    PF01 or DS2500

PF01, no contest. If you can stretch to it, the PF stuff is absolutely top-notch are is seriously worth the extra cash.
  2. I still love them, and whilst I do agree that the boxy nature doesn't exactly flow like we're used to these days, I still think it looks very futuristic in an odd sort of way. It's one of the few Alfas I'd buy at any rate.
  3. I got 2nd place first go, but that was with a gold aura and a fully maxed Mach car. I think I need to make a new one under an aura and try again.
  4. Fixed, and I've edited the title too. Have just unlocked the Kairo race, so once I've finished the GP I'm currently in I'm going to give it a shot but it's supposed to be rock hard.
  5. I'd always send the car to somewhere I trust over generic place. Always.
  6. RE050A are by far the better tyre. Dunlops actually aren't that bad, but it depends on what you've got on the front of course.

    Insurance Rant

But surely if you hadn't claimed and moved to a different company at the end of that years insurance they wouldn't have known and you wouldn't have had to declare it? But you'd still have to declare it or risk having your insurance voided if they ever did find out.
  8. Warranty will be nearer £1000 from an OPC. Expensive, but ultimately worth it in case something goes ping. You will also need to make sure that the car will pass the 111pt check with no issues: Tyres are the biggy here, they must be N-rated and have more than 3mm on them. If they're not (and on an older car in the wider market I'd expect them not to be tbh) then there's another grand to spend there. Brakes must be 100% too or you'll be looking at discs and pads too, so there's another £2000... You can see where this leads. If you really don't want a Yank V8 truck and it really is between the X5 and the Cayenne, then I suspect the X5 is the better buy. The Cayenne is the better drive, but at that price point and for what the vehicle actually is I'd stick with the BMW every time.
  9. No-one purchased this today? No-one? Well, I finally completed the Asia championship and am now onto the full Formula 1 championship, and am getting thrashed every race: Now I know what HRT feel like...!
  10. Depends on whether it's from-new warranty or after that, be it extended manufacturer or third party. If it's from new, then you are allowed to go anywhere for parts and servicing as long as they are OEM quality, so a cheapo exhaust off eBay is no good but a real one from Milltek would be fine: Basically, look up European Block Exemption for more details. If the warranty is after this period then you have to use whatever is specified in the contract, so usually OEM only and using anything else for any other part of the car will invalidate your warranty, i.e. using Bosch windscreen wipers can mean they'll turn down a claim if your engine goes pop. HTH
  11. Under no circumstances should anyone who is a fan of motor racing go and buy this game from the App Store. If you do, I can guarantee that you'll end up having to charge your phone three times in one day because you can't put the bloody thing down! Honestly, this is utterly addictive stuff and for the meagre sum of £2 it can be yours as well. If you have an iDevice and like racing then this is a must buy, I've genuinely spent most of the day on mine. It's like a cutesy RPG but with pretty serious motor racing undertones with quality management designs. You need to balance spending money on cars, on upgrades, on staff, on upgrading your staff, on upgrading parts or cars etc as well as deciding which and how many races you want to enter but needing to keep your car repaired between races. Oh, and there's also the need to attract sponsors and sort out driver contracts too! That's makes it sound more difficult than it actually is, when what it really is is a whole lot of fun. Go buy.
  12. More likely they've got the money to pay for the manufacturer's warranty which covers them if things go wrong £2K up front to save a potential £20K bill? No contest. EDIT: Let me put it another way. Find out what the most expensive part of the car is (usually engine or gearbox). Now find out how much one of those costs second-hand and how much it would cost to get it replaced if things go wrong. If it's a cost you can bear then there is no monetary reason to stop you buying it. That's a calculation I've used for every car purchase I've ever made and it's not sold me wrong yet.
  13. If you can afford to run a £100K Merc, then do it as the engine note alone is worth it. If not then walk away.
  14. What's wrong with you lot??!! The man is asking for reasons to buy a stinking great V8 and you're telling him to buy a diesel?! Hand your Man Cards in on your way out, tut tut. Do it. X5s are comfy, full of toys and have a monster engine in the V8. If you like the look then there's no reason not to.
  15. Thanks for making the effort to read it (many don't!), but it applies to everyone who drives on the road too. 70mph is still 70mph either on track or on the road, its still chuffin' quick if the back end overtakes the front. Replacing all round with FK452 or buying a single RE050A (assuming the other one is fairly new, you don't mention how much tread it has) should be your only two options really. If you put Falkens only on the rear you'll have much less rear end grip, which isn't a good thing at all.
  16. Bit of a late one this, I know! Any one fancy joining a few Porkers, a GTO, an Impreza and a hot Clio for a dyno day this Saturday at Evolve Automotive in Luton? They've got a very good rep using Dyno Dynamics gear and it's always good to see exactly what your car is putting down, whether it's good or bad! Cost is only £40 for as many runs as it takes to get a stable reading, which is very fair. List is pinched from 911uk but feel free to add yourself if you're interested. I'm sure a few pax rides can be sorted out too if anyone wants one 1. gadgetJunky72 - 997 C2S 2. Gibbo - 997.1 C2S 3. Frosty993 - 993 C2S tip 4. Kevinuk - 993 c2 tip 5. Ekona - 997.2 C2S 6. 17. My best blag was a 987 Boxster S when they first came out back in 2005. I rocked up off the street, no appointment, in t-shirt and lairy shorts, in an horrendously loud MR2 and sporting a freshly-shaven head! How on earth they even gave me the time of day, let alone a really long test drive in the car I have no idea to this day. Worked out nicely for them though as I came back 5 years later and bought the 911 off them, so it always pays to be nice to potential customers even if you think they might be taking the p*ss
  18. If you can get cable, I'd go for Virgin. If you can't and are stuck with ADSL, then I'd go for BT Infinity. No other decent options that I can see right now. That said, I'm with Be and their customer service is simply without equal. Up to 24Mb speeds too if your line supports it.
  19. Personally I'd put a good suit on, get my Mum to ring up a Ferrari dealer as my secretary and book an appointment, then turn up and blag a car for a weekend as you want to know how it feels to use before you put down an order for a couple. And I'm only half-joking, too...
  20. That's the one, I knew it was something obvious. Never heard any complaints about them, that's where my money would go I think.
  21. V6 and supercharged V6 lumps aren't they? Beautiful but oh so pricey for what they are, I'd have one in a heartbeat though
  22. Overtightened or not tight enough, could be a dodgy seal and under heavy acceleration you end up with an air leak. If the specs were 20ft lbs and you used a torque wrench then you should be fine, probably just a bit of errant coolant like you say
