as I followed this guide and had no dramas
Cheers,

Aftermarket should be fine

Hey good luck with this Paul.
We might need to form an orderly queue if this works

Hi guys,
I'm hoping one of the detailers can help me out here...
If you look at pictures of the Gilmour on the internet the version 1 seems to be missing the little black 'attachment' that screws to the handle and attaches to a hosepipe / hoselock system. The version 2 seems to have this 'attachment.'
I have the version 1 and I am trying to source said part but the UK suppliers have informed me that the Gilmour is supplied as a boxed package only - i.e. no spares available.
Can anyone point me in the right direction? I have tried Google, Ebay and detailing forums but no luck. Homebase or gardening centres might be my next stop.
Thanks,
Matt

I'll take one

+1 for the centre dash.

Looks good mate.
Years ago I polished the cover on 106 GTI using one of these;

I attached it to a regular hand drill and I got a mirror finish
You need to apply a really light touch if you're using a high rpm drill. It's worth a go for 7 quid...
In fact 'click' I've just bought one

This sounds like a really interesting project, it would be great to see this documented on the forum

That sounds quite expensive buddy.
Have a read of Pingu's thread regarding the Haltech;

Thanks Guys,
My ones are the EX ESR stock - not Samco, but look exactly the same. I think I will get the samco hose clamps for peace of mind
Jim - Yes I did bleed the system, I put the front on axle stands as I was using a large bucket. If you had a tray or something more suitable to collect to the coolant the axle stands would not be required. I also found it easier to attack the lower hose from under the car but this will mean removing the plastic tray under the engine. I hope that helps!

Hi Guys,
I had some fun and games fitting my aftermarket coolant hoses at the weekend…. When fitting the new hoses I discovered that the aftermarket ones are thicker than the Nissan ones (i.e. the internal diameters are the same but the external diameters are slightly greater). I didn’t think this would be a problem….
So, before I clamped the new hoses in place I performed a 'trial fit’ to the various radiator and engine mounts and they fit perfectly. When I tried to use the OEM hose clamps I had to fully compress them and use plenty of WD40 (and cursing) to get the clamps on the new (thicker) hoses. Sadly the internal diameters of the new hoses were compromised (by the OEM clips) and would no longer fit over the engine / radiator mounts. I tried using mole grips to fully compress the clips but the inside of the new hoses were visibly out of shape.
Covered in grim at about 3pm on Sunday I took the bus to my nearest Halfords and bought some jubilee clips to mount the hoses. The three pipes are now fitted (and on nice and tight) but I'm worried about the pressure blowing a hose off...
Has anyone else fitted aftermarket hoses and how was the fit? Do you think the jubilee clips will do the job??
Thanks,
Matt

Try MJP,
Their site is a bit basic but they're very helpful and can usually source Nissan parts at a discount.

+1, really nice looking Z buddy.
I don't usually like gold wheels but they really suit your car

This post is also useful;

It is possible to remove the bumper without removing wheels (see the post from Beavis) but it's a tight fit. If you have the space I would remove the wheels...
It's quite simple, even for someone like me who sits in an office all day

People 'in the know' would notice the best mods in my opinion.

Ings for me buddy, it looks good on the Sunset especially with the splash guards.
I think the V2 might look a bit much without a kit etc... Just my 2 pence worth though...
-
It does look like one of those dodgy kits you would find in the back max power

Hey Jim / T2,
I've thought about doing this too (and removing the dimples) but I don't fancy taking wet and dry to my dashboard
It might be easier to buy a cheap dash kit like this one and paint that??
Just a thought...

Thanks everyone, that's quite a debate I started!
I've heard good things about the Meg water magnet and waffle weave, the patting sounds like a good idea too. My neighbours think I'm mad and my girlfriend hates my so another step can't do any harm!
"this can't be another weekend that's all about the car'
'oh yes, it can'
