  1. What did you do with the existing indicators?
  2. But he has had to do courses that cost money to be able to put him into a position where he can sign something off, hence the monetary cost of the training/knowledge has to be considered. There's other paperwork involved as well, such as invoicing, filing, receipting etc. What I'm trying to say is that they have to charge to cover themselves from a financial POV, and their minimum charge is £45 which means they don't lose on other jobs that take 62mins to complete all-in. Look at it from a business view, not just a alwight-geezer-back-hander-in-yer-pocket-yeah-diamond-mate one.
  3. I think that's why I like them, as the Zed is a very simple shape that doesn't need fussy wheels on it. It's why the Rays work so well.
  4. I think the last cassette I ever bought myself was "Moseley Shoals" by OCS. Only got it on tape so I could play it on my Walkman as I didn't have a portable CD player at the time!
  5. Funny, it's now halved in time: It was two minutes earlier... It's not going to be a minute though, is it? You've got the time of the phonecall, the time spent doing the paperwork (both for you and for them), time spent doing the actual task, not to mention paying for the knowledge of someone else. Bear in mind this is also a main dealer and not a back street garage and it seems fair enough to me. They have to work to the guidelines they've been given, you can't blame them for that. If I go out and do a job for someone that takes 30 min, I have to charge for two hours labour as that's our minimum call out time/fee. They are a business, after all.
  6. Like most companies, Nissan will have a minimum charge time regardless of how small the job is, it's how you make up the time when bigger jobs overrun. £45 sounds like one hours labour to me (actually sounds a bit cheap for an hour, but that might be because you're up north) and sounds perfectly reasonable to me.
  7. Awful news, I wish you all the best in the coming months Get rid of the car. No point having it if you can't drive it, and the money you save could go towards either a better car or an amazing holiday. As much as I love cars, I'd bin mine in a heartbeat if I could something better with the money.
  8. I'm not sure I see the problem? £16K for an '07 with full dealer warranty seems quite a good buy to me... Did you buy the car from a Nissan place? Either way, they're not charging an outrageous amount for it so why the hatred for them? They need to make a profit as much as the next company.
  9. Not really, I'm still waiting for the Peugeot man's contact details so I can speak to him regarding putting mixed tyres on a 206CC
  10. Great post Rich, thanks for sharing I'm going to edit the title too, hope you don't mind.
  11. Tell your mate to grow a pair and see it through. What kind of example does he want to set for his kids, that you can do whatever you want as long as you're prepared to be violent? Yeah, great example. He'll be looking over his shoulder regardless of what happens now, so he might as well do the right thing.
  12. Either get a plate that spells something properly (AA04 ZED), something that clearly doesn't but means something to you (David Robert Winkleman could get T6 DRW for example), or don't bother. All badly altered plates with spacing and screws or misrepresented numbers/letters look awful IMHO. *dons asbestos jacket*
  13. Better in terms of grip? No. Better balanced? Yes. Happy now? So at least half of of the population are idiots then, and deserve to write their cars off. Great attitude. Not sure if you deliberately ignored the word "knowingly" in my post, but hey, whatever floats your boat. I've given so much advice on this recently, and if people still want to believe in magic tyre fairies then that's their own stupidity: Let Darwin deal with them.
  14. Don't forget that a car is designed to perform at it's best when it has four tyres of a specific type on, and all four of equal tread depth. Actually, I'm almost boring myself with all this sh*t now. So many people out there appear to think that the laws of physics don't apply to them, and I doubt that even the most rational response will change their minds. It's like arguing Darwin with a Jehovah's Witness: Even if you've got all the facts to back you up, the other person is still going to believe in magical fairies. I'll just say that anyone who knowingly puts mismatched tyres on their car of any kind is a complete idiot and deserves to end up in a hedge backwards.
  15. Both to blame IMHO. Yes, the 370Z clearly outbraked himself, but the Corsa should have been aware of where he was and not looking blindly into the distance. Had he done so and lifted slightly, the Zed would've carried on into the grass and the Corsa would've had a straight bit of road to play with. Easier said than done when looking back rather than in the middle of a red-mist battle mid-race though.
  16. That point applies equally to an FR car like the Zed, so if a car had the same size tyres all round by OEM design, would you always put the new tyres on the rear?
  17. What shape? Well, they're kinda brake-pad shaped really...

    Flywheel

Normally the flywheel only wears because the clutch is on it's own way out, which causes the damage to the flywheel (this is why many end up replacing them both at the same time). If that's the case here, then you may well have a problem proving your case sadly.
  19. I don't doubt it would be fun, but it wouldn't see which way an RS went on track. Pound for pound, the RS would be more practical as a track toy than the Atom.
  20. You have to remember tesco's is one of their sponsers. And that TMS have one of the most over-enthusiastic dynos anywhere in the country. Their reputation on the VX board is legendary, as is John's explanations at times (NA cars being strapped down too tight was a classic!).
  21. I thought that was hilarious Me too, and even better when the woman is being comforted on the floor and then all the furniture comes flying back and takes them both out
