  1. I also think the Alpine is butt ugly, but I know I’m in the minority.
  2. It is official, every UK journo received the same email. AC, TG, PH, all reporting the exact same thing. It ain’t coming here. And I do feel that’s a shame. It may not be to my taste, but we’re supposed to be a global market for all now and any time a sports car isn’t available everywhere sets a very bad precedent.
  3. But they are in the same field. 2 seater or 2+2, sporty designs, turbo engines, great to drive for fun or as a daily. Price is near as dammit the same, and as I’ve said before it’s the residuals and thus the monthlies that’s make them such tempting propositions. £45k-£55k is where we all suspect the ZP would sit anyway, so it’s got some really tough competition. You’re right, there is a market for the ZP, but it’s a tiny one. Even the Alpine is being withdrawn for poor sales, and that’s universally adored. Btw, if you’ve never driven a hot 2 series you really should. They’re amazing.
  4. Market is bare? It’s fuller than it’s ever been: M240, Cayman, A110, Mustang, Supra and the venerable TT. In terms of drive alone I would expect the ZP to be better than only the TT out of that bunch. That’s a tough sell. And that’s before we get to the mega hatches that the world and his wife seem to want these days. I can see why Nissan won’t bring it here.
  5. Thank god for that, it looks like a CH-R.
  6. From Autocar: ”However, there’s bad news for the UK and mainland Europe: the as-yet-unnamed new model won’t be offered for sale here. In a statement sent to Autocar, Nissan cited a “shrinking European sports car market and specific regulations on emissions” as the reasons why it was “unable to build a viable business case” for the car’s European release” Oh well.
  7. Just noticed the bronze wheels. Nice.
  8. I’m sure he’s a clever chap, wrong guy for this though. Also, what’s with that stupid Z badge on the rear 3/4???
  9. That Jap guy is useless btw, I can barely understand him and I think the presenter feels the same. Zero mention of an auto so far, I am impressed.
  10. Won’t the rear lights on the UK cars have to have orange clusters somewhere for the indicators? Or be orange leds at least.
  11. Are those not stock 350 seats? Been a while since I’ve seen them tbh.
  12. https://www.caranddriver.com/photos/g33970241/nissan-z-proto-revealed-gallery/ Pics there btw.
  13. Actually, the more I look at the inside the more I like it. Shift lights on the cluster Yellow seems a bit washed out, but at least it’s a bright colour.
  14. Nope, that’s not for me from that angle either. But that’s worse.
  15. What’s that silver trim line above the windows about? Awful. Oh, apparantly it’s a katana sword That rear 3/4 is as bad as I thought from that angle. Did the designers of the front not speak to the guys who did the back? Interior looks alright actually. Digidash looks very nice.
  16. And that bonnet appears to have its own postcode.
  17. I’m gonna wait up for it!* *I’m not.
  18. Ah, didn’t know that. Makes more sense then, although you could’ve sacked off FB and just went with the true fans who use this forum and been sound
  19. @GranTurismoEra never drive a Nismo no, but the delicacy of the handling is what makes the Caymanseses such special driving cars. I don’t imagine the Nismo cars even get close to that, not when nothing else that are also considered fantastic drivers cars can. I don’t doubt the Nismo cars are better than the standard ones, but it’s not like the masses rave about them as unnoticed stars tbh. This is what concerns me the most about the new Z, being the same old chassis underneath. As fun as the 350 is, chassis design has come on an awful long way over the years, and if you drive one objectively in comparison to almost anything new it will show. Of course the 350 will still be fun, but the new Z needs to be pushing its competitors on more fronts than just dropping a turbo lump with more grunt in it. IMHO, of course.
  20. See, I’d argue the 350 to 370 look a hell of a lot closer than the 987 to 981 does. And before anyone gets pissy, let’s also remember I bought a 350 over the 987, so I’m not as blinkered as some would believe I don’t think it would be unfair to say that the vast majority of those who have knowledge of cars (pro drivers, journos and enthusiasts alike) would agree that the Cayman has always been a better car than the Z cars. Whether it’s right for the individual is another matter.
  21. Do your own research and you’ll see that the failure rate for the IMS on the M97 was about 5%, not exactly ideal but blown way out of proportion. In every single other aspect the 987 blows the 350/370 out of the water. And let’s not mention the difference in quality between the comparable 981 and 370, especially when the Porker has zero engine issues...
