This isn’t about whether the swap is a good idea, it’s about whether you want to change your cars. Lexus do nothing for me at all, but if you want to scratch a v8 itch that seems a cheap way of doing it.

M4 not on the list? I hate the way they drive, but gotta be worth considering in CS format at a least.

Cayman is a good shout, but I’d look for a Boxster instead. Then you have a proper alternative to the mustang: FR V8 4 seat coupe vs MR F6 2 seat convertible. Both very different cars but equally as rewarding in different ways. R8/991 won’t help you out as they’re both very wide cars. A 997 would be a much better choice and well within the lower budget, as they can still be thrown around without worrying about the width quite so much.

A lot of that is going to be down to pcp deals. For the average person, if you can put yourself behind the wheel of a perceived better badge that feels a nicer place to be behind the wheel (and let’s be honest, the Germans wipe the floor with the competition on that front) for just a little bit higher monthly payment then you’re going to do so. I believe this is partly why the 370 failed in this country, £300 pcm for a Nissan or £400 pcm for a Cayman/TT/2-series is a no brainer for many. To have to spend the money to get the car type approved in the UK & Europe when you’re not guaranteed to sell a bucketload, and with the divisive looks that’s probable, it doesn’t make financial sense. I’m sure Nissan UK would love to have a car in that segment, but unless it sells like hot cakes in the US it’s incredibly unlikely to ever happen.

Why run a square setup and unbalance the car? Stagger them and go as quick as you can, that’s what track is for Between the 888R and A052 you’re talking fractions, not sure I’d worry about it too much tbh.

Got to love Aleems arrogance (rich kid)

Oh I doubt it. I spend my working day with big man tings like that, they’re all crying their eyes out by the end of the day when we take their tv off them -
Oi, the RE050As were bloody decent tyres I’ll have you know!

Sensible policing in the first one. Pick your battles... -
Most people hate the Bridgestones as they relate to the RE040 that came as stock: the RE050A were brilliant tyres on the HR, and I ran them on my 997 too.

This is a no brainer if it works properly

Linky no worky, takes you to the group page.

*Tyres. We’re not American. The Michelins also grip in the wet fantastically well and last a ridiculous amount of time. I’m not sure why you’d ever consider the Pirelli option (although you don’t say which ones specifically), it’s not like there’s even a price difference to sway you.

Well, it kinda makes sense. Apple are one of (if not the) the most desirable brands in the world, and they’re used to buying in knowledge when required. Their expertise always used to be software and the customer experience rather than hardware, so moving into EVs where it’s not about a beautiful engine or nuanced handling but rather more how simple and integrated the package is could work. That said, it’s a million miles off if ever. Potentially a better avenue for them would be to supply the software that drives the car, both literally and figuratively. Imagine an interface for the entertainment/drive modes with the elegant simplicity that Apple are known for: that would be worth looking at.

I’d say the ZP definitely stands out among modern cars, in the same way that Caitlyn Jenner stands out in in a Miss World contest.
-
Up to you, but if you can’t trust one would you ever trust the others?
-
Agreed, sounds like the gauge to me. Bin it and try something better.

Zero fines and I’d be okay with this. Educate, don’t punish unless the p*ss taking is excessive.

Only if your oil is low, but I’m assuming you topped that up during the install. How low is the pressure? I mean you could see a fractional pressure drop if the new pipe work is significantly longer than the old and the oil pump is worn, but I’m grasping at straws here. Really there should be no difference in pressure at all.

What he said. But the Yokos ain’t cheap. However, if you’ve never been on track before then simply use whatever tyres you’re used to. You can have just as much fun on regular tyres, plus you know how the car is going to handle already. I’ve tracked recently on MPS4 and they were more than adequate for all conditions (including the torrential rain that arrived in the afternoon!).

Arguably the BRZ86 is in a class of one, certainly I can’t think of anything else that compares to it brand new. Everything else has a turbo or plappy faddles or more doors or is a bus. Unique.
-
Making a faster car is easy. Making a car feel good to drive is an art. In that respect, the BRZ86 has always been a masterpiece.
-
If you just want to go sideways easy on a DWYB day then go for it. If you care about balance and not wanting the rear to try to overtake the front all the time and able to make decent progress on the roads then it’s a terrible idea.
-
Exactly Stu. It’s offering a choice, not a direct competitor, exactly as the first one did. And we should be grateful for that in this last decade of pure ICE power trains. I don’t hate turbo cars, but revving out an NA lump to the death is one of life’s great pleasures. Outside of the super car bubble, no FI lump comes close to that feeling of having to work an engine to get the best out of it.

Likewise with the MX5, but audacious use of late braking, low weight and excellent visibility means I usually find half a chance somewhere Does hurt being out accelerated by a diesel MPV though...
-
Accept it for what it is and revel in it, rather than worry about it trying to compete with others and you’ll really enjoy it. Think of it as a coupe MX5, delicate and fun rather than a speed bruiser. I’ve driven a couple of BRZ86s and they’ve all put a smile on my face. Anyone who says they’re too slow and need more power just doesn’t get it.
