  1. I would stop letting others top up for you, and start weekly checks of the level on a definitive surface. It doesn't have to be perfectly flat, but it does have to be consistent so you get an equivalent measure every time.
  2. Given the low interest rates right now, any reason you haven't just been and bought the Tesla already? Given you've managed to save £4K a month, you could've put half that on the Tesla monthly payment and still been massively comfortable.
  3. It's 1L/1KM, but yes you're correct that's within tolerances. Which I think is utter bobbins. Porsche use the same spec for their engines, and that's utter bobbins too.
  4. There's no way they could know, tbh. I'm assuming you don't do any oil level checks yourself to back this up? Just run the car as usual, and check the level after every couple of hundred miles, you'll soon know if it's burning it. You can't really fit a HR to a DE, it would cost more than the car is worth as it's not a straight forward swap.
  5. I did the maths based on those sums, and I worked out I could get a 1.6 Focus and run that for just an extra £23 a week. Or the price of a good takeaway, if you will. Proper engine, gearbox and noise. Obvious dig aside, that's a great write up. It's far more honest about the car and the use of it than you've been before, and it's a much better read for it. The para on the long distance was spot-on, and whilst I might say that because it clearly aligns with my own views, it also comes across as wonderfully honest. When you say plug in at home, how is this done? Assuming not via a regular 3-pin plug as you did on the farm!
  6. There are some things in life I worry about. There are other things that I don't. Having emissions that are exceptionally good on an MOT would go into the latter camp, and would never be thought about again.

Sounds like your Dad didn't go to the right garage. If the repair was that cheap, then it would never have been a write off,
  8. Yup, new engine I'm afraid. Or a rebuild if you so desire. However, how did they know how much it's burning unless they've run it for 600 miles? Surely you would notice that when carrying out your weekly/monthly/whenever oil check.
  9. They own it until you've paid 100% of it. However, they cannot just turn up and take it back if you've missed a payment once you get past a certain percentage (it's a different figure in Scotland than the rest of the UK IIRC, and I don't know the two figures off hand). However, all of that is immaterial to a purchaser who is unaware of the finance in place. The finance company CANNOT take the car back then, they will however have a lovely legal claim with the previous owner who took the finance out with them.
  10. It's just how it comes across, tbh. To the average Joe it looks like a bunch of loud stickered up bewinged bodykitted cars sat in a car park revving their engines. You'll have a lot of young kids around who may not be wearing ear defenders and not expecting a rev off on the stands, plus once one stand does it then it encourages the others to join in and whilst a V6 may not be the worst thing to listen to, 50 sodding Honda four pots banging off the limiter isn't the nicest of noises. Aside from the track stuff, it's a static show.
  11. Depends. I sold my VXR to a mate. He paid me by cheque but took the car there and then. When the cheque cleared I paid the finance. No issues, we're best mates so plenty of trust. I sold the Mini to a dealer. He paid us the cash directly, then sat there whilst we then paid the finance company over the phone. I sold the 911 to a random. He paid the finance directly by CHAPS (which, btw, only guarantees same day before 5pm NOT instant payment as we found out!), then when both he and I had proof the finance was clear did I give him the keys. The latter way is the only way to do it really. Both of you need to be happy the finance has been paid off, so as the buyer you should pay the finance company directly. Btw don't believe anyone who says that if you buy a car with finance outstanding that they can repossess it as that's nonsense: If you bought in good faith and didn't know about the finance, then you have clear title to the car. The finance co have to chase the person who the finance was with, they no longer have any rights to the car at all and if they take it then that's theft. *EDIT* That last para looks really harsh on Richf now, sorry mate I was still composing when you posted! I'm right though, they cannot simply repossess if you didn't know about the finance. If you did, then that's not clear title and they CAN take it back.
  12. Think you've answered your own question, Dan, most people are off on Sunday and that means the biggest opportunity for numbers through the gate. See, I see it the other way. Most people have to leave early, so if you've got a long trip then you're not likely to bother going at all.
  13. I've used a bolt, a bit of rubber hose and a couple of jubilee clips before.
  14. I have no idea why shows use Sunday as the big day. It seems ridiculous to me, why not use the first day of the weekend when you know the vast majority of people don't have to work the next day so can stay until the end? It's a big bugbear of mine, that.
  15. Love this idea! It's something I'd expect from the EP3 CTR owners club rather than us. Also you may well find that the organisers will not take very kindly to that kind of 'display', I'd certainly be checking with them first. /spoilsport, but thinking of the greater good
  16. You might be surprised, something like the Recaro Pole Positions are extremely generous yet amazingly supportive, or there are numerous buckets that come in XL editions now too which could also work for you.
  17. So you want recliners rather than proper buckets? Probably not so much of an issue for fitting you personally then, but definitely as important comfort wise Personally I'd stay away from anything that yellow though, it's a bright colour so less is more. Speak to Mondo on here from Hide n Seat, he'll be able to retrim to your own preference.
  18. Only if there's a problem. If there's no problem, you'll clear the error code from the memory.
  19. Pull the battery for an hour, bet that kills the lights.
  20. Always been fine for me in the past. Cancel the order and go elsewhere?
  21. Untick the bottom checklist. Basically, you should only have 'Forums' and 'Content I have not read' ticked
