  1. DO NOT DRIVE, MUCH LESS TRACK, ON THAT TYRE.
  2. Brilliant stuff, thanks John Any more users of these out there? Don't care what size or what car, any and all opinions gratefully received!
  3. I think he'd like something that doesn't sound like a sewing machine, given the choices so far
  4. See i'm not that much of a connoisseur to be honest. If i've not driven either, the Gen 1 will be immense compared to what im driving now. Its the reliability and Porsche anxiety which terrifies me. Another reason to get a gen2 It's not about connoisseuring, it's about the fact the gen1 suspension really is quite duff and the sport mode unsusable on UK roads, plus the satnav doesn't even have 7 digit postcodes on the early cars! It's like going from a 300ZX to a 350Z, such is the difference. A 987 Cayman R would have to be in with a shout at that budget level though, arguably more special? Tbh anything you've mentioned on here carries a risk cost, be it Pork or Maser or R8 or old Mustang: All have their own expensive parts. Hell, so does a 350 now the engine replacement costs have jumped. That said, there's nothing here likely to cost anything more than a 3 series, which you've been happy to own and certainly nothing compares to repair costs on an RRS! Do your research and you'll stop being so worried, as I've said before a proper inspection on a 997.1 removes 95% of the risk of something catching you out, and part costs are the same or cheaper than a 350. MaserGT is an amazing car, but I'd want the 4.7 with the robotised manual, not the auto. If you love the Merc then the finance deals on them are pretty attractive right now, go drive one and see if you can justify it. You're only here once
  5. 997.1 is brilliant, but the suspension and PCM just isn't as good as the gen2. Hell. I'd take a gen2 non-S over the gen1 S, the way the engine revs more freely makes up for the lack of 10bhp,
  6. Dare I say a 350z stripped for track? It's something you know, it'd be a laugh, then you can still get the Panny to tow with.

    Ford Imperial Blue

FIB the same colour as the mk1 Focus ST, yeah? It's alright, but it's not what I'd call a classic colour.
  8. I wouldn't get a 718, the engine just doesn't sound good enough yet. A used 981 GTS would be far better. I think either a 997.2 which would amaze you every day as well as be usable, or the '60s Mustang & a daily. If the Mustang is the dream then do it, but I think you'd be bored with the new one as it's a good car for what it is, but it's no Mustang IMHO.

    Ford Imperial Blue

Meh, just another blue. Might as well stick with Azure. If you're going different, go proper different.
  10. Holy crap, I remember those wristbands! I also remember the old trick of touching a radiator before opening up a PC to ground yourself, same idea just cheaper. Was a PITA dragging the tower into the bathroom though
  11. He's not funny, but he thinks he is. He's paid amazingly well and the least he could do is show some respect to the team that works hard for him and the fans that turn up to see him. One word answers in interviews and sounding like you'd rather be anywhere else is simply not fair, and it's a little bit pathetic tbh. I think he's a dull driver too, no flair or clever racer's mind, just a moaning old man who is very much Seb's bitch. He's the biggest knob in F1 right now, and that takes some doing when Lewis is in full gangsta-mode!
  12. I agree, but everyone has their budget and if you really can't afford it, you really can't afford it. For a general PC yes, an SSD makes more of a difference than anything but for gaming, an extra 15fps is the difference between stuttering and silky smooth.
  13. Given the choice of a regular 7200 and a 1080 or an SSD and a 1070, I'd pick the former every day. I mean I don't as I run 2x SSDs and 2x 7200s, but in theory for a gaming machine I'd spend every last penny on the gfx first and foremost.
  14. I love the silly o'clock races, they're the best ones for me. Watching them when no-one else is up, and then they're done and you still have the whole day to yourself.
  15. Good question, I've no idea. I assume full, as it doesn't look like the car is allowing any slip at all.
  16. It won't interfere with the airbag at all, you're literally just poking it inside the trim.
  17. I don't use instant flash on mine, but flicking to high beam for 10+ secs of driving is fine. Comes on, goes off, no probs. Really, you shouldn't be flashing people on the roads. At night it just blinds them, and during the day a hand signal is more positive.
  18. http://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/D2S-Philips-WhiteVision-35W-5000K-Xenon-HID-Bulb.html There's a 4000 lumens on a D2S
  19. Well that's just daft. Question is though, when is a kitchen not a kitchen? What's the minimum you can remove before it's not a kitchen any more? I'd say a sink & cooker really, so just pull those out. store in the garage and suddenly it's nothing more than a utility room...
  20. Look for the lumens output: That's the most important thing. These are what you want: Most bulbs are 2800, these bad boys are 4000! Significantly better, and bearing in mind that HIDS last for about 10 years then they're peanuts really.

    Wanli tyres

Makes sense, if you think about it. Probably chopped in against something else, tyres were low so needed changing, might as well put the cheapest things on to maintain profit margin on the basis the buyer is very likely not to be an enthusiast, as enthusiasts don't buy the 2.7L version. Depends what was on there before too, might've been used Linglongs on the back and 040s on the front! Ironically all they've done is given me a huge thing to barter over when buying it. Not that I'd buy that, but you know what I mean.
  22. You've got lots of chavvy friends
  23. Literally just push it under it, there's enough slack that the lining will pop away enough to accept the cable then pop back in position holding it. I agree with Stu, I don't like suction cup either. The Blackvue also cannot be readily seen from the outside unless you're really looking, due to shape and where it sits.
