An amazing first time ride today, hike a bike up Grizedale pike behind Whinlatter, then one big descent along the ridge to Hobcarton End and down into the forest. It's a classic "hidden" off piste run at Whinlatter and it really did turn out to be a thriller. Had a few sketchy moments on the way down, but survived, and the final singletrack blast through the woods is great.
Only downside? about 1.5 hours of climbing and hiking to the top, then a mere 15 mins down, including pausing for a few snaps! Thats Lakes biking though I guess.
Heading up, the ride takes you along the ridge line in the distance, not the nearer track.
Top of the Red South, and hop over the fence to see the trudge ahead:
45 minutes of carrying later, the top!
