  1. You have got to be kidding me. 1. iCloud went down for a poxy 10 hours and Apple have apologised and said that the outage was unnaceptable, NOT the service. 2. So a manufacturer deliberately withholds stock to make it seem more desirable. Companies have been doing that for years: Ferrari are the best at it, but electronics companies aren't shy of using the same trick. 3. Something that isn't released may or may not work 100% correctly when it's released. Or it might, no-one knows yet. Christ, I could give you a list of 10 things to knock Apple for if you want very easily, so why pick on complete non-stories like those? This is exactly why no-one takes fanboys seriously, of either the Apple OR Android variety.
  2. A phone could have a 5" screen, built in 128GB of space & expansion, 24MP camera, battery that lasts for 4 weeks and a processor that can calculate Pi to 1M places in 0.4 secs, and yet none of that would remotely factor into my purchasing decision.
  3. Completely agree. Sh*t can happen in any car, so you'll never be able to eradicate the oil/diesel/ice mishaps that can effect all of us. Your best tool is your right foot and a dose of common sense.
  4. Ah, anti-Apple fanboy ads. The cutting edge of humour.
  5. Depends what else you're avers(e) to, I guess. But yeah, even a quick check of the PH classifieds can prove that nugget wrong.
  6. No they don't you numpty, they're miles off!
  7. I think he means a normal bank loan, which should show on the credit file. But even so, who cares if it does? At worst it'll show that you paid it off on time, which is hardly bad news is it? As I said the other day, just chuck the lot on a credit card (even a normal 12% one) and pay it off over a couple of months. You'd still be miles better off.
  8. Buy it. If it's a dream car, then just do it.
  9. It's not as much bigger as you think. I put a tape measure next to my 4S last night and it was only fractionally bigger, certainly nothing the over-compensating S3 brigade have anything to worry about.
  10. I hate to say it, but the problem isn't the TC in the car, it's the TC at the end of your right leg.

    Going backwards

I've got 10 fingers and 10 toes and none of them are webbed, I don't qualify for Suffolk Probably stay pretty local to where we are now, easy for both myself and Jo for commuting. Tbh the only other thing I'm seriously considering is a TVR of some kind, probably a Chim. I've ruled most other stuff out because of either potential big bills or just not interesting enough, which leaves an earlier Porker or E46 M3 on the cutting room floor. It's not a definite I'll replace the car with anything yet, but it's always nice to plan ahead. The Zed just ticks so many boxes and it's a car I know so very well, but whether I'd want to do it again or not is a different story.
  12. I wouldn't worry too much about it giving you the best price for anything, more whether it gives representative quotes compared to Gocomparethemoneysupermeerkat. If it does, then they're onto a winner. If not, then it's useless.

    Going backwards

Potentially. I'm looking at moving the 911 on so I can accelerate my house move, but I'm unsure as to whether I'd want to replace the 911 with something cheaper (bearing in mind I still have the MX5 to play with and use of the STi) or just not bother. See, I sold the Zed because I fancied a change and could get into my dream car, not because I was bored of it. There's no downside to the car that puts me off, unlike something like the VXR which I'm glad I did but wouldn't go back to. There's a few cars on the list at around £10k-£15K that tick the boxes, and the Zed is firmly there. Coupe over ragtop this time though. The black HR that was on sale here the other day would be perfect for me.
  14. Anyone here ever owned a car, sold it, then a few years later bought the same model again? Any regrets in doing so, or downsides to it, or anything negative at all? Are you glad you went back because you regretted the initial sale, or did you just find comfort in what was familiar? Any regrets about not trying something different instead? Any thoughts on the matter appreciated.
  15. Why should he? He's not Apple, it's down to the individual to work out any pros or cons for themselves.
  16. ESR or Japspeed? Bungs included?
  17. Just run mine through, about what I expected from the usual suspects. £650, but £1000 if you pay by instalments. Utterly insane, who on earth would pay by that??!! You'd chuck it on a credit card and pay it off over a couple of months if you couldn't do it in one go, it would still work out much cheaper.
  18. I'd rather pay more for my fuel if it meant less people on the roads. Doesn't work like that over here, sadly.
  19. The OS. That's Apple's strength. Android is flaky at best, and you never know if anything is actually going to run on it as there's so many damn versions out there now (admittedly iOS is headed in the same direction, but nowhere near as fragmented). All Android screens that I've ever tried, S3 included, have the most irritating lag on the touchscreen that the Apple devices simply don't have. The phone is massive and the screen simply too big for most people, and I find it a shame that Apple have felt the need to pander to the many by increasing the size of the iPhone screen: It's unnecessary. The 4S camera is miles better than the 4 and more than a match for anything out there maybe 920 excluded, and if you can find somewhere in the world that doesn't have an Apple 30-pin plug nearby then I'd suggest you've got bigger issues. I've not needed a replacement battery for any phone ever, so why would I want to carry around a spare one? I don't need a billion songs on my phone so 32GB is enough for me, but if it wasn't I'd buy the 64GB version. You're making it sound like the choice isn't there, when it is. It's just designed as a one item device, rather than something you carry around a load of different bits for. I haven't been sucked in by anything, I know the weakness of the iPhone for some people. I also understand the goal behind it, that doesn't mean I can't appreciate or disparage other devices as I see fit. If an Android phone had the screen of the iPhone, I'd seriously consider one. Until such a day comes, I can't see why I'd want to swap the most important feature of a smartphone, the actual interface, for being able to say I can put an SD card in or swap a battery over. Each to their own.
  20. Comparing hardware is irrelevant. It always has been between Apple & anything else, because Apple stuff relies on the OS instead. They do have much more reactive screens, but for everything else they do seem be not be quite as good. None of which matters, because if you buy an iPhone you don't really care if it has NFC or the greatest lens in the world, you buy it because of the complete package. It's not a tool to use as a p*ssing contest with your mates as to who has more RAM. Look at Infinity Blade 2 on the 4S and then tell me the iPhone needs more oomph. It doesn't.
  21. Bingo. Waste of time while the economy is down the pan. The UK coffers need funds, and this is a guaranteed pot-filler. The time to complain is when we're not in a global recession and the tax stays high.
  22. Pretty much the same now applies for Android fans though. They'll slaughter anything that has an OS that's user friendly and hardware that's machined perfectly to the nth degree. Truth is both (well, all three is you count Win8) platforms have their pros and cons. Apple is easier to use, more stable and lag-free, but Android offers far more in terms of options and updates, and has more freedom. Horses for courses.
  23. Missed that, ta. He did say that it was like that straight after fitting though and it hasn't changed since, so not impossible that they might've been dosed with a lot, albeit unlikely granted.
