    Neuton tyres

Vredestein got trashed too when they first came out, until people tried them and realised that the VUS were actually great in terms of feel, but still only average in terms of grip. Most budget tyres fall down on both of those, so to find one that didn't is the exception rather than the rule.
  2. Haven't listened to R1 since the start of the year, and I'm not missing it at all. Then again, since I'm now out of their target audience group, I guess that means they're doing something right.
  3. No issues at all, on any vehicle at the appropriate times.
  4. Turn your telly up louder? Have you already spoke to them about the noise?

Do they do them in the right sizes for the Beetle? Sadly not. I died a little inside when I found that out. Each to their own. If the OP is happy, I'm happy. There's enough posts on here where I give my opinion, no need to add to them if the OP has already read them and decided that Neuton tyres are for him.

Tyres that grip the road? Hug the curves? Rip the miles? HOT DAMN SIGN ME UP BOYS Ahem.

Every 3k is overkill unless the car literally lives on track. Every 5k is plenty for a hard-driven car with the occasional trackday, otherwise 10k/annually will be fine.
  8. I've done it too. You need to work out first off who pays if the thing is damaged (driver or 50/50, and then what happens if one hasn't got the cash to do it?), and what happens in case one of you wants out. Bearing in mind the cost of clams on the Elise, even a slight brush with the scenery is going to cost a bit. Just make sure you get everything in writing and signed by both parties. Wear and tear on tyres, brakes, suspension etc, all stuff to consider. Has he ever driven an Elise before? They can be a bit twitchy if you're not used to them, and that makes those car to scenery incidents a bit more likely to happen.
  9. What did they say when you rang them and asked them what the code was? Again though, how did you get your V5 and tax disc reminders through?
  10. I would want the Mini for the drive, but I'd want the VXR for the looks. Vauxhall got the styling bang-on with that car, they really did.
  11. I was swapping some exhausts over on a mate's car on Saturday, and had to Dremel off a particularly stuck bolt. It was all going fine until the entire head of the Dremel, complete with cutting disc still rotating at 10,000RPM, flung itself off the main unit and caught me across my knuckles. It wasn't until I looked at the tiny nick on one knuckle (literally only just broke the skin) that I kinda stopped and realised just how incredibly fortunate I'd been to not lose a finger completely. That would've put a downer on the day somewhat I suspect.
  12. I agree with you, there was no need to speak to Rebecca in that way and a more gentle approach would've sufficed I suspect. Trouble is that we all expect the BiB to be completely perfect 100% of the time, despite the fact that they're only human like the rest of us at the end of the day. I don't want that to sound like an excuse for some of them being arrogant beyond belief, and indeed my last encounter with an officer of the law left a very bad impression, but I do try and remember that all the others I've met both socially and in an official capacity have treated me with courtesy.
  13. Just for a bit of Devil's Advocate... What if that police officer that stopped Rebecca had the day previous been called to attend an RTC where there was a fatality, and the incident had been caused by someone texting on their mobile phone at the time? That would clearly effect the person in a way that may mean they give out severe b*llockings for that crime and just accept that they'd rather been seen to be on a power trip but make a difference and save a life. Or perhaps the last time they spoke to someone about using a mobile phone in a jam that person turned very nasty and tried to assault the BiB? Again, you wouldn't want to make that mistake twice.
  14. No, it should've been registered to your address. How did you get the V5 anyway, given it doesn't have your address on? Did you not realise then that it needed changing?
  15. Wouldn't want to be bitten by one of those, they'll take your hand off!
  16. I'm not sure what you're asking, really. If you can't afford or don't like the deal then don't go through with it, although if it were me and someone would actually take a cat c Hyundai coupe auto off my hands at all I'd be grateful, even better if it's the guy I want to buy a car off.
  17. So how do you get your tax reminder? Or any NIPs? Does it need to be your home address? No, I guess not as if you were a student then it would be perfectly acceptable to have any relevant mail delivered to your parent's house still, but clearly having it in the name of some random business you just happened to buy a car off isn't an acceptable situation. Tbh I';d be glad that they caught the mistake before something happened that means I missed an important piece of mail: See my first line for details. Let me re-phrase the question for you: Why do you think it's perfectly okay to have the registered keeper's address nowhere near where the registered keeper lives, or has regular contact with?

    18's or 19's

Best setup for what? Go or show? Budget? Style? With or without tyres?

    18's or 19's

Always 18's IMHO, but Lexx is spot-on for the reasons why.
  20. Read the blurb that goes with it on PH, it gives a good indication as to the mental nature of different types of bikers. He's definitely in the third category!
