  1. More than I’d want to think about: if you can see enough rust to be worried about, then they’re MUCH more you can’t see. I’d walk at that point, there lots of cars out there.
  2. Same for any 350 now, rust will be the killer but also checking for general health (smoking on start up, good gearbox, working electrical etc). We’re now at the stage where you buy on condition, not mileage.
  3. If it’s just for the MOT, pop some OEM ones on then put your test pipes back afterwards?
  4. Not any more, think the old days of expensive insurance or not being able to read OBD (although it is still trickier) are behind us. Parts are interchangeable so no worries there, but I would make sure you’re paying less for an import than a UK car like for like
  5. If there’s ever a way, Veilside will find it. They’re the JDM Mansory.
  6. Wouldn’t even bother looking at it with no MOT. Decent spec though.
  7. Crash on track, it won’t be covered. Crash on the road, you will be. It’s protecting them from people binning it on track, then dragging the car to the local roads and claiming an accident.

    R8 would you?

Developing world won’t be able to afford synthetic fuel either. EVs will only be enforced on the developed world by big companies, there will always be another company to sort out demand for the ROW.
  9. Is that Wine Red or BBQ/Smokehouse Burst? I’m an LP man through and through now, I really want a goldtop but with a 60s neck which is proving very tricky to find.
  10. I remember doing a day at Castle Combe in similar conditions in an R300, -6c air temp and go knows what wind chill. Could only stand 10mins on track before rushing back to the truck to sit with the heater on 🤣

    £6.50/l for PSF 🤣
  12. Take it back, what’s the issue? You want new cats?
  13. That’s what I’d do personally, a good Italian tune up works wonders. Plus, y’know, it’s fun!
  14. Five years! Blimey, the one in my mx5 is 15 years and still going strong! 😂 Test it, if it’s fine then leave it alone. Halfords will do it for free, if you’re really stuck for a place to go.
  15. That’s the beauty of a custom job, if you don’t like it then you tell them to change it

Mate, I’m as diehard a petrol head as you’ll find but even I can see that electric cars are the future now. Whilst I have no desire to own one as a fun car, like it or not they’ll be your only choice before you know it.

Well, we’ve had the brunt of that already and the cost of ICE performance stuff is still going up, so you make your own call Honestly, I don’t believe there’s a cat in hell’s chance of fun stuff dropping below what it is now. Much more likely to go the other way, and if costs keep increasing then it just puts them even more out of reach.

Put it another way, if you don’t do it now then when? Give it three years and these cars will be totally unavailable.
  19. Now if only they’d make another M5 Touring, I’d be a very happy man
  20. Tbh you would be better served finding a local exhaust specialist and having something custom made. That’s what I did with my old BMW: I told them how I wanted it to sound, what volume level I was comfortable with, and what tips I wanted. They did the rest and I was more than happy with the result. Did the same at another company for my Dad’s Hummer, including a removable silencer so it was essentially straight through after removing it. God that sounded like thunder!

Oh no, you’ve started the “is the R8 a supercar?” conversation You can get a set of passive dampers for £1K-£2K depending on what you want to spend, so they’re not silly money. Discs and pads can be had for much less than what’s been mentioned too, it just depends on whether you’re going OEM or are happy with aftermarket. I came very close to buying one before getting a 911, but ultimately there’s a reason so many people default to a Porker…
  22. So who is then? Because to my knowledge, every other driver potentially on the table for that accolade also had a year when they were somewhat off the pace.
