Supercharged 350Z GT (UK Car) £15995 *NOW SOLD*
ZMANALEX replied to m3woody's topic in Zeds For Sale
I seriously think your under estimating how important engine shots are to potential buyers of a supercharged zed +1 and with the information about mileage since, which professional outfit did it etc., you are selling something a bit different and those that don't know need a nudge that it is well done, professional etc. I also think that a copy of Abbey Motorsport's Dyno numbers would also help big time. Abbey run a Dynapack Chassis Dynamometer so the hp numbers will be from the hubs. Like the rest of the guys say, any potential buyer will want to see this stuff. -
Sonny, I ran the Rotrex system in the Purple Sumo 350Z [Hercules] for around one year and it was extremely reliable and very quiet as it runs planetary rollers instead of traditional toothed gears. I ran it on standard internals @ at a safe 365 bhp with standard belt pulleys. At the same time on my other Zed I was running an ATI Procharger C2 but that is a story for another day. You should find all the information that you require @ www.rotrex.com but in the meantime find below a brief summary. The HKS Rotrex Supercharger Kits for the 350Z are the only s/c forced induction systems for the aftermarket from HKS. The centrifugal type supercharger features a unique traction drive, with a closed oil circulation system. The traction drive utilizes fixed ratio planetary rollers that are more efficient then traditional gear-wheels. Because the planetary rollers do not have teeth like traditional gear-wheels noise is decreased and reliability is increased. The closed oil circulation system cycles a specially-formulated Traction Oil that lubricates and cools the supercharger, dramatically increasing longevity and reliability. The Traction Oil is cooled through a liquid to air oil cooler included with each kit. All HKS Rotrex Supercharger Kits are developed as complete bolt-on systems. For certain applications HKS will include a front-mount air-to-air intercooler, Super Mega Flow intake, Bypass Valve, additional injectors, upgraded fuel pump and S/C Fuel Computer. Also included with each kit is a high-performance cast aluminum bracket which has been precisely engineered to reduce noise and vibration. Kit Overview Manufacturer HKS Application 2003-2005 350Z Base PSI 7psi Base Power 315hp Base Torque Compressor Rotrex C30-94, HKS Turbine, Centrifugal with planetary friction rollers Intercooler Air-to-Air front mount intercooler (1/2 width) Piping Mandrel bent aluminum intercooler piping, Cast aluminum intake tube. Fuel Upgraded fuel pump, 2x 525cc add-on injectors (inside plenum) EMU HKS_FCON_S (direct plug harness) Air Filter HKS Super Mega Flow Intake Filter Blow Off Valve HKS Standard Bypass Valve Rotrex C30-94 Centrifugal SuperchargerThe HKS Rotrex kit for the 350Z is built around the latest Rotrex roller-driven superchargers. HKS has swapped out the compressor in favor of their own turbine housing and wheel. Hope this helps, Cheers, Alex.

If you do not change the internals then you will have to run low boost and low torque.
-
Firstly, what power/torque/boost are you looking to run ?
-
That is the plan Stew, my name is down but I unfortunately can not confirm as yet but will let you know asap. Supposed to be in FYR Macedonia that week end.
-
Guys, this is much more complicated than it first appears. HKS are only providing the parts that are listed in the link in the initial post and this will only provide a BASIC FOUNDATION OF PARTS FOR YOUR OWN BESPOKE SET UP. There are many more parts required to complete this set up and that will depend on what power / torque you wish to run. Anything above 400 hp will require an internal forged rebuild. You will require to run VPro, VPro loom, upgrade the fuel pump and fuel pipe return and fuel rail set up, injectors, fuel bypass regulator, induction pipes will have to manufactured, air filters, oil cooler, radiator, intercooler, boost controller, extra gauges, wide band commander air fuel ratio monitor, suitable exhaust system, dump valve, uprated clutch.....the list goes on and on....The above is just off the top of my head and in no specific order.....Then brakes and suspension will required sorted.....Mapping £500 +.... You are asking for guideline prices, well here you go, remember I have personally done this so the numbers are for real. If you want to run sub 400 hp then you will get no change from 10K. If you want to run around a safe 600 hp and 600 lbs ft like me, then you will require 20K+ and that will not be the end to your spending. Hope this helps, but it really is a mine field with loadsa hidden costs/extras and the decision to go fi should not be taken lightly. Cheers, Alex.
-
You will require much more than a suitable intercooler if you run with this kit.
-
Yip, Got to agree. The HKS Turbos are the way to go. I have been running the HKS 2530 turbos for around 6 months now with no complaints.
-
i just simply sprayed some oil into the calipers.

Differences between vq35DE & vq35HR (313bhp lump)
ZMANALEX replied to matth76's topic in 350Z Technical
What evidence would you like mate ? What I posted previously was my own personal experiences and not another opinion. I have pushed these engines beyond the limit in N/A, Supercharged and Twin Turbo format. What data would you like me to produce ? -
Differences between vq35DE & vq35HR (313bhp lump)
ZMANALEX replied to matth76's topic in 350Z Technical
Yes, some of the internals are different including pistons. Both are good up to maximun of 400 bhp providing you have complete control over ignition and fuel but longevity will be a big issue on both the DE and the HR on standard internals over 400 hp. -

Certainly the numbers are a bit rich but a sniffer is really not that accurate and as Dan says bore wash is a strong possibility at top end if you are actually running that rich. Most of the tuner guys that use a sniffer would probably use an Innovate LM1 AFR meter and for speeds sake would use the sniffer but it can also be hooked up to a Bosch Wideband Sensor which would give you an accurate reading. If you are concerned then I would recommend that you get that done.

Need stock Y pipe - urgent pls - my y pipe has blown!
ZMANALEX replied to N15MNO-Daron's topic in Wanted
Fitting back on an OEM Y section should be a last resort as they are soooooooooo restrictive. What do you mean by "keeps blowing" ? Does it crack and break or is it blowing at the flange gaskets ? A good quality Y section with the proper gaskets should not give you any issues if fitted properly. Do you still have the exhaust cross bar fitted at the front ? Cheers, Alex. -

ZMANALEX replied to N15MNO-Daron's topic in Wanted
I have one which I took off my car after 400 miles so it is like brand new. Why would you want the most restrictive part of the OEM zorst system. OH! and I am not local Cheers, Alex. -
Best to talk to your engine builder and mapper. All depends on how safe you want it to be. With full control over boost, ignition, fuel and cams you will have many options. I run a HKS tt Roadster with 525hp at the huds (around 600 at the fly) I am amazed that you did not figure/calculate all this out prior to starting on your project. I also would have thought that torque would also have been a major issue. Remember bhp sells cars, torque wins races. Do your searches on both U.K. forums and educate yourself After that, feel free to give me a shout anytime and I will answer all your questions with informed responces. As a matter of interest, who is your preferred engine builder and mapper? Cheers, Alex.

Yes mate, All sorted on Tuesday. Cheers, Alex.
