  1. Labour were selling a golden ticket to the middle class youth, and they bought it hook, line and sinker. I can't say I blame them in fairness, and in a way it's a shame that Corbyn didn't get in so they can see just how much bull he was selling them, but that will come with time. The good thing about lots of young 'uns voting now is that when they grow up and realise how the world works, that's plenty of people to vote Tory instead. I don't blame Corbyn or Labour for this mess at all though. I congratulate them on a fantastic campaign, they did exactly what they needed to do. Whoever advised TM needs firing, and if it all came from her then she's the one that needs firing instead.
  2. It seemed like such a good idea six weeks ago, but then that was before May decided to shut herself in a room and not bother campaigning. I just don't get their strategy. Where was May? Where the hell was Boris, the most likeable Tory for decades? Or Rees-Mogg, someone else people like? Why did they not see that their strategy wasn't working and flood the country & media with faces and soundbites and decent policies even a couple of weeks ago? And why of why oh why even mention the dementia tax thing? Despite it being significantly better than the option we have now, it was never ever going to be a popular measure. Honestly, this is the least successful campaign since the Argies took a shine to the Falklands.
  3. Not sure mate but have a read here https://fullfact.org...ts-brexit-deal/ in another of TMs folding under pressure moments she promised a parliamentary vote on the exit deal. Perfect, I couldn't remember what was said/agreed. Shame, as otherwise even a minority government could simply push through a Brexit deal, but if the majority now have to agree on it... Let's be honest though, whatever deal the Tories get Labour, LD and the SNP won't be happy with and will vote against it. Petty point scoring.
  4. Do we know if the sitting government HAVE to put the Brexit deal to a vote? Like legally have to, rather than just probably should to keep things nice?
  5. More people voting is always a good thing, even if they're voting in the way I'd like them to.
  6. I did have to chuckle at the collapse of the SNP. IndyRef2 doesn't seem to be terribly popular does it?!
  7. Labour will never win a majority with Corbyn in charge, and clearly May never will either. Needs BoJo and The Other Milliband for a proper contest.
  8. I'm not even sure a new GE in a few months would give a different result. It would need the Tories to do something massively different to get a majority, which basically means BoJo. I love that guy, but I'm not convinced I want him in place for Brexit talks. Labour are a billion miles from a majority, even with the best election campaign for years, so there's nothing really more they can do there. Either way, this is all happening at the worst possible time, both for Brexit and for the markets as my holibob money will now cost me a shedload more
  9. Well, I'm sure Corbyn is happy but this result really helps no-one at all. Can't see TM sticking around, she's dropped a huge b*llock here. However, on the upside Salmond lost his seat  Couldn't happen to a nicer guy.
  10. I would genuinely rather Labour win outright than have a hung parliament, as that would likely mean a coalition of Labour, SNP, LD and Green to get them over the magic mark for power. That is just going to be one massive clusterf*ck. If it's that badly hung, I suspect we'll get another election in six months if that.
  11. Can I get an x-ray vision ocular implant?
  12. Agreed, anything is better than nothing.
  13. I don't see how that would be effective. Either someone will come forward and do it for them (friend or sympathiser), or they won't care because they'll see these people as non-true believers and wouldn't want to be given a funeral by them anyway. I mean, it's a nice gesture and a definite step forward, but I can't see it stopping anything. These people are so far beyond normal Islam anyway, anything can be twisted to suit a purpose.
  14. YT some videos, even the best waxes don't compare to the sheeting effect of water over a coated surface.
  15. Gentlemen, can I suggest we simply stop responding to Strudel's comments in threads like this? Every time he posts it seems to take us off track with regards to how he likes to focus on things and how the rest of us cannot see just how he comes to these conclusions. I humbly suggest that we never will, and neither do I think he brings anything to the table in terms of moving these debates forward. All we are doing is 'feeding the troll', and that's not making for adult discussions at all as it's becoming Us vs Him. That's not great for the forum, and I'll be the first to stand here and suggest it's not making great reading for others. People like Stu etc I can happily debate with for hours, despite being miles apart in terms of ideas and thoughts. We all have different political POVs, but bickering with Strudel is doing none of us any favours and I suggest we rise above it and stop entertaining him on the more grown-up threads.
  16. I don't disagree that EV will eventually take over, but I don't think it'll be in my lifetime at all. Too much infrastructure has to change first, and that's going to be a hard sell.
  17. Given how much you like a good bit of research, and you're clearly not a completely unintelligent moron, I can't understand how you feel there's not enough information out there for to disseminate enough fact to make a reasoned decision. You do masses of research into making an exhaust leak or filling a mount with rubber, but you won't do it for who's actually running the country? How odd.
  18. So 16 years then? Jeez man, that's even more optimistic than I thought you might say. Shame you're not a betting man, I'd have put my house on that one!
  19. Agreed, even I like that in black.
  20. You could do a sportsman's bet, y'know. The point was more for you to define moving away from fossil fuels. You say within our lifetime, but what would you consider as us successfully moving away from oil & gas.
  21. Define 'move away', and I'll take that bet.
  22. I can almost guarantee there will be very strong protests (I hesitate to use the word riot) in major cities if the Tories win today. It almost makes me want to see Labour win, just to see if we get the same thing from right-wingers. And of course, anyone who voted Tory will be called evil and morally bankrupt and that we wrecked the country. I just want the best for my country, I couldn't really care less who was in power as long as they make things better. If Labour win and they can make things better without screwing me to the wall then I'm all for it.
  23. So what happens when everyone switches to free electricity, and tax revenues drop? What do you think will then be taxed or taxed higher to compensate?
  24. And yet, if you break the points down into a more rational state, they're pretty much how I feel about Labour's plans. Not to the extreme of terrorist's friend or that nonsense, but not entirely unreasonable. From a purely English language/media POV though, that's one of the best front pages The Sun have done for many years. It's absolutely stunning in terms of hitting their targets bang on, and the artwork is superb. Fish carcass on the bin lid
