  1. I bet the turbo guys win because of the lower emissions
  2. There's been quite a few very positive road tests in the US media, that's what got me curious about them.
  3. Nope, that Hyundai is a very good looking car in the flesh, and has far more presence than the 370 IMHO. Saw a few on the roads when I was out in the US earlier in the year, just a shame they're not bringing it over here as the V6 model is a genuinely decent car.
  4. I wouldn't drive it like that for any length of distance either until fixed, as you've got a leak post-MAF which is very bad for the engine. Good luck with it though, nothing more satisfying than fixing something yourself.
  5. Different cars react differently to tyre changes/temps/pressures.
  6. Yup, that'll do it. Difference in tyre compound front and rear (especially in these changeable conditions) will lead to the temps not being equal and give you dodgy handling. Change the fronts for Falkens ASAP before something nasty happens.
  7. Always through a grill. Doing it the other way is like running down the street with your willy hanging out: It may look impressive at first, but sooner or later something is going to come along and whack it so hard that it's going to do some serious damage.
  8. Each to their own of course, but this really isn't the first time this has ever happened (not just by Thor) and it's a shame to see it continuing.
  9. It's always nice when a well-known tuning shop signs up specifically to start internet fights. They see it as defending their work, everyone else sees it as childish tit for tat. I suspect the truth sits somewhere in-between as it usually does.

    Trackday tyres

Depends on what compound you're using though on the A048, but for the most part that's true. I found that the M or LTS spec don't hold up so well, but the MH ones were much better.
  11. Right folks, the experiment is over and the results are in! First off, a rear Ray with a 245/45 tyre on really won't fit into a roadster boot: However, if you remove the space saver then there's loads of room! That done, I moved onto trying to get one into the front as well. It's a smaller space than I remembered, however... Ta daa! The wheel is wedged between seat and rear bin, and there's no way in hell that it's going to move during normal road driving (I wouldn't take my chances on a fast country road drive without strapping it in properly though, but for a boring schlep up to Bedford it'll be fine). So there you go: It's very possible to get two rear wheels + tyres into a roadster, you just need to be creative.

    Trackday tyres

R888s don't come in the correct sizes sadly, but they're close enough and you'd have the ESP turned off on track anyway Either those or A048s if they even make them in that size.
  13. Could do, but I've got nitrogen in the tyres and don't really want to lose that and have to fill with normal air when at the track.
  14. I'll give it a go tomorrow and take pics of the attempt, if nothing else should be good for a giggle
  15. Heh, never even thought of that! Cheers anyway mate, but I wouldn't put you out that much since I know they'll both go in mine in the front, just would rather put them elsewhere if poss. I have a feeling we'll all be coming different ways looking at where we all live...
  16. Bedford trackday Got a couple of PS2s that need finishing off so am going to take them with me and swap over to my decent pair afterwards. I'd rather pop them in Bean's Zed if I can, but if not then they can travel with me. I'm just trying to be awkward as usual
  17. Strut brace is still there, it just forms part of the firewall between roof mechanism and boot. I've had a wheel behind the seat before and it was fine, had loads of room to pull the seat back to hold it in place. Didn't get a chance to try my amazing disappearing-wheel-in-boot trick tonight as it got dark too quickly, but it can go on my to-do list.

    Tyre bed in methods

Toyos need at least 500 miles to get rid of the release agent, they plaster them in the stuff. All other tyres I've tried need about 300 miles-ish to get it all off.
  19. Just a thought (and I'll have a play later), but I reckon if I take the spare out of the roadster's boot and all the extra crap that's in there then I can possibly fit one wheel down there and then pop another behind the pax seat... It's going to be tight in the boot, but the wheel won't have to sit flat in there so that's in my favour at least.
  20. No chance, barely got a single naked Ray in the back!
  21. Bugger, much as I suspected. Ah well, I'll have to wrap them up well and chuck them in the front seat of mine then, thanks for that guys.
