  1. So what tyres did you have? Directional means nothing, it's the tyre as a whole that makes a difference. T1Rs were directional but gash compared with the PS2.
  2. Why do you want directional tyres?
  3. It was Danny Fanny, actually I thought about another sub-forum for proposed meets, but then it's just one more click for the lazy who may want to go to an event, but won't put their name down unless it's right in front of them. Definitely worth trying though, we could always merge if it doesn't work
  4. Heh, one of the lads at work had one of those as his first car, in purple. We used to call it the Hungry Hippo
  5. The mk1 Focus is a design classic! Bah, philistines.
  6. I don't actually expect it to be taken seriously, but the offer is there. Never let it be said I'll make extra work for others without being prepared to do it myself.
  7. I'm just glad I had the privilege to see the guy live. Amazing show, even though I didn't know any of the songs back then.
  8. Agreed, but I don't search owner's clubs to see if I like the people otherwise I won't buy the car!
  9. I tend not to use the quote button as it just makes quote pyramids. Usually it's obvious who I'm replying to. And I wub yoo vewy muchly.
  10. Can I make an alternative suggestion, one that's perhaps more radical? Ditch the sub-forums altogether. If we had two main forums, National & Local, then a sub forum in each entitled Convoys, we could reach a much bigger market. National meets will sell themselves, you could happily sub forum out each even if you wanted. What I'm talking about helping really is the local ones. If we got REALLY strict on thread titles, this would be very easy to do. I'm thinking something like this: 1. ESSEX - Pub meet at The **** Inn, Tiny Village, 25-4-16 2. YORKSHIRE - Run out across t'moors, Even Tinier Village, 17-7-16 3. SCOTLAND - Haggis eating competition, Hamlet Of Four Men & A Sheep, 3-11-16 ...and so on. Very easy to scan by eye as to events local to you (hell, even the search function would work perfectly with that!), keeps everything so simple, but allows everyone to see what is out there and when. Keep a sub-forum for convoys, with the same naming scheme. If people don't name their threads properly (and they won't!) then it's not too hard for a mod to change. If you want a volunteer mod just for that task, then I'll do it: You can set permissions so I can only mod in that forum and keep me barred from the main mods forum. Biggest issue I can see is with potential meet discussions, but that could be done like so: 1. LONDON - Potential pub meet, June/July 2016? 2. CORNWALL - Drive out, weekend of 23/24 April 2016? Again, a question mark should always be added. Easy as that. I just feel we're not really making the most of the events section, and it's too convoluted for it's own good. So yeah, merge what Grundy said here and I reckon we could sort this out easy.
  11. The 2nd finest M NA engine ever says otherwise. Special very special. Character? Maybe, I'll probably give you that one as that might have been why I didn't buy one. I would say that the M3 has a very strong identity, and part of that appeal is that it's not all shouty shouty. Some folks do want that though, I concede. Not sure I'd ever consider a car because of the owner's club though.
  12. No, I don't get the quote comment. Do I not normally use the quote button then?
  13. So we're going to write the Cayman off because it's lighter, has more power in the 3.4L and handles better? Oooookay. There's reasons not to get the 987C, but I can't say it should be those. M3 weighs the same as a 350Z, has an absolute stonking engine, and one of the best chassis of a generation. Given you're putting the Holden up as well, in every single measurable way the M3 is a superior car. I agree, the 370Z interior kills it for me too. The exterior is lovely, and a shape that was miles before it's time and is now perfect.
  14. Why did that not surprise me Well someone on here has to have good taste
  15. In terms of cars that are just crap, I've never owned a poor car. In terms of a specific car I've had that wasn't very reliable, I guess the MX-5 that rusted away is probably the worst. Still an utterly brilliant car though, I loved it!
  16. I think repeated dosings with a bowl of soapy water (Fairy Liquid is fine) is probably the best way to go. That then sucking it up with your new Vax ( ) is what I would suggest. Ultimately though you may well need to remove the carpet to clean up underneath it, or even replace altogether.
  17. True, but pretty much no-one ever spends money on buying a car to then say actually, it's a pile of crap and I don't like it. Basically people very rarely complain about an item, but they're very quick to complain about a service.
  18. So many other arguably better cars at that price point, it's why I simply couldn't consider a 370 unless you absolutely love the brand. I would certainly drive the Cayman and M3 at the very least.
  19. Take the finance out with someone else, must be a better way.
  20. It's Silverstone. It's April. Of course it's going to rain! Car looks good
