    Tyre width

Tbh I wouldn't expect an issue with running tyres that little out of spec anyway: Certainly dropping to 40 profile with the R888s has made no difference to the TCS that I can tell so far.

    Tyre width

No it won't, it'll be 2.4% smaller. Profile is a percentage of the width, don't forget.
  3. Ah, I see. You're completely wrong of course, but there you go.
  4. If you're in the market for a Panamera you're hardly likely to be considering a Boxster I saw my first one in the flesh last week, and actually they're nowhere near as bad looking in the flesh as they are in pictures. Shame that the one pictured here has such vile wheels on.
  5. Sure you're not mistaking torque steer for feel? An FR car can feel a bit numb at first when coming from a car that drives the front wheels.
  6. Welcome along! Nether a 350 nor (especially!) a 370 is an investment. You'll lose buckets on the 370, and 350 prices aren't static yet either. Buying a fun sports car shouldn't be something done with the head, it should be done with the heart, go with whatever your instinct tells you to

    Spongey brakes

You really shouldn't mix brake fluids at all, especially when changing brands. I personally use the Endless fluid, which although expensive is by far the best stuff I've ever used (they use identical stuff in some of the F1 cars, that's how good it is!), however for general road use and assuming you don't track it too hard then the Motul RBF600 is what I'd use.

    Spongey brakes

Yup, that'll be why. Don't worry, I can assure you the Zed has better brakes, it's all down to the different feel. Do change the fluid and lines though.

    Spongey brakes

Better in what way? I bet they were a lot sharper, but you had less feel and almost certainly far easier to fade (not that you'd actually be able to try that!). Non-performance cars will often have (designed) sharper brakes so you think they're better, but really you'll actually be better off with more progressive brakes. That said, always a good idea to change your brake fluid once a year and pop some braided brakelines on there as well.
  10. Have you broken them in yet?
  11. It's called fronting and is both fraudulant and stupid to do. If you can't afford to insure a car properly, buy a cheaper/crappier car.
  12. Nope, T1-Rs are crap with light cars too: i've tracked in both an mr2 mk3 and a VXR220 and melted them on both. Toyos are great for those terrified of a bit of water as that's their strong point, but they're not a serious performance tyre at all IMHO. I've yet to try the R1-R, but after reports from other users I feel they will quickly become the ultimate fast road and track tyre: sane compound as R888 but with more tread to dispel standing water.
  13. That's beautiful If it looks as good on the front of the car as I suspect it will, I'll definitely have to have one. Much better than the faded plastic badge on there atm anyway.
  14. Even better, those guys are pretty much the only people I'd consider buying a 911 from. That is utterly stunning
  15. 996.1? You have to buy that if you can! It'll wee all over every other car on your list in terms of performance and fun, and will hold its value much better too.
  16. I wouldn't call £360/£540 (996) or £460/£610 (Cayman) ridiculous tbh. My personal choice would be a Cayman S or M3 CS, or the Vette if you fancy something really different.
  17. Mustang or Corvette would be on my list as well.
  18. P2-spec bare minimum I think. How on earth did you let it go 2 years without a service?!

    Vinyl Costs

Front looks good, don't like the spoiler though.
  20. 40 can throw the TCS systems out, don't run those unless you're happy to run the Zed with them turned off all the time. Just get the correct size tyres in the first place, save yourself any hassle And you do know that the wheels are the worst place to add weight don't you, will definitely make your car slower
  21. I'll be going as well, 3rd year on the trot now. As for the Gendarmes ignoring the French drivers, they don't. They'll get anyone regardless of plate, it just seems like they get the French less because they're not stupid enough to speed during LM week. I got done for 750EU + instant driving ban for being an idiot on Mad Friday last year, despite knowing better and not speeding at all any other time. I'll be getting there on Wednesday as I want to see free practice as well as qualifying, and the pit walk is a must do too. I'm just hoping for slightly better weather than last year, it was horrendous on the way there and back!
  22. Should be 225/45/18 on the front and 245/45/18 on the rear I think. Can't see any reason why the GT4 wheels would be any different from the Rays.
  23. I very much doubt that's the whole story, or that any of the German brands would have a cheaper hourly labour rate than Nissan. Tbh (and this isn't directed in particular at the guy I've quoted) I can't help but wonder if people are complaining in the wrong way. Everyone makes mistakes, even car manufacturers, and of course it's how they deal with those mistakes afterwards that's important. Some cars are just naturally Friday-afternoon-assembled-by-the-work-experience-boy specials, that's life sadly, and some brands suffer more than others (just ask the Lotus and TVR owners!). I've had cause to complain on occasion with both the Zed and a couple of previous cars (strangely enough not the VXR220 though) and every time I put forth my case in a straight forward and polite manner, never raising my voice nor using naughty language either in person or in writing. Every time I've had to do this I've been treated with respect and courtesy, and all issues were solved to my satisfaction. Maybe I've been exceedingly lucky and got dealerships who really wanted to help, or maybe it's because I've been polite about things I've managed to get my issues resolved. I'm not saying that anyone in this thread hasn't been the same way, I'm just merely making an observation.
  24. From that review: Yup, that's exactly how I felt about them. There's not much more grip there than something like the T1Rs, but there is sooooo much more feedback you can go that little bit quicker.
