  1. Everyone knows NFSU was the king of the NFS games.
  2. I always used to call the unit in my old VXR a blower rather than a heater too!
  3. All the cool kids own(ed) E6x cars with a V8
  4. I bought my 911 without ever driving it, and my VXR without seeing it or ever having driven one!
  5. Ekona

    DOT number on tyres

Well I wouldn’t buy them, put it that way.
  6. You’d have to send them adverts proving that you’d need more money to be able to replace the car, but remember to take 10-15% off the advertised price to allow for haggling as this is expected. Wait and see what they say, might not be as bad as you think
  7. Horses for courses. I loved the PDK in the Porker, but nothing can match the feeling of your own perfectly-blipped downchanges with a stick. I’d rather go slower and be more involved these days. It does depend on the car though. For example, I wouldn’t buy a manual Rolls Royce, but I wouldn’t buy a DCT Mini either. My old 645 was transformed just by being manual, but I wouldn’t consider a modern 911 without paddles tbh.
  8. Yup, and it's bone stock toyed with the idea of changing all the suspension out for adjustable stuff, or getting the BBR 200bhp NA kit, but honestly it would just change the character too much and make it less usable on a daily basis. I like the fact it's very forgiving and not that quick in a straight line, makes you work harder for it and rewards accurate driving.
  9. For some, that's also the appeal. There's a lot to be said for not standing out from the crowds always. For me personally, I see the TT as an absolutely fantastic every day car that does everything so very well, but maybe it's not as good as that special weekend car. Well, unless it's the RS of course. That's pretty much how I view my current MX5, too. It sits just behind the 911 as the best all-rounder that I've ever owned, but it's never going to give you that extra little bit that makes you smile as you start it up every day. Certainly not in stock form at least, but that doesn't mean I don't love it and thoroughly enjoy extracting every last bit of performance from it on a fun drive.
  10. True, I do buy ugly cars, I mean I bought a VX and the ragtop 350
  11. These days anything modern can keep with with other modern stuff on the fun roads, that’s been proven time and time again now I think. I’d rather have something slow, fun and rewarding that I can push rather than something silly fast that you’re always holding back on as it’s too dangerous to push that hard.
  12. Depends on how you were detected, which force, how they process the data etc. Impossible for anyone to tell you with any certainty tbh. But come on, ‘fess up: What speed in a what zone?
  13. If automated means of speed detection ie camera, then they must send you the NIP within 14 days. If caught by a person and stopped at the roadside, it’s six months to lay it before a court as them stopping you counts as the NIP.
  14. I don’t believe it will happen personally. Eventually yes, but that’s way too soon. At the moment I believe it’s lip service paid to the Greta Thunberg Fan Club for political reasons, nothing more.
  15. The four cyl version has been around since the launch, and the more powerful version is US-only due to Euro6 regs.
  16. Ironically my old Zed is probably the least favourite of all the fun cars I’ve owned, but it’s in high company so that’s not a slight on it at all. Only jap cars I’d currently look at is the ND MX5 and the GT86. Nothing else is remotely interesting to me at sensible price points.
  17. The OEM sat navs are dreadful, please don’t do this. You’ll hate it and keep using your phone anyway!
  18. Yeah, that doesn’t add up to me. Regular minor service is about £450 and that’s only every two years, major is twice that and again every two years, so low mileage might not be as relevant as age. Could be the condensers needed changing too, that can bump up the cost but then that’s not part of the service plan. The services for my old car were about £500 and £1200 IIRC, the latter including the condensers and 111pt check.
  19. Is SORN cover even a thing? That would be the equivalent of a laid up policy, and most insurers did away with those years ago. I’d stick to a regular policy and just put the lowest mileage on it they allow.
  20. No, they charge the price they can make a profit from and stay competitive, people are always free to shop around. Hooking people in with a cheap price then increasing it is nothing new in any sector. I mean I can see your point of view completely and it is frustrating when it jumps up, but I personally don’t feel this is something I’d want governmental involvement in at all. They all send out letters saying what the new premium will be, I’m not sure they can do much more than inform their customers about what the price will be then let them make their own minds up.
  21. And where would you stop? Would you enforce all supermarkets to always give you the best prices, as after all food is pretty important? Or pubs to tell you to go to Wetherspoons as it’s the cheapest? Both of those are arguably more important than car insurance after all...
  22. And they would rather lose a sale than either do the service early or lop the price of a major service off the price? Madness. How much is a major service on a Cayman these days, £900?
  23. Yes, you can. You’ll probably need some slightly longer bolts to accommodate the bracketry for the harnesses, but that’s it.
  24. Not in my watch. Or @ATTAK Z’s either, I would guess.
