  1. I think 48mpg is pretty good on a new derv engine. my 1.9 punto gets 45 on the rubbish twisty 1 hour route to work, but even on the motorway it won't get past 50mpg. It's maybe just the aerodynamics of the thing.
  2. I robbed some 6x9s from a Cavalier in a scrap yard to put in the back of my first Nissan Micra. It was only when I changed cars years later that I noticed all my cds sounded totally different. The answer? the Cav speakers didn't have any tweeters in them, so I'd been listening to all my music with the top 25% of the frequencies cut off! The bass was great though...
  3. A well driven 182 will show the Zed a clean pair of heels on a twisting track. The zed will pull a bit back on straights above 60mph. It's the weight you see!
  4. Nice little ride around Dent today to shake out the ice camp stiffness. The weather has apparently sorted itself out for a few days as conditions were pretty good, with the going somewhat "good to soft". A nice little tail wind made coming home a pleasure too. A little treat on the way back Also, a very romantic view of good old Whinlatter from Sam Needham, taken at about 3x the speed I normally go round
  5. Well, one corner of it anyway I wish I could dirt jump like a feral youth :''(
  6. It's booked! Better start thinking about getting some riding in I suppose
  7. Shame about the weather, some nice cars though
  8. Hehe, not quite Graham. I went with Ian, one of my mates from the running club. Do you think Fran would be daft enough to go on a trip like this? She's far to sensible!
  9. Yeah, something like that. Not even a phone signal where we were. After we set up camp, we watched people winter climbing on Great End.
  10. Allegedly, its supposed to be a "2". Non-allegedly, its illegal. I'd change it post-haste.
  11. Its February, its freezing outside, and the weathers balls. What can you do? Go Camping! An overnight trip around the Scafell massif, starting in Eskdale at the bottom of Hardknott pass, then heading up over Great Moss beneath Scafell. Climbed up to Eskdale Hause and then dropped down slightly to Sprinkling Tarn to find a likely looking camp site. Shall we camp on an island in the middle of a frozen tarn? Why not! More wilderness today on the way back to the walk end and the Pub!
  12. I can't remember ever seeing an advert for one with less than 6 figure mileage.
  13. Learned from the Clio Trophy then? I thought clio trophys had Sachs? Think that might be it, my bad.
  14. Advert written in CAPS LOCK would automatically have me looking elsewhere before I even got to the cat d part.
  15. Minion on the rear = draaaaggg. Especially on grass or tarmac. It is a DH tyre though, so not really for the road! As previously mentioned, Maxxis do tyres for everything if your pockets are deep enough.
  16. Theres no view that will give you posts after your previous session. View unread is the closest thing you'll get, with view your posts telling you of updates to threads you've contributed on. The only other option is to click "mark forums read" on the index at the end of each session.
  17. Not much road bashing to do here. I'm currently running a 42a Highroller front and 60 HR rear on the trek, and 42 minions on the hardtail as it sees a lot of slate and Whinlatter in the winter and you need as much grip as possible. It's always going to be a trade-off, just try putting your Nics on, but I find them to be poor round here.
  18. Rather ungentlemanly of you to post such a photo. Especially at this time of year!
  19. Oh dear boys, what happened there? O Rly owl is right.
  20. Good effort braving the conditions James, I've had today off with the bad weather, hopefully it'll remain a bit crisp for next weekend when I finish. In other news, I can't wait to go here; we stayed in a local B&B a couple of years back and the owner mentioned that it had been proposed, well now its being build and IMO will help north Wales become the best trail center outside of Scotland. http://www.pinkbike.com/news/Blaenau-Ffestiniog-DH-Centre-coming-this-summer-2012.html A perfect weekend would be here, Penmachno, and then Coed-y-Brenin.
  21. Spotted a brave soul parked in Tescos this morning. Hope you survived intact!
