  1. Although I was never an Apple hardware fan, I appreciated his drive and determination to do things HIS way, and that even the most complicated technology should be able to seamlessly integrate with peoples lives. He was an ideas man, and the best thing about ideas is that they last for ever. Computing is worse off without him.
  2. Nice one Ian, looks the biz Must sort out a wee run sometime Did you get your tyres sorted in the end?
  3. Much want! Why can't they just do a 3.7 V6 Juke as a kind of Murano replacement? The Juke seems a lot more popular. I'd like to see it in the Dakar rally
  4. Phuket Pavilian on Union street opposite the theatre. couple of decent places on Leith walk too.
  5. Moved to general. No feeler threads in the for sale section please.
  6. Aside from you maybe needing a window reset, wind noise does increase exponentially from 120 to the limiter. At 155 it really is rather loud! Bet my aero kit doesn't help though.
  7. 4x100 on the new wheels, so maybe he had wobble bolts on the mk2?
  8. Yeah Stew, I had struggled to make sense of all the conflicting info with regards to that. I was quite hesitant at the scrap yard as i had no tools to try them on either. But I've tried one on at home and it fits fine It's supposed to be 4x98 on the old ones and 4x100 on the GP isn't it? So either these aftermarket alloys are a 4x100 pcd to start with, or the tolerances in the wheels holes are quite large! I will go to the garage now and get the vernier gauge on them!
  9. 60 and 80 grit briefly for the worst of it, then 120. Everything else keyed with 240 ready for primer. If you can get the high build primer to take out minor scratches get that, I couldn't see any in my local Helfrauds. Normal clear coat on top yes.
  10. Well me and Chris had a good ride yesterday, despite the monsoon conditions! Yes you heard that right, while it continues to be 28 degrees down south we got absolutely soaked! Sadly there's no pics as my phones not waterproof!
  11. Can I do it with rattle cans?
  12. Feel free to have a few guesses..... http://www.askmid.com/
  13. Love the colour of course, just needs some Rays now
  14. Yep, i've got 40 miles of infrequently gritted A, B and fell road to get to work, so hopefully these will come in handy for piece of mind even if we don't get snow. I'm often setting off for work at 5.30am, so you don't even know the surface is icy until you see it glittering in your headlights!
  15. After getting sick of seeing Fiat 15" alloys go for £200 on ebay, I had all but given up getting some winter (and smaller/more comfortable) wheels for the Punto. But then a mate at work tipped me off that there was a mk2 punto in a local scrapyard with 15" alloys on it. So, a quick visit and a mere £40 later, I had a set of TSW alloys with knackered low profile tyres on. A couple of them had some big kerbing, so I thought i'd give them a bit of a DIY refurb. Amazingly, the first one has come out ok, so i've started on the second (so I can have each side of the car the same colour! ). Also purchased some new Dunlop Wintersport 3D's with a nice comfy 60 profile from Camskill for about 65 each I think. Pics! Bit Chavvy, and kerbed up: Break out the wet+dry. Didn't have any filler, but managed to remove 90% of the scratching just by sanding. Masked and primed, then left to dry overnight: Flatted down primer with 1500 grit and sprayed up with silver. Was never going to pick the right colour by chance so randomly settled on Rover Quicksilver! It's a really nice slightly satin silver actually. Much more modern. Finally clearcoated. Doesn't look too shabby: New versus old:
  16. Thats two Richie B's now, how confusing!
  17. Haha, not up here Immy. Back to grey skys again up north! Rain last night, and now I'm just waiting for Chris and Amanda to show up at the house for a good flogging
  18. Frans looking forward to her early start tomorrow for Wales. Plenty of shouting at the TV this morning too though!
  19. If you read the small print, any increase in the motorway speed limit would almost certainly come hand in hand with increased inforcement too, and for that reason... Ahhm Oot! Wish they would stop chasing the headlines and just increase driving standards/tests etc.
  20. Someone was a wee bit ill today (so he said ) and todays ride didn't happen unfortunately. (I think he's scared!) Fingers crossed for tomorrow!
