  1. Horrible, isn't it? I don't know why it takes so long.
  2. Well spotted, that man!
  3. I hate Radeon cards, their driver support has always been so poor compared with Nvidia. Even if on occasion the hardware has been better, I just can't bring myself to ever consider one.
  4. If we're talking about cards with excessive heat, I had one if the original 5800Ultra cards, like a bloody Hoover when that fan kicked in!
  5. This is the same bit of kit I installed on a mate's Gallardo the other week, much simpler to set up than the D1 was.
  6. The important points are where it takes you from 20 to 40. That's the difference between it being playable and unplayable. True, but they were spikes rather than overall higher numbers. At that point, I'd simply lower the gfx quality setting to achieve a more stable frame rate.
  7. That's fine, but why didn't you just say that in the first place?! And for clarity, never have I given anything than genuine and helpful advice to ANYONE who has ever PMd me about tyres. If they make the effort to ask then I always make the effort to give a reasoned and detailed answer. I know I can come across as brusque in open forum if people are asking stupid questions, but I refute the allegation that I'd ever do that when someone genuinely reaches out for advice. How do you feel about modern BIOSeses and other programs that self-boost CPUs and gfx chips without intervention? Any good, or be just as worthwhile turning off?
  8. FF does it too, but sometimes it still gets things wrong which is where the macro comes in handy. Or even just filling in email addresses or using it for bbcode, that's also helpful.
  9. That kinda shows my point off for me, most of the time it's only an extra 5-8fps despite a whole ghz o/c. If it could take you from 45fps to 60fps then yes, absolutely worth it, as if you're not gaming at 60fps on the PC then you might as well be on a console.
  10. I love the macro features on my Logitech one, but oddly not for games: They're so helpful for filling out webforms with your name and address! I was looking at the keypad things yesterday, like the ones that also have a mini joystick by the thumb? Never tried one though, can't work out if they'd actually be any better or just a bit gimmicky.

    Thoughts?

Really you'll need to take it for a long run and put it under load at various rpms, exhausts never sound quite the same at static.

    Thoughts?

Is this the test with the blowing exhaust?
  13. Come on then, what's the trick? Don't be subject changing now.
  14. Condescending much? Erm, eff you buddy, I used to do some serious overclocks back in the day, but then I realised it was a law of very much diminishing returns and I'd rather play games than run stress tests. Fine, oh mighty wise one who is clearly the god of all things, enlighten us. Tell us how you're going to revolutionise the PC gaming industry outside of putting a bigger fan/water cooling/pelting cooling on a chip, all of which costs money that could go to a better card in the first place.
  15. I bet 90% of people on here have no idea who that is/was, y'know.
  16. Why would you buy a cheap keyboard? It's the one thing you interact with every single time, a cheap and uncomfortable one is going to ruin the experience. It's like getting a cheap crappy seat for your car: If the rest is amazing, matters not if you're uncomfortable. And I was kidding about the 5400. Can you even buy drives that slow any more?! You're right about the PSU though, I forgot that bit. I like the Corsair modular ones, means you don't have a ton of spare cables floating around. Stock cooling is fine. Nothing in my setup is any different than how it came from factory, and I've no desire to faff around with overclocking for an extra 2fps. Just get a better gfx card in the first place
  17. If it's a gaming PC, just set your budget then get the fastest gfx card you can, at least 16GB of RAM, and the fastest CPU you can. Everything else is secondary. Get an ugly case, get a 5400rpm hard disk, just don't compromise on the core stuff. Oh, and get the best controller you can, be that m&k or proper joypad, as that's what you'll be interacting with. There you go, done. No credentials, but it's the right approach

    720S in the flesh

LHD is their biggest market, hence the P1 being LHD too
  19. I used to enjoy the build too, then I realised it was just faff and risk that I didn't really need to add to the experience. Nope, much rather pay some Filipino kid $2 a week to build it for me
  20. Self build is just a PITA, rather spend my days using the thing than building it
  21. Self build or pre built? I can highly recommend PC Specialist if not self building, they really are superb and excellent customer service.
