  1. Is that the only reason you didn't go for the 45s? I run the PS2s as well but in stock sizes, by far the best tyre I've ever used if a little pricey.
  2. Got a link? Can't find the damn press release on their site at all
  3. Seen them before on other cars, personally I really like them
  4. But what width? Profile alone doesn't alter the height of the sidewall, only in conjunction with the width. For example, 255/40 would be better than 265/35 IYSWIM.
  5. As long as you like them, that's all that matters matey! As for new tyres, it depends. They're not going to be cheap, but are they going to be cheaper than repair bills if you ditch your car and you know you could've done something about it? I know I bang on about this a bit on here, but the tyres are the only thing keeping you in contact with the road so personally I would fit the very best you can and then worry about the rest of the car. I've just seen too many posts on various car forums over the years where people have questioned why they should bother putting decent and/or correctly sized rubber on their car, and then post up a week later saying they've binned it. It never gets any less upsetting to read, and I'd hate that to happen to you matey, especially when you already don't feel comfortable with the car.
  6. If you're sticking with 18s (and for driving purposes, I would) then go for 225/45/18 and 245/45/18. If you want to go for 19s for the looks (or even 20s) then I have no idea but I know many people on here will!
  7. No worries mate, I can appreciate how frustrating the TC can be at times when you just want to drive normally! Clicky here for the TC reset procedure
  8. Profile is just the height of the tyre expressed as a percentage of the width, so a wider tyre should have a lower profile to keep the height the same. A 265/18 tyre should be ideally a 40 profile to keep as close to stock, as there's only a 1.3% difference then.
  9. Yeah, I've used Envy for parts before but their website doesn't differentiate between the coupe and the roadster (not even the Z-Store), so I'm still none the wiser about what will fit and what won't. I'm guessing the only real way to find out is to give them (and Adam) a ring and see what's out there, I just wondered if there was a list already available that I hadn't discovered yet. I'm in no real hurry so I'll get onto the case in the new year and post up what I find. Thanks for the reply though bud
  10. Stock sizes for 18s are 225/45F and 245/45R, so at least you've got a stagger there still even if it is 10mm different. The profile on the rear isn't too bad, but you've got a 5.2% difference so that could be throwing the TC into a bit of a fit. I presume they're the same brand as well, as you really shouldn't be mixing tyres on a sports car. If they're different then that could also account for any issues you've got. Running tyres bigger than stock isn't an issue as long as you've got wheels that fit, as many on here do that same thing. I'd try a calibration and see where that gets you.
  11. Ouch, 20mm wider than stock and a smaller profile. What are you running up front?
  12. I did my first FOS this year, and it was utterly brilliant. Watching Hamilton go up the hill in last years car, but what turned out to be his first championship winning season was a particular highlight, as was watching the current crop of WRC cars being run ragged through the rally stage. Getting up close and personal with all the supercars on the Sunday Times stand was very awesome, even if the Veyron bit was sadly roped off (poor show says I ). Oh, almost forgot 009 being there, just weeks after I'd watched it take 1st in GT2 at my first ever Le Mans! It was a very good weekend, but I'm not sure if I'll do it again next year as much of the stuff will be the same. Almost certainly make it the year after, though.
  13. So what size tyres are you running? Same as stock or different? At least that'll rule one particular issue out (or in!).
  14. Sounds perfectly normal to me. The TC will let you spin both wheels in the wet in a straight line, but if it detects one wheel spinning faster than the other then it'll kick in and kill the fun/stop you ending up in a ditch. It's stability control rather than traction control, so it's trying to keep the car stable as opposed to stopping the wheels spinning. If you don't lift off enough to give the car a chance to settle the weight is still over the front wheels giving you less grip at the back, so you need to come off it altogether and let the natural stability give you the balance back. Mine annoys the hell out of me when pulling out of junctions in the damp so I leave it firmly off unless it's dreadful weather., and even then there's not that much difference as I experienced at Anglesey a couple of months ago in monsoon conditions: I wasn't any slower on track with the electronics turned off. That said, I'd agree with everyone else here about checking the profile and width of your tyres compared with stock, and it won't hurt to reset the stability control either (there's a guide on here somewhere, check the FAQs).
  15. Having pretty much decided that I don't want to touch the stock suspension on my car at all as it gives me the perfect combination of comfort, compliance and feel, my next step is to add as much bracing to the car as possible. Given that the roadster has that massive cross-brace under the car that stops many bracing parts that fit the coupe being installed, is there a definitive list anywhere of stuff that will fit? Or a list of parts that won't? Any info would be gratefully received. Ta!
  16. It's got big teeth and scaly skin, and is best mates with a croc. HTH
  17. Very sad to hear this, but it can't have been an easy decision to make so I can only wish everyone at ESR all the very best for the future.
  18. Bose skipping is another common issue, have a good read through all the FAQs here. I too came from a 2.0L turbo car and there is a big difference between the best way to use the engines, so I would imagine that's probably where you're finding issues. Only way to solve is to drive the car some more, so that's no hardship there
  19. When cold, yes. There's loads of posts on this forum about it, and it's perfectly normal. Given that the ratios of the 'box are very similar to just about every other performance car out there (1st gear 30mph, 2nd 60mph, 3rd 90mph etc give or take a few mph here or there), you shouldn't be finding yourself in a different gear at all, or certainly not that you'd notice. If you came from something like a small four-pot then it may just be the different feel that a larger capacity engine gives you, but that would be all.
  20. The Zed 'box can be a bit stiff when cold, does it happen to you all the time or just after you first start a journey? As for what gear you should be in, I'm not sure anyone can help you with that as that's what you learn on your driving lessons. You choose the gear appropriate for the conditions, to always stay in one regardless would be incredibly stupid.
  21. Track day as in you drive your car, or day on track driving something else?
