  1. Chrome strips look really nice, I'd go with them
  2. I'm in a similar position, it does seem that JDM will offer an awful lot more choice for a £12-14k budget when the time comes. It's worth having a good search using the search tool as there are a ton of useful threads about the pros and cons etc.
  3. Hi, Sorry if this is a daft newbie question. But in my recent browsing through pistonheads and primarily on Autotrader that there appear to be a fair number of JDM cars which aren't identified as such. Is there a guide somewhere to spotting a JDM? I've had a look through the sticky post "The Differences" and that's been really useful. There are some obvious ones such as tiptronic=JDM but I've noticed other things like square number plate brackets, but I don't know if that could be a "style" decision by the owner, oh and things like the Z from the Fairlady Z left on the left-side of the back-end, or ads that make a big deal of folding mirrors. I just wondered if there was a post somewhere that I'd missed. Cheers.
  4. I'm sure to be in a similar pickle when it comes June and I'm looking for a car within my price range. My plan is to pretty much accept any spec I can get as long as I don't hate the colour. Given I'm gonna probably be looking trade as I wanna chop in my diesel weasel then I don't think I'll have much choice.
  5. From that page I'd say you were band F if your 350's registered before 23/3/06. And so for this year £210, and then when they go to the ones in then it's £440.
  6. Shh! Shame on you for even thinking that! I'm hoping that the prospect of £400+ road tax will offset any summer increase...either way the money doesn't exist till the end of May so it's no earlier than then. I'm 99.9% certain it will as both the Altea and the 156 ground out ever so slightly and the 350z has a slightly longer wheelbase and is bound to be lower. The other part of my bonus is going towards getting the front garden paved so part of the deal will be to reduce the harshness of the transition...in the meantime I'm looking to get artistic with a grinder
  7. Really reassuring to see all these owners who manage daily use. I average about 20k a year and the "sensible" family car will be in use by my wife for sensible family things I pretty much drive cars to destruction and then start all over again...managed to get my alfa 156 up to 145k before selling it on. You know you're beating the odds when even the log book runs out of space for service stamps
  8. I do 20k a year and if I do get a 350z in June then it'll be doing that mileage...so that said I'm screwed either way, if they do road pricing they'll get me on the number of miles I do.
  9. I always assume that owners clubs know a damn sight more about their cars than some dealer who makes his living banging out Micras to the mums I'm half hoping this new tax change (and the subsequent shafting of 350z owners) will soften prices further. Not that I wish misery on you guys...
  10. What is the CO2/Km for the original and revised spec cars? (apologies for my newbishness, dunno the proper names for em ) I don't doubt that it is in this lovely new highest bracket but I'm curious as to where it stands.
  11. Heh well I should get my bonus on May 25th (not that I'm counting the days or anything ) and then I've got to find one at a dealer who'll give me a decent p/x price for my current wheels. While I love cars, I've gotta say I hate buying and selling them. I just wish it was as simple as ordering from Amazon
  12. Absolutely, I've not even sat in a 350z yet, did a tour of all the 2nd hand car dealers in Bristol at the weekend and not one of them had one, and I'm not sure the Nissan dealer who's website I checked has one in either. I've no love at all for the Audi badge, but in its favour it is cheap as chips and since the new model came out there's a million-and-one of the first model ones for sale. I've sat in an S2000 and it felt pretty cramped in terms of elbow room, plus having not driven a RWD since my 1.4 Mk2 Escort when I was 17 I'm not sure that 240hp and no traction control is anything other than a recipe for disaster The way I look at it I've got one chance to make the right choice, won't have enough cash to be buying and selling. To be honest my biggest issue is that my driveway is heavily sloped and I've got clearance worries which may need to be worked out for any sports car.
  13. Hi! I'm in similar shoes...although I'll be swapping the joys of family MPV for the Zed hopefully
  14. Well I've posted a couple of other places so I should say hi here as well. Through stringent negotiations with the Mrs and a nice little bonus from work I should have somewhere in the region of £12-15k to spend on a 350z in June. At the moment the Zed is top of my shortlist of three up against the S2000 and the 225hp TT. But everything is telling me that the Zed's the way to go (the fact I'm registered here and on no Honda or Audi boards is a sign of that). So I probably won't be posting much other than to ask daft questions...I promise to use the search function before I do though! EDIT: Bit more car history info... Current car - Seat Altea 2.0TDi Sport DSG Previous cars - Alfa 156 selespeed (yes I love weird gearboxes), Vauxhall Calibra, Suzuki Swift GTi.
  15. It's painful...at 35 (tomorrow...happy bday to me) I've finally got the chance to buy a fun car for myself and the bloody carbon-dodgers are doing all they can to stop me getting a 350z!
  16. I'm not a Zed owner as yet but it's top of my car list for a summer purchase, this rejigging of the bands is going to be a factor as it would surprise me if my top 3 cars (the TT 1.8T 225, S2000 and 350Z) might end up in different bands.
