  1. I hate it! I liked his last album, but that song is just like any of the Euro dance crap that comes out every single year. Dull dull dull. I had the iPod on shuffle on the way home tonight, and with the roof down and the volume up Layla came on and sounded superb
  2. You need to be driving like a complete arse to do more than £1.7K worth of damage to your car though IMHO, so unless you are driving like that then you're never going to get the benefit of the insurance. And if you are driving like that, don't expect to stay on track for very long Tbh I'd quite like to see track insurance made mandatory, even if it's only for 3rd party cover. That's what you really want, as then as long as you're driving okay you've got nothing to worry about.
  3. Thought not. Never mind, plenty of other options out there.
  4. WD-40 is no good, you need proper penetrating oil like PlusGas or even Halfrauds own brand.
  5. Do they do rear discs as well, I've only ever been able to find them in the fronts?
  6. I'm going down on the Tuesday and won't be back in the UK until the following Saturday: A couple of of us leaving Le Mans on the Monday and heading down to Millau, and then coming back up and doing the Normandy beaches again. If you've never been to the landings, please try and go whilst you're over in France, as they are an absolute must-see place in your lifetime. Very sobering.
  7. Personally I wouldn't dream of going near the Ring unless I'd been on at least an airfield day first, to at least give you some idea of what it will be like in a far more controlled environment. A couple of trackdays would be a lot better, but I see that as the minimum. Bear in mind there is practically zero run-off on the Ring, and it might not necessarily be your fault if you hit the (very expensive) armco if some dipshit comes flying out of a corner and taps you... At least if you have some track experience you'll know roughly where you should be and how others will drive, and where you should be looking apart from the obvious answer of everywhere. That said, it's a proper experience and every driving enthusiast should do it once in their life.
  8. Amen to that, we'll have arrange a mini Zed meet on the circuit at some point.
  9. Alternatively, invest in some driver training as that'll have you going far quicker than any combination of mods would ever do.

    ESP

Check your tyre pressures, as that could easily cause the issues too. Also I'm presuming that all four are Bridgestone RE040s? 3mm difference between the rear tyres shouldn't cause that much trouble, not to the extent you're describing anyway.
  11. Full marks for not quibbling and just paying for the damage straight off, far too many parents absolve themselves of any blame when it comes to their kids too easily nowadays. You have my full respect
  12. What kind of tyres were you planning on fitting? Unless you're already running really grippy stuff like A048s/R888s then upgrading the width is a waste of time, as you could simply put a better tyre on whilst keeping the stock width, which would give you better grip without compromise.
  13. :bye: My second year on the trot this year, taking the missus as well for her first time so it should be interesting if nothing else! I should be doing my stickers in the next couple of weeks, just waiting for a few of them to arrive. Here's mine from last year, minus the big 24 logo stickers as I didn't get them until the day: Can't wait now, it's only 5 weeks today until I go!
  14. You're very right, it wasn't helping matters at all! Played with it a bit more this afternoon, turned Loudness off, Defeat on, and adjusted the bass and treble frequencies as well as the crossover point. Needs a good test at speed with the roof down, but so far I've got a far better quality sound without sacrificing volume at all. Thanks for the hint bud, really did make a huge difference.
  15. Yup, doesn't really make that much difference though. It seems to work more on the treble than the volume, which does distort the final quality somewhat.
  16. It's a bit iffy atm as I need to delve into the sound setup on the HU a bit more, as right now I've got loads of bass at low volume but it gets drowned out at high volume by the treble, just a minor issue that will sort itself out once I start fiddling. The sub isn't quite there yet as it was with the Bose in due to this (well, it's fine on some songs but not on others), but when it is right it's perfect and I have no doubt that a bit of fine tuning will give me everything I need. The sounds quality has improved greatly too, as you can really hear the subtleties of the music that got lost in the Bose.
  17. Fitted mine today, very nice piece of kit indeed! My install doesn't look quite as neat as yours though as the MY06 DIN adaptor forces the HU to sit a lot further back in the console, but it's not so bad that I can't live with it. Besides, I wanted it for what it could do rather than how it looked and the iPod control is flawless. Just for note as well, if connecting to Bose sub + speakers you DO NOT need a line booster, as the volume is well within normal limits. Might save someone else buying a line booster unnecessarily
  18. Fitted mine today, haven't had a chance to drive her yet but even just playing around in the driveway, it felt a hell of a lot easier to get my fat feet over to the accelerator. Quality mod, really glad I went for this now
  19. If you're considering a set of PSCs, then you might want to look at the R888s/A048s instead. All road legal track day tyres, and I'm willing to bet they're both a lot cheaper than the PSCs. PS2s should do all you need on the road unless you're particularly serious about track days, and if you are then you'd still be better off with the A048s (although you will need strengthened suspension parts to accommodate the extra load from the increased grip).
  20. Got mine today, many thanks to Tim and Adam for all their work in getting this sorted Lovely piece of kit btw, looking forward to fitting mine this weekend.

    Clutch

It's only a clutch, and DT have had enough experience with cars to know what they're doing regardless of make/model. £180 is a competitive price, I'd stick with them
  22. I've got a regular garage which is about as narrow as you'll ever find, and mine fits in if you park over to the left as much as you dare. The door will then open enough to let you out without too much of an issue, but don't forget to line the wall of the garage with carpet or something equally soft! I had more of an issue with the length of the car, as it's surprising just how long it actually is.
  23. There are no valves in the exhaust. It's a Nissan, not an Aston.
  24. But you obviously knew the plates were illegal anyway, right? Ah well, at least you tried and he went the decent way about it, as opposed to a talking-down by the side of the road. Fair play to him.
  25. It is true that a lightened flywheel will make more noise at idle than stock, but it does depend on how light you go. For example, the stock flywheel weighs 24lbs, so the RPS one at 18lbs isn't going to rattle anywhere near as much as the Fidanza one at 13.5lbs (all weights from here). Given the gains possible I feel it's worth doing if the clutch has got to come out anyway, and how long do you actually spend sitting at idle anyway? When moving the engine/exhaust/road noise will drown out any rattles, although you should be aware you'll have to give it a fraction more gas when pulling away to avoid stalling.
