    bye bye sti

Good. Should’ve killed it off years ago, or stuck with the hatchback idea (which now looks to have been ahead of its time with the Golf R and M140!). I’ve driven the current one earlier this year, and although it’s better in every measurable way than our one it’s still not good enough. It’s not as quick, it’s not as fun, and the interior isn’t as good as the competition. Crappy fuel economy was only ever going to help it go one way in the end.
  2. I meant more in terms of engineering design than faux-motorsport crossover. RX is a very fast growing and exciting sport though, I can see it being bigger than ‘proper’ rallying very soon, if it isn’t already. The Z4 is pitched at a price level above the Zed, always has been. The rise of PCP has made the TT/Cayman/Z4 much more achievable, which I’m sure is partly the reason why the 370 never really stood a chance at selling as well. Why have a budget Jap car when you can have the premium German model? The Supra will have the same issue I think so hopefully Toyota will pull their finger out re finance offers, unless they’re intending to only sell a handful a year.
  3. MY EYES OH GOD MY POOR EYES Cheers for taking & posting those though Adrian, that must've taken a fair while to do They do nicely show that I don't think me and SEMA will ever be suited though
  4. See, I genuinely think we've started to see the shift back to either manual or automatic. The day of the dual clutch in anything other than supercars is numbered now the likes of the auto in the current gen M Lites is so good (indeed BMW are ditching DCT going forward on the M cars), and the demand for manuals is increasing among the enthusiasts. Even the 370ZN was only offered in manual over here... I'd also have an I4T with paddles over an electric car, but then I'd take a 1L diesel over an electric car too so maybe that point is moot for me. I don't hate paddle-shifters btw, I just think there's a time and a place for them: Great in a 911 or a 488, not so great in a hot hatch or small coupe. The Supra is irrelevant as it's a BMW co-venture, it'll be the same auto 'box and I6T as in the new Z4. Look towards the Gazoo Yaris to see where Toyota are pinning their money to, supercharged AND manual Silly money though
  5. You’re never allowed to criticise my choice of colours on a car ever again
  6. Really? I like the copper on the outside but it’s massively overdone on the inside where they’ve managed to turn diamond stitching into snakeskin, and those wheels are awful. I’d happily take a plain one, but AM seem to have lost the plot with their special editions of late.
  7. Trouble is, that could just as easily be a statement from Brake or similar. That’s the really worrying thing. Picking up on what Rock Steady said though, I’m convinced we could lower the accident rate by at least 50% if people started indicating their intentions. Why so many people are so lazy they can’t even be bothered to reach 30mm (or four postcodes in the case of the Evora) to flick a turn signal on is beyond me. Just doing that one simple thing every single time would make such a difference.
  8. Same company I’m with, but via Sky. I can tell you their claims department is excellent, and willing to work with you when it comes to getting your car repaired rather than written off. Bit slow to mark a case as settled perhaps even when it has been, but then I don’t know of an insurer who is particularly quick in that regard. I’ve been with them for a few years now across multiple cars, if that tells you anything.
  9. Just checking And who was the insurer they offered? If they even said.
  10. Do you mean Performance Direct? http://www.performancedirect.co.uk/ Bear in mind they’re just another broker, so check who the insurance policy is actually with.
  11. That’s longer than most Karcher units last Im still using my PB lance adapted for my Kranzle, had to strip and clean it once or twice but that’s acceptable to me.
  12. Not seen it yet... I’ve come to the conclusion it’s just average sci-fi, and not actually Star Trek at all. That’s okay, it’s still watchable but I don’t find myself desperate to watch it in the way I did DS9 or VOY, or even GoT for something more up to date. I don’t think it’s the story or setting so much as the really quite poor acting. The captain appears to have a bit of life, but everyone else is dead in the eyes.
  13. Not sure if you remember the thread, but a 335i estate was on the short list at the time. Ultimately it didn’t have a V8 so wasn’t going to happen, but if I’d wanted something to lug loads around in I’d have been very tempted. Not sure a 335 in general is a more sane choice than a 645 though, both have expensive running costs, both similar inside, 335 more practical but I don’t need 4 seats. I definitely wouldn’t write one off for future ownership though
  14. Casual bit of advertising at the end there so subtle I nearly missed it! Are these guys popular then? I’ve never heard of them.
  15. I just have a thing for ugly cars I guess the 911 was the only good looking car I’ve ever really owned, all the others have been ugly ducklings. I totally get your POV Col, but there are people out there (and on here) who will buy an inferior car just because it’s different. Not because they genuinely prefer it, but strictly because it’s not what everyone else has. To me, that’s insane.
  16. True, but again I don’t care what joe bloggs is buying, I care about what I want.
  17. I buy the car I like, who cares what others think? I’ve never understood why people spend thousands of pounds based on the opinion of others, mind boggling. Its like you finding the dream house in California and everyone else saying how amazing it is, so you go and move to a council house in Clacton.
  18. Rosso Corsa is the chav’s choice of Ferrari colour! Especially with crema, just no.
  19. A TdF 355 spider with biscuit interior is just about perfection.
  20. TdF blue for me. Or go with the classic Giallo Fly. I'd never want a red Ferrari. Unless it was Rosso Mugello or Fiorano. Then I might make an exception.
  21. C63 at least sounds decent. It's a nicer place to be inside as well, although the Komand isn't quite as good as the iDrive.
  22. PCP is your friend So anyway, Ferrari. Why isn't it red?!?!
  23. In London, about £10000000. In your neck of the woods, I reckon £100-£200 is probably about right. Personally I wouldn't be spending money on either, as a bit of surface corrosion is standard. I'd be changing the tyres first or at the very least getting a geo done so you don't end up in the canvas!
