  1. You have to tell them you have a wrap on it though, and you'd be best off telling them the colour whilst you're there.
  2. Indeed, where is the little guy?
  3. Go and have a look, it's the only way to be sure. Apart from nuking the entire site from orbit, of course.
  4. But a click when reversing, yes? That's the clicky axle issue.
  5. Clicky axles is a common issue.

If I were to do anything like that (and the thought has crossed my mind), it would be an LS conversion. Always fancied doing that the first time round, so would love to actually do it this time. That's a good few years down the road though.
  7. Coming from the tyre master thats silly and dangerous advice. Please explain to me how it's dangerous. Seriously, how is buying a car that is better in the snow due to the laws of physics dangerous? Not convinced it's silly either, but I'd much rather hear your argument as to how it could possibly be dangerous.
  8. If it's that bad, you shouldn't be out driving. If your journey is that vital (i.e. you work for the ambulance service or similar), then consider buying a cheap FWD or 4WD vehicle to use in the winter.
  9. Chuck a pair in the car for an emergency if you must, but you'd be better off looking at weather forecasts and deciding if you should be driving anyway instead. Never used them, never needed them.

One of the reasons I bought one originally. Worst that can happen with a Zed is the engine goes pop, £1500 later and it's sorted. Not quite the case with the 911... Having run the MX-5 alongside the Porker for a while, it's reassuring to know I can still really enjoy driving something that would struggle to de-skin a rice pudding, as well as something ballistic.

Small bills is all relative I guess, I was looking at replacing the outriggers if they go and even then it's only £3K or so to get it all done properly. But yeah, the Zed will be remarkably less than that if anything does go pop. Hopefully! I suspect an £800 Alfa will indeed change my life, but I've already got one shed and don't think I need another
  12. Where the hell did you find that picture from??!!

Scary, isn't it? Looking at it from that angle, which I forced myself to do and started looking at bang for buck, there really wasn't much competition if I'm honest.

Now there's a question! I don't think I want a ragtop again, as although I really enjoyed my time with mine I'd constantly be comparing it, and it would never be as good regardless of what I did to it. I did find the coupe a tad dull though, not in terms of the drive which was superior to the roadster, but the amount of noise and feel transferred from the drivetrain to the interior. Also, the roadster is butt-ugly with the roof up. I think a decent HR in black or orange would be good, leave it on the Rays and do the intake, exhaust and XYZ pipe, along with some serious brakes and the ARBs. May even do the dampers and springs this time round too. The big task I really want to do is the interior, and specifically the centre console finish and the seat covering. Starting to look through the for sale section on parts now, see if there's any bargains I can grab while the going is good.

Decision made. Once the 911 sells, I'm getting a Zed. The more I think about it, the more I want one again.
  16. There are nice parts of Essex y'know

    Exhaust Temperature

EGT on an NA car is usually around the 600-800c mark, turbocharge that and you can add a good 200c to those temps. Backbox won't get that hot, but exactly what temp it will reach I couldn't tell you. Buy a cheap infra-red temp gauge off eBay and measure it
  18. A healthy dose of Megs Ultimate Compound followed by Menzerna FF3000 should get most things out using a DA, and anything over that is probably going to need repainting. Whilst I firmly respect the action that Dave took, it's not something I would ever consider doing myself nor would I recommend others do it. Kids these days don't respect the fact that once both sides have had their pop, then it's over. Now it's all reprisals over and over and over, and escalating all the time. Back in my day (and I'm only 32!) you could end up with a huge punch up on a Friday night, then once it was over you'd more than likely end up drinking with the bloke until the small hours. Maybe that's just because I'm from a relatively small town and city life is different, but that's how it was.
  19. Lands End to John O'Groats in one day, then tour the Highlands. Isle of Man, just all of it. Best driving roads anywhere IMHO, those two.
  20. All pomp and bluster, it'll never happen. Which is a massive shame, as it's a terrific idea. Well, apart from the not being able to drive at night unless you're going to work or college (because obviously you'll never drive like a knob if you were doing that...), but the rest of it works. Make it 16 not 16.5, and make the power output below a certain level not engine size. Bring in 10 year re-tests for all drivers too, might actually improve driving standards in this country.
  21. What have you tried to remove the scratches with so far? Pics would be good too.
