  1. Just buy a set of anything then, like I suggested above. Or put the costs of a full set of RE050As onto a credit card.
  2. Nope. No other way to connect an MP3 player properly than to swap the head unit over really (forget the crappy tape and FM adaptors if you want anything approaching decent sound), and tbh you'll be glad you did as just about anything is better than the stock Bose.
  3. Straight away? No. When you encounter something bad (other car, wet road surface, changing road temperature between surfaces) and need the car to do exactly as it's told? Yes, and not in the good way. Tyres are a really bad place to start saving money on as they're the only thing in contact with the road. Chuck the money on a credit card if you must, but please don't run odd tyres on the car.
  4. Get a set of four T1-Rs/452s if that's the case. Hell, even a set of ditchfinders would be better than mismatched tyres.
  5. RE050s are completely different to the RE040s and shouldn't be mixed together. Either stick with 40s or (much preferably) go for 50s all round.
  6. You can do a very bodged version by using FF and ABP, and then you simply block the individual smileys you don't want.
  7. As long as you don't damage it in any way, yes. Otherwise it's criminal damage, loads on PH and Pepipoo on this.
  8. Considering you have absolutely no idea about me, that's quite a judgement to make. Funnily enough though I don't ever speed in this country and haven't done for the last 5 years, and that includes motorways and country roads. I will accelerate up to the limit ASAP, but I never speed as there is simply no need or point to: That's what trackdays are for. Of course I have the potential to break the law, but seeing as every other human being on the planet does too I'm struggling to see your point on that one. Your plate doesn't hurt anyone, but it is illegal and throwing a stroppy huff won't change that.
  9. What, people who actually obey the law, don't give back chat to BiB when they're in the wrong and don't happen to share your viewpoint? Yeah, I can totally see your point there.
  10. Yes, it's the RE050A that people fit to the Zed.
  11. Everything you describe sounds perfectly normal to me, just a case of TADTS. Nothing to worry about
  12. Nope, I fitted my own turbo kit a few years ago and Thor were happy to tune it then. Obviously a change of personnel has resulted in a change of policy there, which is a shame.
  13. There's confidence in your own tuning abilities then... Glad it's 99% there now mate, I've been following this thread for ages and it's been a proper absorbing read as well as an eye-opener as to the effort involved in something like this. Reminds me why I don't do FI conversions on my cars anymore!
  14. Sorry, but I doubt you were pulled for doing nothing at all and for doing 60mph on the motorway (why weren't you doing 70mph?). There's got to be more to it than that, as even the police have better things to do than to stop people for no reason.
  15. You've got an illegal numberplate and you're wondering why you got pulled? I agree that the attitude of the BiB might not have been entirely on the money, but tbh you did yourself no favours by acting gobby to him. If you didn't get any paperwork then it's likely he was checking the car and you for something more dodgy than just an illegal plate, and didn't want to take it any further. Consider it a lesson learnt, get yourself a proper plate and don't act like you know best when you next get pulled.
  16. Definitely a revup, and even though it's an import I'd say that's still well-priced.
  17. Not any more they don't, as it Tesco have stopped doing it They also specifically excluded the 911 from the warranty too.
  18. An engine transplant would also be arguably more reliable than an FI setup as there's less bits to go wrong, especially with the LS swaps as all the electrics (the main change) are pretty much done for you. Comparing it with a TT setup really is missing the point as you've got completely different power deliveries, and in that sense it's far closer to an SC kit although with less moving bits and a better noise (IMHO). Given the relative cost of doing all conversions is more or less equal, the only major downside to the LS swap over the other two is that it's a hell of a lot more ballache to go back to stock when it's time to sell. You could sell the car as is of course, but you can write off most of your invested capital if that's the case unless you get the right buyer.
  19. The 3L turboed lump in the Z4 has masses of torque, so I wouldn't be too quick to dismiss it if I were you. Given that Nismo of late (with regard to the road cars at least) have become a sanitised version of what they used to be, a few extra ponies and some above average suspension bits really won't make that much difference in the grand scheme of things, although they will make for a better connection between driver and car. Having just seen that video again, check out the arms of the driver in the Cayman: They're all over the place towards the end of the video. I'm not saying that he can't drive for peanuts as he may well simply have gotten bored by that point, but that's not what I'd expect of a top (or even average) driver. The more I look at that video, the more I'm convinced that it was staged for shock value so that people would watch it.
  20. Exactly Chris, those TG laps count for absolutely nothing. May as well toss a coin to see which is quicker
  21. Different drivers takes any realistic comparison right out of that comparison, especially as they're racing. That said, I'd still expect the Zed to finish last out of that lot (or maybe close to the Z4) anyway as the Porkers are by a fair way the better cars. Then again, you'd hope so too being more expensive.
  22. How is more power and waaaaaaay more torque from an NA lump with a ridiculous amount of tuning potential with very similar rev ranges as stock 'ruining' the car? Those LS engines are far better than the VQ35DE as far as performance goes.
  23. Could well be a grounding issue, check all your connections
  24. Cheers Rich, will check it out.
