  1. It's all rubbish, no-one has any idea exactly what's going on and by the time it'll make any difference to me I'll be dead. Mankind will either invent something fabulous to sort everything out (very likely, we normally do) or we'll be made extinct. Either way, there'll be a solution.
  2. Why would they not? You have a cert of the works tested from the gas installer, it's on his head if anything goes wrong as he was the last one to test the appliance and pipework. Once he signs that bit of paper, everything is on him, no? No different from him getting an apprentice to do it and then he checks and signs off. That's how I see it anyway. Tbh it's been years since I touched any gas, but that used to be the principle then anyhoo.
  3. Pfft, as long as the GS man gives you the cert I'd still do it all myself. 'Tis only a bit of soldering after all, and if it's not right you don't get your cert.
  4. About time too. Pointless if the big guys weren't going to play by the rules.
  5. A quick google says yes, from April 2009. Oh well, bang goes that idea then! You could still fit it all yourself (including the gas work) but just don't turn it back on until you've had a gas engineer out to certify it for you.
  6. Have they changed that recently then? Used to be that you can't touch the meter itself, but anything else was fair game as long as it was on your own property.
  7. Assuming straight like for like combi for combi, you can get one for between £500 - £1000 (depending on size) and just fit it yourself, you don't need gas certs to work on your own property. It's a piece of cake to do if you're remotely handy with anything mechanical. To get one fitted is a one-day job, about £1200 all in including a £600 boiler is pretty much bang on the money.
  8. MX-5s FTW I broke the rear screen on mine today, whoops!
  9. Don't bother dealing with him, waste of time and effort. Spend your money with people that want your custom, IMHO.
  10. Dodgy MAF, give it a clean with some carb cleaner and see if that helps. Could just be moisture getting in somewhere too, as it has been rather wet recently. Flashing CEL is VERY bad misfire, if it's doing that don't drive it!
  11. Always used carb cleaner here.
  12. I'd hit that until it fell off, or until the neighbours complained about the smell. Whichever came first.
  13. We use Zurich for ours, although that's including a fair amount of airside and terrorism cover too which I'm guessing you don't need.
  14. What you need is a specific lifting kit, rather than full air suspension. That is, unless you really just drive to and from shows and don't care for fast country drives.
  15. And....... It was okay. Despite following the rule of between a beermat and a playing card, the sheets cooked up a little too thick so will need to adjust for next time. Otherwise the rest of it was pretty good, quite pleased overall really.
  16. Made fresh lasagne sheets for the first time ever. Lasagne is now in the oven, fingers crossed for awesome win food.
  17. Bagsy I'm not on the bottom then!
  18. Absolutely, couldn't agree more Colin. I just like being that annoying kid at the back of the class that keeps piping up with the same question every now and then, wearing the teacher down with irritation to get his own way
  19. I reckon the three of us should hit the nearest bar and get wasted.
  20. I've never been that cool enough to be in that situation
  21. No you tit, I meant the home made sneaky film!
