  1. These days anything modern can keep with with other modern stuff on the fun roads, that’s been proven time and time again now I think. I’d rather have something slow, fun and rewarding that I can push rather than something silly fast that you’re always holding back on as it’s too dangerous to push that hard.
  2. Depends on how you were detected, which force, how they process the data etc. Impossible for anyone to tell you with any certainty tbh. But come on, ‘fess up: What speed in a what zone?
  3. If automated means of speed detection ie camera, then they must send you the NIP within 14 days. If caught by a person and stopped at the roadside, it’s six months to lay it before a court as them stopping you counts as the NIP.
  4. I don’t believe it will happen personally. Eventually yes, but that’s way too soon. At the moment I believe it’s lip service paid to the Greta Thunberg Fan Club for political reasons, nothing more.
  5. The four cyl version has been around since the launch, and the more powerful version is US-only due to Euro6 regs.
  6. Ironically my old Zed is probably the least favourite of all the fun cars I’ve owned, but it’s in high company so that’s not a slight on it at all. Only jap cars I’d currently look at is the ND MX5 and the GT86. Nothing else is remotely interesting to me at sensible price points.
  7. The OEM sat navs are dreadful, please don’t do this. You’ll hate it and keep using your phone anyway!
  8. Yeah, that doesn’t add up to me. Regular minor service is about £450 and that’s only every two years, major is twice that and again every two years, so low mileage might not be as relevant as age. Could be the condensers needed changing too, that can bump up the cost but then that’s not part of the service plan. The services for my old car were about £500 and £1200 IIRC, the latter including the condensers and 111pt check.
  9. Is SORN cover even a thing? That would be the equivalent of a laid up policy, and most insurers did away with those years ago. I’d stick to a regular policy and just put the lowest mileage on it they allow.
  10. No, they charge the price they can make a profit from and stay competitive, people are always free to shop around. Hooking people in with a cheap price then increasing it is nothing new in any sector. I mean I can see your point of view completely and it is frustrating when it jumps up, but I personally don’t feel this is something I’d want governmental involvement in at all. They all send out letters saying what the new premium will be, I’m not sure they can do much more than inform their customers about what the price will be then let them make their own minds up.
  11. And where would you stop? Would you enforce all supermarkets to always give you the best prices, as after all food is pretty important? Or pubs to tell you to go to Wetherspoons as it’s the cheapest? Both of those are arguably more important than car insurance after all...
  12. And they would rather lose a sale than either do the service early or lop the price of a major service off the price? Madness. How much is a major service on a Cayman these days, £900?
  13. Yes, you can. You’ll probably need some slightly longer bolts to accommodate the bracketry for the harnesses, but that’s it.
  14. Not in my watch. Or @ATTAK Z’s either, I would guess.
  15. ZED NOT ZEE, THIS AIN’T THE BLOODY STATES
  16. I've finally just about killed off the rear MPS4 tyres that I fitted to my MX5 back in April 2018, so it would be reasonable enough of me to give an update to this thread. In short, my opinion of them has gone up if anything, however I will comment on a couple of things: - Wear rate. In just under two years I've done 21000 miles on these tyres, and they're only just hitting the wear markers on the rears, whilst the fronts have about half their life left. That's utterly ridiculous tbh, I've never had a performance tyre come anywhere close to those levels of wear whilst staying consistent throughout. In terms of VFM, I struggle think of any other tyre that comes close to this, and whilst my usage of the car has gone from 50/50 commute/fun to about 70/30 I still think that's outstanding. When I say I have fun I mean I have fun, so rest assured they don't get grannied at all. Very, very impressive stuff. - Tyre pressures. They seem quite sensitive to pressure, more so than the MPSS, in the sense that if your pressures are not correct they can feel a bit lacking in grip in the wet. Dry isn't an issue that I ever noticed, and maybe this is only as they come to the end of their life, but in the moist if your pressures are a couple of psi or more off from what you would normally run then they can feel a bit skittish. Pop the pressures back up though and the grip (and feel) come straight back. Not a negative so much as worth remembering. - Temps slightly above freezing. I've mentioned this in another thread before, but there has been a couple of occasions where the car has felt a bit floaty in temps from 3-5c. I've only had it a couple of times, and in fairness it was on the same road (my daily commute) so perhaps it could be that, but it was a bit odd from a tyre that's otherwise been flawless. I still had grip and plenty of it, but the feel disappeared. Seemed to be fine when it colder and fine when it was warmer, and it certainly didn't happen every time, but it's a fair thing to mention in balance. Still my recommended tyre of choice if you can't get MPS4S? You bet. I've ordered another couple of rears today, and looking at the fronts I reckon it won't be until 2022 that I'll need to change them again. I do have a trackday coming up this year to try them out on so I'll give a further update then, but suffice to say I wouldn't look anywhere else for a quality set of tyres right now.
  17. But then I would argue how on Earth so many people have accidents on what are essentially the straightest roads in the country. No matter how smart the road, there will always be a better idiot.
  18. Some of them are crap though. The OG one still reigns supreme for me, but I’ll give the N64 one an honourable mention too.
  19. Wing mirrors in, and park well over to one side not help? Or get a ragtop and leave the roof down...
  20. Waaaaayyyyyy too busy these days for me sadly. I’d rather they halved the number of tickets available and doubled the price, it would make for a much more enjoyable day. Unless it rains, then Goodwood Bog is no fun at all
  21. GT hasn’t been the king for many years imho, not since GT4. PC2 is awesome once you take the time to set each car up, but that’s not something to drop in and out of really. Once done though, I’d say it’s unbeatable.
  22. Measuring the car itself would be better than measuring a random garage I had a tight garage (fnar) so I used to park closer to one side and lined the other wall with carpet where the door opened into it.
  23. I heard the Z35 will have turbo four and a V6 and hybrid and have 200 bhp and 500bhp and be fwd and 4wd and have four seats and seven doors and be coloured like mr blobby.
