    Falken 912?

They're the kind of tyres you'd put on your Mum's Golf for her to do the shopping in. I'd even take the 452s over the 912s, and that's saying something for me! Set of four Ultrac Sessanta is only £571 at Camskill, do yourself and your car a favour and stretch the budget. It's only the cost of a tank of fuel.
  4. Sod you all then I ran it on a PC forum a few years back and it went Stateside, and there's a cracking one on PCGB with 997 owners taking him all over the world too. Just thought it might be a good laugh, that was all. Not to worry, we can all go back to calling each other names over the internet now if you like.
  5. Not sure if anything like this has been done here before, if has there's no mention of it, but I've run this before on various forums and it worked really well so I thought we could do with a bit of a community bringing-together on here so let's see how this goes. The idea is simple: I buy a small teddy bear and keep him with me for a week, taking photos of him in interesting places either related to me or to cars. For example, I may take a photo of him working on a toilet, or in the engine bay of my car, and then throw some words together that will clearly have come from Zed Ted's mouth directly. After that week I send him onto the next person in the list, and they do the same. So on and so forth, I'm sure you can see where this goes from there. I'll do a proper post with a bit more detail on it (dos and don'ts) if there's enough interest, but if we could get a show of people who would be interested in something like this then that would be great. It's nothing more than a bit of fun that gives you an idea into the lives of your fellow Zed owners/enthusiasts, without having to move too far from your usual routine. The quicker you shout up, the higher up the list your name will be so the quicker you'll get hold of Zed Ted ************************************************************************* List of names of people who want him for a week: Elfman Squee Ioneabee Glrnet Tarmac Stew Chris 'I Vik54 Brillomaster Maccaman Jumping350 Rtbiscuit Neilp AsianUK Sasha Bronzee Martinmac MacW Taffyjason 313gt Twobears Nzr350z Builder49 Small Print: The teddy bear remains at all times my property, and at any time I can ask for him to be returned to me via registered delivery within 7 days. Should this happen then you will be reimbursed after I have received him via a payment method of your choosing. All other postage costs to other people on the list shall be your responsibility. By taking part in this fun little thing you accept these terms.
  6. Meh, at least they get good weather. So if this were to happen in this country, say if Bolton beat Man Utd and the crowd went berserk and killed each other, what do you think FIFA would say about that? I'm guessing more than they've said about this.
  7. So is the general consensus that these are wheel-friendly? I saw one a week or so back and thought it would be a good idea, but I don't want to risk smashing the finish of the wheels to bits. Is it a case of if you're sensible then they're fine, but if you're a bit gung-ho then you can expect and deserve to damage your wheels?
  8. Type the code you lazy git! But I do actually agree with you, would be far more helpful than the or the or the or the or the ... You can see where I'm going with this.
  9. Are you volunteering to go through all 56487 threads then to decide which ones are social and which ones are factual? Tbh there's no need for any changes that I can see, the search does have all the answers if you've got a bit about you to use it properly.
  10. Would buying a TomTom et al not be a better/cheaper solution if you only want it for the sat-nav?
  11. I don't necessarily want McLaren to stuff RB (although my preference is for the team in Woking), however I would like to see a much closer gap between the two this year. Mercedes and *spit* Lotus really need to up their game this year, as do the folks at Caterham but I like them so would forgive another season of averageness. I suspect McLaren don't expect too much from the car this year hence the tidying up rather than a re-design, and I'm guessing most of their knowledge will be looking into building the car for next year where the rules really change. I want Ferrari to crash and burn at every opportunity, Massa is still a whinging little tosspot and I need say nothing further about Alcocko.
  12. If you are driving to a pre-booked (key word there) MOT test you don't need tax, just insurance.
  13. Really? I'd still drive and I would definitely have the insurance if it was optional, much like they do in the US. I do have mobile phone insurance but only because it makes life a bit easier if the worst was to happen, and my job also means that I lose/break a phone at least a couple of times a year on average so it saves me money overall. I don't think I've got any other optional insurances (other than the tyre/wheel one already mentioned), although I'm looking at getting some extra life cover soon just in case anything should happen to me. Oh, I've got GAP insurance on the car too if that counts.
  14. So by the same school of thought, if car insurance was optional would you not have that either? Genuine question, not trying to be picky or owt
  15. But you get free refills, so buy it early in life and you could be quids in by the time you die
  16. Exactly, well said. £2k on car wax is no more stupid than buying a brand new BMW that loses £5k as you drive off the forecourt I'm only teasing, absolutely no harm or offence intended
  17. Please, please can someone runs this bloke's posts via a spell checker or a translation matrix or something, it's now starting to physically hurt trying to work out what the hell he's saying Ian, those pics are bang on mate
  18. Parts are all two years now IIRC, same as with all used cars from an OPC.
  19. I don't think we've seen anything of the flaming that isn't justified, and certainly nowhere near the vitriol that can be directed at folks on some US-based sites (and certain parts of PH, come to that). I can only speak for myself here, but personally I wouldn't want to be part of a forum that actively encourages lazy idiots to be a part of it. That's essentially what you're talking about, people who are too lazy or too stupid to ingratiate themselves correctly into a well-established community. It's the equivalent of a complete stranger walking into your favourite pub and yelling as loudly as possible "CAN SOMEONE TELL ME WHERE THE TOILETS ARE AND ALSO WHAT DRINK GOES BEST WITH THE CURRY AND CAN SOMEONE BRING IT TO MY TABLE NOW!". You wouldn't call that acceptable there, so why should it be different here? All any newcomer has to do is look around the screen , at least try the search and have a read of a few threads to get the idea of how the place works: It's not rocket science. We get a good 20-ish people signing up every week at least, and 99% of them are capable of doing a Welcome post and being polite, so why should we make special allowances for those who just can't be bothered? There's flaming, and then there's gentle ribbing trying to get people to understand how this place works. We get very, very little of the former, and the latter is only allowed where it's deserved.
  20. Still wouldn't do it, and it's still not recommend. How effective is that padding going to be if you smash your head against in a barrel roll at 70mph? Not very. Each to their own, there's absolutely no law against doing it, but it's really not a good idea. The caveat being unless you're in a car that has/had a manufacturer built and fully approved cage fitted.
  21. If you are thinking of installing a cage, then you must not drive on the road without some sort of head protection on. They're designed exclusively for this, and a flailing head floating around a car with a cage is likely to take a hell of a pounding. Of course, if it's a track-only car then this irrelevant. As above though, unless needed for a race series I'm not sure I'd bother installing any way.
  22. Blimey, if the team did that they'd never get anything done! Seriously though, it should be down to the individual to realise they're being a bit of a tosspot, not for everyone else to tell them.
  23. Early Caymans with the M96/97 engine are as prone to IMS/RMS issues as the 996 and 997.1 911s, so maybe a failure rate of between 5-10% depending on which interweb forum you go on, but the gen2 cars from 2009 on all have the redesigned lump that does away with the intermediate shaft altogether. There have been no known cases of this engine failing anywhere across the world from a design fault since they were introduced in the gen2 997 in 2008. It was a very big point in swaying me towards the later car, put it that way. The cars themselves are as reliable as any Zed, if not more so.
  24. This. Absolutely this. Although I'd have dropped the C-bomb in there somewhere, so you've far more restraint than I do.
