  1. Not quite: My new tax disc is valid from the 1st of April, but I paid the lower price
  2. If being used for work purposes, then yes.
  3. If you renew NOW then the cost is the same as last year. If you wait until the rates go up (whether that's 6pm, tomorrow or April 1st) then you pay the higher premium.
  4. I always use brushes on mine. They're the Swissvax-style ones I got from Envy a year or so ago, they do a much better job than a wash mitt does.
  5. Great idea, just duct tape the hose to the watering can
  6. See, I told you all to go and buy your tax last week Surely it's ouch for everyone though? Inflation is only 3.4% anyway, which is peanuts in terms of running a Zed. Hell, the difference between the lower rate Zeds and the higher rate Zeds is peanuts in the grand scheme of things.
  7. Glynn Hopkin in Bishops Stortford are utterly brilliant. Always fought my corner when I had a warranty claim, and went above and beyond the call of duty when changing bits and pieces. Spending 30 mins on the phone at their cost when I was in Le Mans trying to diagnose an issue I had was fantastic service.
  8. If he was that level with you, then he wasn't trying. The TTRS is fast as fook, and I'd do well to keep one honest in the 911.
  9. But you need to rinse with an open hose to get the water off really. Go and find a company car and wash that instead, as that's perfectly acceptable. Just make sure you've got your Zed parked next to it that accidentally keeps getting splashed.
  10. It's not normal. What's your oil level like?
  11. It's a nice holder, it's just in a different postcode from where it should be
  12. I had to go back and look for that! Very shiny, what did you use?

    Tyres?

Don't buy budget tyres, the Zed deserves better. Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas are the cheapest tyres I would consider putting on a Zed, other than that I'd look at the Bridgestone RE050A or the ultimate Michelin Pilot Super Sport. Have a read of the Sticky threads in the Tyre section and make your own mind up.
  14. Is that not the whole idea, and not a bad one at that? The country is skint, this makes money for the coffers instead of cuts or taxes, and will also provide work for a good few people. The more I think about it, the more convinced I am it's a good idea. The only downside is that the country is already too small and full of roads, and that they'll only leave the speed limit at 70mph on these lovely clear roads anyway.
  15. Naff all. Don't see 97 compared to 99, see low octane (95) to high octane (97-100).
  16. if not you'll just be guessing and second guessing what you should do to increase performance and put money and time in the wrong area... I'd like to know if I cut holes in my lining if it actually made any difference, if I install titanium shims does it hinder heat travelling to my calipers, if I get a different type pad does it help heat buildup, if I install brake ducts does it do any difference... otherwise you just work on the 'feel' and think that something made a difference when it really didn't. I see your point, but can you tell the difference between discs at 600c and discs at 700c? I can't, but I can tell the difference between fluid that's boiling and fluid that is fine, which is why feel is more important on brakes than raw data. Like at said, when you're racing then there is a good reason to use temps to gauge how the brakes are reacting over long and short distances, but for the average road or track day driver it's irrelevant data. When I buy brakes I look at the numbers but also ask for experience in terms of feel, and if the setup turns out to be fine then it doesn't matter what temps they get to.
  17. Ford or Vauxhall really. A mk1 Mondeo will last forever, same as an old Astra.
  18. And you're considering an Alfa and a Pug??!! Only kidding, I know what you mean. Thing is, even an older car is going to cost you much less to run than one of the two you mentioned, and what you save you keep as a slush fund in case something does go wrong. Worst comes to the worst you bin it and get a new one.
  19. IMHO, the only time you need to worry about specific brake temps is if you're constantly getting a soft brake pedal, or if you're racing. If what you are using is fine and you're happy with it, then knowing whether you're hitting 600c or 700c is irrelevant, albeit interesting to know. It's the kind of geeky thing I'd do at a trackday with some mates as a p*ssing contest for a laugh, but in real terms it's not something most people would ever need to think about.
  20. Buy a £500 shed and run that instead. Far cheaper than buying a new car, even over lease.
  21. I'm using the Sky Sports app. Full live timings, in-car cameras, and free! Assuming you have Sky already, of course.
  22. Assuming they were kept in a decent state, and had ANPR on them so you didn't have to stop and fish around for change or a card, then I'm all for them. I always use the M6 Toll when heading out that way, and you only need look at France or the US to see how toll roads can be done properly. Since they'll be something that you don't have to use if you don't want to, I can't see any issues with this plan at all. Yes, it will need careful overseeing to ensure it doesn't end up like Bronzee's examples, but it doesn't automatically have to end in disaster.
