Just to bump an old topic... Anyone ever decat with the stock exhaust? I know it's more common to change the backbox first, but I was just wondering if anyone had left the stock box in place with a decat, and what the volume was like on it? Any noticeable power loss due to the lack of back-pressure? Dan

Anyone here know of any particularly loud exhausts for the Z that will have TDOs reaching for their black flags when on track? Anyone ever had any issues at any tracks (specifically Bedford really, as they've clamped down immensely in the last few months) with any aftermarket exhaust? Whilst I'm after a new exhaust for the car, I don't want anything too brash that's going to start tripping noise meters on drive-bys as some Jap exhausts can do. Trackdays are too much fun to start limiting myself to only a few tracks round the UK. Thanks, Dan

Just in case anyone else wants to know, the link has now changed to http://www.cj-motorsports.com/03pinout.htm Dan

Basically what they're saying is that if you fit this to your car and something happens to the engine because of it, then Nissan won't honour the warranty. IRL that's never going to happen as they've got to prove it was the direct cause of any engine damage, which (barring hydrolocking) is never going to happen. S-tune means that Nissan will honour any warranty if it's on there, R-tune means they won't (or will try and wriggle out of it). Obviously if anything did go wrong you'd put the stock airbox back on before taking it to the stealers. Looks very nice, but I can't imagine it's any better/worse than all the other kits out there.

That wax is just a free sample of the stuff, as I've got the same kit as you. Wash the car, clay the car, wash the car, polish the car, wax the car. Job's a carrot.

On the off chance anyway... Hi! :bye:

Ummm... Orange?! I'll be honest and say I don't know which is which, but it was the darker of the two.

By the Birchanger roundabout (I think that's where you were coming out of), you then headed down the M11 southbound when I turned off to the airport. I did wave as I drove past you but it was a bit dark so I'll excuse you if you didn't see it! :bye: Anyone?

Bloke driving on his own, you were heading towards Lt. Hadham, I managed a wave and flash :bye: Anyone on here?

That's a great thread, nice one. The only issue I have with doing that is that I'm using an iPhone so I may need to get creative with regards to keeping the thing in the dock. Also (and slightly off topic here), does anyone know if the Dension charges the iPod as well when it's in the cradle? The diagrams seem a little fuzzy on that website of theirs, although I'm guessing no as it specifically states it for all the other Dension products.

All AFAIK. I would imagine so, but I can only go on my particular car. And to top it all off I purchased one of the cassette-type adaptors today as I didn't fancy mucking around with FM transmitters, only to find that the Bose stereo just spits the thing back out at you! So, to add to the above, cassette adaptors DO NOT work either. This is getting expensive, this music in a car lark. I'll have to get an FM one now, so I'll have a quick search on here and see what everyone is using. Dan

Hey all, Just a heads up for further clarification, but the PA11-NIS iPod adaptor lead thingy as seen on 350Z-Tech and as made by USA-SPEC DOES NOT work with the MY06 Bose UK stereo. I'd seen this mentioned around here along with the noise that the UK Bose differs to the US one but there was no clarification as to whether it did or did not fit 100% (at least that I could find mention of in a search), so I took the plunge and ordered one on the off chance it would work. Sadly, it doesn't, so I'm now off hunting for an FM transmitter to do the job. The reason it does not fit is that the rear of the UK Bose only has three sockets which are fully taken by the stock wiring, unlike the US Bose (as seen on 350Z-Tech) which has a spare 4th socket for you to plug the adaptor into. The UK has just a spare gap roughly blanked off, and you can see the PCB behind it so there's no socket under the blank. Could one be fitted? Possibly as there's space for it, but the wiring and electronic skill needed to do so is well beyond anything I can figure out. I'll let someone else try that one. I've put as many key words into this post as I can to help anyone else who may want to search for this in the future, so that's why it may scan a little bit weird. Mods, if there's any other words need adding then please edit at your leisure: Anything to help someone else wasting the best part of £100! Dan

God I'd kill for a garage that big... I've got 20mm gap at the front of the car and just 15mm at the back in mine. Beautiful cover that, custom made?

Heh, in that case I humbly bow to your superior knowledge!

No dont drain the fuel , fill it right to the brim this way you wont leave an air gap , besides which I'm sure the Zed doesnt have a drain plug on the fuel system.. Fuel wont go bad in 3 months if you do this But surely you'll still have air in there? I'll admit I'm no expert on the Z and its fuel system, but surely there's some kind of vent that allows fumes to escape and not build up in there, meaning that the tank isn't fully airtight? Either way, I'd not take the risk. Maybe drain is the wrong word. Burn it by driving instead!
-
Drain the fuel. I wouldn't want 3-month old petrol to be in there when I drove it again after that time.
-
Sod that, the weather's nice so I'm off out for a drive!
-
Got it! Three bad points so far: 1. The brand-new gearshift rattles 2. There's a clatter from underneath (sounds like a heatshield) 3. It doesn't quite fit in my garage. Whoops. However, I really don't care as driving along today with roof down and a V6 note around you makes everything complete. Thanks for the welcome everyone, I guess I'm actually here to stay now.

Right, didn't happen yesterday as the finance company made what is technically known as 'a total c*ck-up'. Just off to the dealership now to actually try and pick my car up today: Fingers crossed, eh? I only want to give them thousands of pounds in exchange for a lump of metal and plastic. You wouldn't have thought it was that hard, would you? *sulks*

Jersey, not France *runs off to form the Derren Brown fanclub*

Wasn't it on C4 as well, not the BBC? *googles* Yes, it was. Sad that I can remember that, really. Cracking telly though whether you believe it was real or not. If it was then even a blank would've killed him, as I remember him shooting a blank at a melon (or other fruit) at point blank range about halfway through the show, and it ripped the thing to pieces.

Same thing we've been discussing here? My thoughts still stand. The kid was an idiot, his friends were idiots for getting in the car with him, and I feel nothing but sadness for the friends and family of the dead.

3 days to go.

Honestly? I'd have the BM out of that lot. Cheaper than the others so you can put the money towards any repairs, arguably the best engine there, and a lot of character. Of course you have the badge, but I'd look past it and find a very good car underneath. The Alfa is beautiful but fragile and Alfa dealers are horrible, the TT handles like a bucket on wheels and is too poseurish (but you might want that, indeed that's probably the reason I'd get an Alfa!), and there's not too much wrong with the Z, it's just that the BMW is the better drive. I'd be happy with any of those on my drive tbh, except the TT.

I'd say they're comparable in a way, in that neither are going to bought by the man in the street who doesn't know a whole lot about cars. Granted, one's a 2+2 and one's a full saloon, but still they're both cars that go very fast, handle very well (probably, can't see lotus failing on that one) and are going to have iconic status, if they haven't already. Put it this way: I suspect most of us on here would pick the GT-R over the eagle for that kind of money, and we're all car nuts I'm guessing. But yeah, overall I will happily concede that they're not direct competitors for each other. I'm daft, but not yet totally stupid.
