Aero and a stonking lap in the right conditions with a driver that knows the car exceptionally well. It's less than 4 secs under 7mins, so not exactly well under but I see your point.

That'll be a dry weight, you can easy add in another 150kg for a wet weight. Also, I got the cost of a current R35 wrong apparently, so we can all stop arguing over that now I genuinely thought it was around that, with the Nismo being £150K.
  3. Might be me with two accounts But dude, awesome name!
  4. Nothing wrong with being correct.
  5. Exactly my point, it’s not a 370Z Nice pic though, regardless. Just needs to be in the Other Cars section really
  6. Either I’m being thick, or that’s not remotely a 370Z in that pic.
  7. You know you can do it instantly online now? Putting your private reg on, that is. Or taking it off one car if it’s still on there.

That's the thing: Does the GTR need to be so big? The 911 has more space in the back for passengers, okay it loses out on the boot space, but it's not like it's not tourable. Even things like the 488 have more than enough luggage space, so really could it not be shrunk to lose the weight a bit without going gung-ho on carbon and watching the price skyrocket? Even a boggo C4S weighs 1545kg, and that's got the 4WD/4WS/2+2/6cylTT engine etc. I'm not saying it's remotely comparable to the GTR in anyway (indeed, no-one looking at either car would be considering the opposite most likely!), but it does show that you can do all that without going mental on weight. If they could do the R36 with the hybrid stuff and keep to 1700kg then that would be a success, but then how much more power does it need? Would it really be that much quicker, and would it not then be priced well and truly out of the hands of the ordinary person?

    370Z is silly heavy too

Just imagine how much better a GTR could be if it weighed 1550kg, not 1750kg...

Then why have they made the Nismo versions lighter? We all know that weight is the enemy to dynamics, what the engineer guy said at the start was nonsense to cover up the fact they couldn’t make it any lighter and keep the price down. Now it’s a six-figure car, they can and should try and use more advanced materials to reduce the weight penalty.

Prob end up around 2 ton at this rate!
  13. Hang on a minute chaps, I've just realised that we're in the first week of school holidays... Come back in a year and we'll try again then, if using a generic insurance comparison site is too taxing right now.
  14. Dude, it’s not rocket science. It tells you what you need to do!
  15. As Killick says, just use the GoCompareTheMoneySupermarket sites, put your details in and have a play. It’s as easy as that.
  16. Does it feel quicker? If the answer is yes then job done. Nothing else matters. Dyno numbers are for pub bores with tiny winkys.
  17. If only there were some kind of insurance comparison website you could put your details into, that would give you an idea of what it would cost to insure a Zed if you were 18 now...
  18. Fair enough. Two things strike me though, one being that I can’t see why people would prefer an older M car with a non-M engine with less power etc (although I do agree the S55 sounds dreadful!), and the other is that dealers may well have other motives for telling you that the model you’re after is now more sought after and thus no deals to be had... I don’t doubt that some have changed their minds, but I think the new car is significantly more attractive in terms of what it offers than the old one for most, even if I’d be tempted to go with the older car too.
  19. Wait until the new M2 comes out, the price of the older ones should reduce a fair bit

    MPS Question

That's my point: If you cannot feel just how much better MPSS are than FL453 (is this correct? Saying Falkens is like saying your Nissan is amazing, when it could be a Micra or a GTR!) then you're not massively in a position to offer a reasoned viewpoint. What Bridgestones? The RE050A are much better than the 453s, but the 453s are better than the 040s so you need to be precise with what your comparing. Again, it's the whole Micra/GTR thing. Maybe you're right, maybe the average person wouldn't notice, but we're supposed to be enthusiasts on here and should be offering accurate and detailed advice, not generic opinions that would apply equally to Granny Dora with her 1.1L Corsa. I don't just recommend MPSS/PS4/PS4S for their performance benefits either: I do it because they also offer ridiculously decent wear rates, so even if you only ever pootle around you'd notice the benefit of increased times between changing tyres, which more than offsets the higher purchase price. See, I can do practical as well as performance Runflats are shocking things. By their very nature they add harshness to the ride of any vehicle, and they're the first thing I ditched on my old 6er. I'm really not trying to start an argument, even though it sounds like I'm doing my best tbh it's not aimed at you personally, this is something that happens a lot on here and I don't feel that it's something we should always be encouraging. Yes, I'm all for people saying that 453s are better than 040s as that's night and day, but then so is the difference between 453 and MPSS and if you can tell the difference between the first, you should be able to tell the difference between the latter.

    MPS Question

With all due respect, if you can’t feel the obvious difference between MPSS and (I’m assuming) FK453, then you’re really not helping anyone by commenting here. Add in the fact you find runflats great... Sorry, I know that sounds harsh and for once I genuinely don’t mean it to be, I just can’t think of a better way to phrase it this early on a Sunday. Obviously all contributions are always welcome on a forum, I just get a little concerned when people offer up specific advice when it’s clear their knowledge on the subject matter is limited.

    MPS Question

^^^ That. Don't mix MPS4S and MPS4, they're radically different tyres. Some people love the Eagle F1s, personally I've found them excellent in the dry but shocking in the wet with poor feel, however I do concede I'm in the minority there. MPS4 better than Eagle F1 by far all round, so go to the MPS4S and you're laughing.

Which is odd, considering they said that the reason the original R35 was so competent is because of the extra weight...
