  1. They will, can guarantee it. Get some protection on the wheels while they're nice and new, I can highly recommend FK1000 sealant as good stuff.
  2. Wimp Personally I love this time of year as it means you can get the car to slide in a far slower and more controlled way than when it's bone dry. There's nothing better than a countryside blast with the roof down and the sun shining when it's still -13 outside.
  3. And just to add to the pimping, I've got a set of OEM 18" wheels (no tyres) you can have for £150. Loads of choices now!
  4. If it's fine now then you got lucky and I wouldn't worry any more about it. Personally I'd never have an intake that low to the ground as for the sake of maybe 1bhp (if you're lucky) is it really worth the extra aggro and worry? Different if you live somewhere baking hot where it never rains though, I guess.
  5. See, I like car forums, and I also like social networking sites, but which is better? There's only one way to find out...
  6. tell you what mate *** **** *** **** *** i don't pretend to be a dog, most people play on the title and avatar. its all good banter so i play along. I'm sorry if you missed the sense of humour classes at school. You hardly discourage it, do you? And anyway, like I said I guess that's my loss and if it keeps you happy then that's all that matters. Love the asterisks by the way, classy. If you want to say how you really feel then you know where the PM button is, and I promise not to repeat anything you say to the powers that be. Genuine offer, up to you whether you take it or not.
  7. @BM: Honest opinion? I couldn't care less either way. You've done nothing to insult me personally and even if you had I'm either adult enough to laugh it off or I'll give such a shedload of well-constructed abuse crafted in verse in return that you'd wish you hadn't. Life's too short to get upset over what people may or may not think about you. I'm sure I've upset more than a few people on here with some of my posts, but then I really couldn't care less as I've my own set of rules that I apply to whatever I post on any forum. I try to be honest with people, and that's that for me. Sometimes I'm so far behind the line I need a frickin' halo, other times I'm looked at the same way Gary Glitter would be if he walked past a school armed with a bag of sweeties. BM, if you really care that much about what people are thinking of you then it's time to take a break from posting for a bit. Quite honestly I like the occasional bit of blunt posting on the interweb as it breaks the monotony and helps clear the air, but I can see why some may start getting fed up (especially the mods, having been in that position before).
  8. I think you're both way over the top personally. Mark's comment in the pants thread really wasn't that offensive, but then it wasn't funny either. Rich, you're in danger of coming across as holier than thou and a tad sanctimonious, which isn't helping matters. In all fairness I've tended to avoid any thread which revolves around faux-gayness or pretending to be a dog as they're really quite childish and playground humour stuff which has a time and a place, and that time passed about 0.2 seconds after the original comment. That said, it's a free interweb and people are allowed to say what they want (up to a point), so that's my loss I guess. Neither of you would be half as bolshy as you are on this thread in real life, so just take it all with a pinch of salt and move on.
  9. I bet the turbo guys win because of the lower emissions
  10. There's been quite a few very positive road tests in the US media, that's what got me curious about them.
  11. Nope, that Hyundai is a very good looking car in the flesh, and has far more presence than the 370 IMHO. Saw a few on the roads when I was out in the US earlier in the year, just a shame they're not bringing it over here as the V6 model is a genuinely decent car.
  12. I wouldn't drive it like that for any length of distance either until fixed, as you've got a leak post-MAF which is very bad for the engine. Good luck with it though, nothing more satisfying than fixing something yourself.
  13. Different cars react differently to tyre changes/temps/pressures.
  14. Yup, that'll do it. Difference in tyre compound front and rear (especially in these changeable conditions) will lead to the temps not being equal and give you dodgy handling. Change the fronts for Falkens ASAP before something nasty happens.
  15. Always through a grill. Doing it the other way is like running down the street with your willy hanging out: It may look impressive at first, but sooner or later something is going to come along and whack it so hard that it's going to do some serious damage.
  16. Each to their own of course, but this really isn't the first time this has ever happened (not just by Thor) and it's a shame to see it continuing.
  17. It's always nice when a well-known tuning shop signs up specifically to start internet fights. They see it as defending their work, everyone else sees it as childish tit for tat. I suspect the truth sits somewhere in-between as it usually does.

    Trackday tyres

Depends on what compound you're using though on the A048, but for the most part that's true. I found that the M or LTS spec don't hold up so well, but the MH ones were much better.
  19. Right folks, the experiment is over and the results are in! First off, a rear Ray with a 245/45 tyre on really won't fit into a roadster boot: However, if you remove the space saver then there's loads of room! That done, I moved onto trying to get one into the front as well. It's a smaller space than I remembered, however... Ta daa! The wheel is wedged between seat and rear bin, and there's no way in hell that it's going to move during normal road driving (I wouldn't take my chances on a fast country road drive without strapping it in properly though, but for a boring schlep up to Bedford it'll be fine). So there you go: It's very possible to get two rear wheels + tyres into a roadster, you just need to be creative.

    Trackday tyres

R888s don't come in the correct sizes sadly, but they're close enough and you'd have the ESP turned off on track anyway Either those or A048s if they even make them in that size.
  21. Could do, but I've got nitrogen in the tyres and don't really want to lose that and have to fill with normal air when at the track.
  22. I'll give it a go tomorrow and take pics of the attempt, if nothing else should be good for a giggle
