  1. They can carry more speed into the corners, due to the aero and the wider tyres. This means they're braking later, so less chance to outbrake someone. So less overtaking, which is compounded by following in dirtier air.
  2. Neither are known for being unreliable. You're thinking of Peugeot and Citroen.
  3. That's how I view the new changes too. I think it'll be worse than ever, tbh.
  4. Things break, clips fail, rubber hoses perish, gasket fall apart.
  5. I still think Massa is a pussy for coming back. It's not like Williams are exactly ploughing forward and challenging at the top, is it? Be good to see Bottas in the Merc, but I think he's going to massively struggle. Which will give RB (and maybe Ferrari?) a bit of hope, if they can steal enough 2nd places and Lewis breaks down then they could challenge. I assume no-one realistically thinks that anyone other then MB with Lewis is likely to win the title this year? Could well be the most boring year for ages.
  6. Looks ace, that's a lovely red. Did you get it coated as well?
  7. Ooh that's lovely, I'd buy that for that price.
  8. And anyone trusts the government to not change the law at their whim? Snooper's charter that was passed in November last year, anyone? If the data doesn't exist, they can't get their hands on it.
  9. IIRC on the mk1s a single exhaust is the 150bhp FWD version, personally I'd want the Quattro at least pref with 225bhp, gotta be doable in that budget I'd hope. Other than that, it's the dash clocks which go screwy and cost a fortune, check/budget for replacement. Mk2 a thoroughly better car, are they in budget?
  10. Hexhead filters ftw. Otherwise I usually get a Mann filter or OEM. Alternatively I'll simply pick the biggest one that'll fit, as more filtering capacity is really what you're after. IIRC the Subaru ones are usually a good size, or the Vauxhall ones.
  11. No, MPSC2 give significantly more dry grip than any other tyre barring a slick. Next up would be the 888Rs, then the AD08Rs. Yokos aren't even remotely close to the Michelins.
  12. No flaming at all my friend. Trouble is the Cayman is more than twice the 370, with a delicacy in steering and chassis the Nissan would love to be able to get near.
  13. Tintop no, ragtop yes. And I say that as an ex-350 ragtop owner.
  14. Why do think I bought a poverty spec one with no options? I jest, I bought it because it had a manual gearbox, options didn't remotely interest me, Electrically they're sound, you might get the odd issue with the nav or the heater but they're easily sorted for a couple of hundred. V8s can suffer from dry valve stem seals which leads to massive oil consumption and cat failure if not dealt with, but a couple of grand sees you fixed up for 100k miles. £2K might seem pricey, but that's the going rate for a new DE lump including fitting, so you can see why I say that it's no more expensive to run. BMW do a 'value pack' for brakes and stuff too, which is their way of keeping older cars within their dealers. Better fuel economy than the 350 as well!
  15. Nope, it cost me the same to run a 350 as it did run a 911. You wouldn't pay £20K for an AM gearbox though, you'd get a specialist to repair just like you would with a 350.
  16. We did a Wicked Variety bucket + Zinger Tower burger tonight
  17. What, black?! It's Basalt Black, same as my old one was. Lovely deep colour, loads of metallic fleck. I thought you'd approve, given your last car.
  18. Porsches cost no more than the 350 to run, neither would the Lotus. BMW is there or thereabouts (some prices are silly cheap, some monstrous), TVR specialists aren't cheap. Pick an Aston that's had all the niggles sorted and you'll be fine, Maser you'd need to be brave I admit. Merc I don't know about, tbh. What people really need to understand is that the 350 is very expensive to run and maintain, which makes the leap to more premium metal much more bearable than you'd think.
  19. I can think of more useful places to put my money. Like KFC.
  20. Assuming £35K budget: Cayman 911 Exige (could run it for a year and lose zero money) Evora definitely, but early cars had iffy build quality. Suspension amazing though! Vantage V8 M3 E92 Maser GT C63 TVR (pick your flavour) My pick? http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/porsche/911-carrera-997/porsche-911-carrera-2/5942740 Don't be put off by the non-S, it's quicker than the 997.1 S and with a bulletproof engine.Manual 'box too, absolute pick of the range for me.
  21. Heh, was only reading about this today in the new issue of Car mag. Looks amazing!
  22. It's the other side of the cat, it measures cat efficiency.
  23. If they can spin it by saying all money goes to the NHS and schools, you think the majority won't suck it up? We already seem to have accepted speed cameras as a necessary evil, do we not?
