Sounds like he went back to the station and ranted to his mates about you, who then pointed out that he was in the wrong so he didn't enter the ticket in the system. That's a guess though. Either way, nice one

As far as the transmission whine goes, that's normal in a car of that year. My brother's HR car makes significantly more noise in that area than my DE one does.

Slave and/or master cylinder I'd say. Roughly £90 each from your local Nissan dealer + few hours labour to fit (bleeding the clutch fluid is what takes the most time). Worth contacting Zmanalex about the parts too

Is the top edge of the vent not supposed to be parallel with the top edge of the bumper, or is it just the light misleading in those photos? Looks like the top-right corner is closer to the bumper edge than the top-left IYSWIM.
