  1. My revup used to use about half a litre between services, mixture of fast road and track use. Current car uses substantially more but that's a different story... Certainly the engine in my old Zed never used anything that I wasn't expecting, very reliable lump
  2. Go and see Dixon down at DMS (He's a trader on here), he'll see you right
  3. Conclusion: Back doors. Smashed In. Job's a carrot.
  4. From just looking at the video still, I suspect I'd let her have control of whatever she wanted Will now watch the video and see if I still feel the same...
  5. Looks great if you're Mr Kellog or Mrs Bran-Flakes I guess.
  6. Edited for terrible spelling! That's my brother making his first post on the forum, so if anyone has got a post-facelift bumper knocking around or knows of a decent place to get one then please shout up.
  7. If running costs aren't an issue then I'd be buying an Impreza STi of some kind, but then I might be a bit biased as we've just just bought one ourselves! Really characterful car though, bags of oomph and hugely practical. Tad thirsty though... If you really want to go back to fail wheel drive, then it would have to be the Megane for me. Best drive, even if it's got a slightly naff interior.
  8. The list of what is needed is in the service book IIRC. Unless my brain's going mad anyway, been a while since I read one I must admit
  9. That's not what the Loud or Loudness setting is for (and I'm only saying this because I only just learnt it the other day!). It's actually for when you want to listen to music at a low volume but still want the clarity, so it boosts both the top and bottom end and you end up with a slightly punchier sound at low volume. You then need to turn it off when you crank it up else you'll have waaaaay too much bass and treble.
  10. Probably needs an in-line volume booster-thing, a common necessity with aftermarket head units on the Bose setup. That said, I didn't need one for the Alpine unit I put in mine, so it very much depends.
  11. All Zeds already have coilovers at the front and unless you're planning on converting the rears they'll always have coilovers only on the front. The difference is between OEM and aftermarket, not non-coilovers and coilovers. /pet hate
  12. 2008 and on C2 manual is 1415kg DIN, Cayman manual is 1330kg DIN. S models are about 20kg more, and then another 30kg if you go PDK. Not to mention the extra weight all the options make: The adaptive sports seats (which I've got) weigh about the same as a teenager each! Trust me, these cars are not going to be far off the weight of a Zed when they come to the market. The Zeds could've been a lot lighter, but then they would've cost a lot more. They might've been able to knock 100kgs off the weight at the cost of another £10K on RRP, and I know which I'd prefer.
  13. Looks f***ing s**t and will be driven by w***y c***s.
  14. Probably worth pointing out here for all of us that do have cherished plates that, in the case of a write-off or stolen and not recovered, the insurance company become the owners of the plate and you do not have an automatic right to getting it back. So before you take the payout, make sure that you've either got the value of the plate included in it OR you get the insurer to transfer the plate back to you. You stand to lose the plate possibly forever if you don't do this. Might not be an issue if you've got a cheap plate you don't care about, but it very well might be if it's worth a few quid or has sentimental value.
  15. You still speaketh the truth on that point fella.
  16. Good luck if you want to take the risk. I don't think I would. If you chucked a Kwik Fit pair of brake pads on your Mondeo an insurer wouldn't bat an eyelid, if you put a set of Yellowstuffs onto your Zed they'd have a field day. It's not fair, but to state otherwise is daft IMHO.
  17. Aside from the wheels, that's actually not too bad really. Overpriced by about £3K, but I've definitely seen worse.
  18. If that's true, then you're really not trying hard enough Falkens aren't the grippiest of tyres in any condition, and with 300bhp to play with you should be lighting them up at will.
  19. Really, I thought you learnt it the roundabout way OH YES I DID GO THERE
  20. If it were me and my money, and I was putting money towards the only thing that stops all the crap and dirt getting into the single most expensive item on the car, I'd be buying the best full-stop, and especially if we're only talking about a £20 difference. You'd have to be bonkers to risk anything less IMHO.
  21. Heh, I like those. They're not trying to be serious unlike the ridiculous eyebrow stick-on tat, and that makes them okay

    New M5....

I think it's a clear intention of departure from the M division into making great road cars rather than great road cars that work brilliantly on track. Something with a big lumpy delivery is exactly what you want on the boring roads, which is why diesels make great motorway cruisers, but that makes fast road driving a bit of a chore. I very much doubt that it'll be a boring car, as something with 500bhp+ isn't ever going to be boring, but it certainly doesn't look like it'll excite the way M cars used to. See also: 1M.

    New M5....

It's got 90lb/ft less than the E63... That's a significant amount of shove lost IMHO, and possibly why for the first time ever I'd have the Merc over the BMW. Just looking at the power curve, it's all over before 6K revs! What is it, a diesel?!
  24. What's really needed (and I apologise for the hijack in your thread Rich, will remove it if you like), is to do a dyno run with a Zed both with and without an air filter in place to gauge exactly what you could reasonably expect from a performance filter in terms of power and filtration. Someone must have done a comparison at some point, maybe Abbey or Redline over here? Or someone in the US?
