  1. How so Mike? Mate of mine runs them on his VXR220 with AP slotted discs and they're brilliant, certainly AP didn't mention anything about not running certain pads when he spoke to them.
  2. One day I will own one in yellow. Absolutely beautiful cars, mad as a box of frogs and I'd love to have one more than anything. Hell, I'd swap the Zed tomorrow for the right one.
  3. Red stuff = OEM spec, Yellow = better than OEM. Dust is similar on both. Basically buy the Yellows
  4. Yeah, I'm going to call BS on that one too. Who on earth gave you that nugget?
  5. 10/10 for wanting to do something fun, but you're miles out of your depth here I'm afraid. Forget any notion of competing professionally at drifting for now, and just go and see if you actually enjoy it first. As has been said, it's a ridiculously expensive hobby but if you just see it as a hobby then you'll enjoy yourself more. Go into it with ideas of grandeur and you'll probably get frustrated if you don't turn out to be the greatest undiscovered drift king in the world. Really don't mean to **** on your parade, and I genuinely hope you do succeed, but I just want you to be aware of what you're aiming for.
  6. Douglas Valley you say? *spits* Horrible, rip off people. Glad it's all sorted though.
  7. Assuming Brembo fit, I'm using the Performance Friction front discs with matching PF pads all round. Not cheap, but I don't think you'll find a better setup without going down the line of BBKs and such. I also use Endless brake fluid and Goodridge lines and it's a fine setup for track work.
  8. Sounds cheap and nasty. Detailer isn't exactly expensive, why risk it over a couple of quid?
  9. I'd have called the police. If you're in the right in that situation then you call the police.
  10. If it is the trader we all think then I've been there myself and wasn't entirely impressed so I can understand the resentment here for sure, I just don't feel comfortable posting up names and black marking companies when they have no right of reply. If the story is true then that's terrible, but at the same time I could pick a million holes in what little has already been posted.
  11. You've only got one side of the story there chaps, so I wouldn't go announcing names without proof. If the guy in question wants to come over and share his tale then that's one thing, but to print hearsay and Chinese whispers isn't a good thing.

    Oil change

You absolutely must change it unless you want oil everywhere apart from in your engine, and they're about 50p from Nissan themselves so just find your local one and pop in.
  13. That's actually a pretty good analogy, I think I may pinch that one
  14. Or Armourfend, have seen that stuff used in cars in the past and it works very well. Really you want to have flawless paint before you put it on though, and then on older cars you're looking at the cost of a front end respray PLUS the cost of the film itself. That cost is the one thing putting me off getting mine done, although if I were buying brand new I'd build the cost of it into the cost of the car.
  15. That's one's been going for months, along with him getting a 16 year old pregnant and his missus knobbing Kris Commons. It's all interweb rumour and has no truth at all.
  16. Fuel is easy to calculate, as is insurance and tax (as you've already done). The bigger costs over the ST will be things like tyres (£500 a set), brakes, clutches and any other consumables really. There's also the fact that the essentials cost a lot more: If you grenade the engine or 'box on a Fiesta ST it's not going to cost you as much to replace as on a 350Z... That's very worst case scenario though, and is incredibly rare on this car. Always worth keeping in mind though.
  17. That'll have been me then... *runs and hides in shame* I blame the heat. And drink. And anything else that makes me look a little less clumsy! Sorry mate, honest mistake there on my part.
  18. Depends if you like going round corners or not. Mondeo ST TDCi is a good call.
  19. Some engines will also (for whatever reason) prefer different fuels, so what works for one may not work for another. Y'know, just to really complicate matters!
  20. +1 on everything that Chris said
  21. This is NOT a rear diffuser, it's a vortex generator. It goes on the roof of a coupe and not on the rear bumper between the exhaust outlets like a diffuser does.
  22. Lucky you, Magnatec is the single worst oil I can think of to put in any car, much less a performance one. Do yourselves a favour and don't scrimp on your oil, it's not worth it.

    350Z vs Z4

The key question is which Z4? The Zed (our one!) will be miles better than a 2.0L, but it'll feel lardy compared with a Z4M
  24. How old is the guy? Tbh after a dangerous driving conviction no sensible insurance company is going to want to touch him in a performance car (and rightly so IMHO) so he's going to have to suck it up and drive something rubbish for a few years. Best place to look for insurers for convicted drivers is in the back of Max Power and the likes. Usually tons of ads in there, I've got no idea if they're any good or not as I'm a wonderful driver with no current convictions on my licence
  25. Generic brake fluid then. Not that that is no good for the car as it's perfectly acceptable, but for the minor extra cost I'd put the RBF600 in as you'll kill that fluid very quickly on track which takes a lot of the point of getting decent brakes away.
