Heh, never even thought of that! Cheers anyway mate, but I wouldn't put you out that much since I know they'll both go in mine in the front, just would rather put them elsewhere if poss. I have a feeling we'll all be coming different ways looking at where we all live...

Bedford trackday Got a couple of PS2s that need finishing off so am going to take them with me and swap over to my decent pair afterwards. I'd rather pop them in Bean's Zed if I can, but if not then they can travel with me. I'm just trying to be awkward as usual

Lolz what a gimp.

Strut brace is still there, it just forms part of the firewall between roof mechanism and boot. I've had a wheel behind the seat before and it was fine, had loads of room to pull the seat back to hold it in place. Didn't get a chance to try my amazing disappearing-wheel-in-boot trick tonight as it got dark too quickly, but it can go on my to-do list.

Toyos need at least 500 miles to get rid of the release agent, they plaster them in the stuff. All other tyres I've tried need about 300 miles-ish to get it all off.

Just a thought (and I'll have a play later), but I reckon if I take the spare out of the roadster's boot and all the extra crap that's in there then I can possibly fit one wheel down there and then pop another behind the pax seat... It's going to be tight in the boot, but the wheel won't have to sit flat in there so that's in my favour at least.

No chance, barely got a single naked Ray in the back!

Bugger, much as I suspected. Ah well, I'll have to wrap them up well and chuck them in the front seat of mine then, thanks for that guys.

Really quick question guys, but is it possible to fit 2x rear Rays with tyres in the empty boot of a Zed coupe? I'm hoping the answer is yes...

Fixed. ;)

Heh, I've got myself lined up for a curry too later! Cheers mate, sure it will be as I'll crawl there and tow the car behind me if I have to! -
Yes. Wait, Supra & Evos not being chav cars?! They're right up there with the Novas and Imprezas for sure. Truth is the price of the Zed has dropped to a level where idiots of questionable parentage can afford it an can afford to do what they want with it, it's happened with just about every Jap performance car ever made and it'll keep on happening as that's the way life is. It doesn't particularly bother me (and I'd never sell up just because of it) and there'll be something else along soon, but for now the Zed is pretty much where it's at for the time being and it'll only get worse until the market bottoms out, the car gets old enough that no-one wants it and only the real enthusiasts still keep it. Look at the mk1 MX-5 or mk1 MR2 for perfect examples, or even the mk3 Supra. ST205 isn't far off becoming a decent car again either.

I've been off work for the last week and a bit with flu, then a cold, then back to the flu again now. Feel really weak and tired, not good. In all honesty I'd rather be at work and feeling well than off work and feeling like this. I'm out of Tamiflu now as well, time to hit the Baileys I think! -
There's no passion there though. Sure, she can hold a tune, but she's only mimicking what others are showing her. She'd make a cracking parrot.

Nikon or Canon all the way. The Sony's are okay but really do suffer in terms of quality (both build and sensor) over the big two, and I wouldn't consider anything else at all. I bought my first DSLR this year and went for the D90 and I don't regret the purchase at all. I too was looking at the lower end of the scale for bodies originally until I was shown the differences by a friend of mine who's seriously into his photography, and that's what convinced me that spending more really would be worth it in the long run. Even the kit lens you get with the D90 is a really decent one, and I've only had to splash out on a 70-300mm lens to use for motorsport photography. It's not a cheap bit of kit (available here for £779) but it is still the best lower mid-level body out there.

Yeah, no chance for that price. BS until proof kthxbye.

Help who, me or you? I'm fine ta, but thanks for the link anyway. Tbh fella there's more than enough info in this thread for you to make a decision. I mean there's helping a fellow owner out and then there's just spoon feeding...!

No, but really everyone should have a backup hard disk somewhere on their setup, memory is p*ss-cheap these days. If you do a clean install (as opposed to an upgrade) Win7 is still nice enough to leave all your old files in one big file called windows.old after the install. That way you can hop in, dig out all your pr0n and put it wherever you want to on your Win7 install. I certainly didn't expect it to do that so I did do a major backup before the install (and tbh it's what everyone should do just in case) but it was a nice surprise to find regardless.

I would do the brake fluid annually and then an oil change every 6K miles if you're doing an average of about 4 trackdays a year plus 10K road miles. Certainly that's what I do but with fewer road miles.

Fantastic article, good find Ian

I can see it from both points tbh. Yes, of course people should be allowed and positively encouraged to try something different on their cars, but they should also be strong enough of conviction to carry it through if they're keen enough about it. On the other hand, there's things that just really shouldn't be done because otherwise your car will end up either a) ugly as sin or dangerous as hell. This 'mod' falls straight into the latter category, hence the strong reaction. I tend not to keep my opinions to myself (some may have noticed ) but that's the beauty of an open forum: Everyone is allowed to express their opinion within the rules. We're all grown adults and should be able to take criticism with or without the pinch of salt, and because the interweb is such a free and wonderful place then if we still don't like what we're hearing then we're all free to naff off somewhere else. If you don't want opinions over a mod, then don't post up about it! My styles and tastes are very conservative (Le Mans stickering notwithstanding) and performance based hence I find most of the cosmetic mods here really quite distasteful, but that's just my opinion. I know a great many more people would shoot me down for running a car on Rays that's not got the spacers on or isn't even lowered, and again I'd be happy to listen to them before completely dismissing them out of hand. The point I'm trying to make here is that this is a fantastic board, not only as a place of knowledge but also as a place of social chat. The Zed is old enough now that people have seen it all and done it all, and if it's not been done there's a very good reason for it. Show cage sits right up there with tinted film on your front and rear lights as something that may look good when the car is on show, but is dangerous for use on the road. The inhabitants of this forum have simply called the idea out as such, and should be commended for that not lambasted.

Not Thor. Despite their rep with the MR2 boys, previous experience (and current ones with mates) means that I'd never send anyone there if they can help it.

You don't have to be an opera singer to know that Jedward can't sing, if you see what I mean
-
I don't care if you can sing a bit love, you're bloody fugly and hurting my eyes so be a good lass and naff off so I can perv over the Minogue, ta

Having a show cage in the car when driving on the road is the equivalent of wanking with a noose round your neck: You may think it's really cool and just good fun, but one slight mistake and you're dead. Regardless of the opinion of taste, it's dangerous to have such a thing in a moving car and people should be rightly called out on it. Ugly bodykits are one thing, safety is a completely different matter IMHO.
