  1. A modern well controlled 140mm fork like that Fox is better than any number of 160+mm forks from even a handful of years ago. The five is built with steep stuff in mind, it's long, low, and slacker than most trail center type bikes, and you could always put some 36s on later if you manage to feel under-biked (unlikely).
  2. Well I thought the '09 frames had the same HA as the newer ones when i bought it, but no. So this is a good fix and a lot cheaper than a new frame.
  3. Full sus is cheating after all eh? The spuds are by request, but we shall see how long that lasts. I dare say it'll be a good choice for the PdS though, and she's unlikely to be getting all Gnar!
  4. Yep, its for the lady! It's kind of the womens version of the Fuel, but the top tube is way lower and the rear leverage ratio is different. Its 120mm, Fox both ends and a mix of SLX and Deore bits. It's very nice but it will be a shame to get it dirty and chipped The bits of the frame that aren't painted powder blue have a lovely brushed effect on them. It'll be wasted on Fran really! Official first dirty ride later in the week no doubt. In other news; Theres still a couple of things to sort out before the alps. Number 1: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=62097 And maybe some wider bars too!
  5. Good luck with that! You're not the only one on the new bike thing this week though
  6. Most super unleaded is 97, as stated above, Tesco and Shell do 99. It's all fine
  7. It's always been like that, but you're now paranoid enough to notice. HTH!
  8. It makes me want to cry. But its a cash cow for taste-free zones east of here, and If it props up stuff like this....
  9. The Five is much more gravity orientated than the Zesty though, both in build and geometry. The Enduro's very popular, one of the lads i used to ride with had one with triple clamp forks, it was a bit of a bulldozer! It's a lot of bike for £1200 thats for sure, you might want to enquire on the spec levels of the forks, the Vans will probably suit the character of the bike better although you might need to budget for a different spring. For your all day rides, it might be worth getting the Floats and saving a pound or two? Also, had the first ride of the new forks today at Whinners, they're not night and day different (as they weren't bad to start with!), but the damping is more finessed, and it copes better with general trail chatter and i can dial in some anti-dive on the brakes now too.
  10. Spicy is the equivalent of the Five, and the Remedy for Trek, with the Scratch being more like the Alpine 160. Of course everyone wants a Five, I ended up with a remedy because Five owners want too much money for them!
  11. Can't help with the noise, but normal practice is to change the flywheel at the same time as the clutch.
  12. This for me. The Jordann area is lovely, and loads of cool wee shops if you scout around. Rijksmuseum to see the Night Watch Personally, I avoided the Red light-Dam Square-Train station triangle for the most part, as its waaaay too expensive and too busy. Once you step outside that, its wonderful!
  13. Not once i've been down the bottom of the red south about 14 times anyway.... The hardest thing to remember with these dials, it that you are adjusting the damping, not the compression and rebound rate.
  14. Maybe not, but it appears to be a completely stupid car and imho lacks the character and gorgeous sound of the vette. Not to mention the tuneability. People would rather have silly cars like the gtr under the pretence they're built well, how that can be the case with the passenger collision system and transmission issues it had i'm not sure. One thing the GTR certainly doesn't lack is tuneability! Passenger collision system is a EU rules stipulation, and is nothing to do with the build quality. The GTR is also a brand new car, unlike the Vette, which has the same basic design from (insert decade here).
  15. I'm saying £1 to win on the horse called Hard Disk Failure. Suspect you may need to give it to your local tame IT bod.
  16. Its one louder RLC gets you basic compression damping adjustment, RC2 has separate high and low speed compression damping adjustment I'll have to go to whinlatter next week and repeat the south loop a few times to sort the settings out.
  17. Well, they're baaaack! Mojo certainly pay attention to detail for your money, not only are they decked out with new stickers, but they came back with a new brake hose guide, and even a new star nut! They even smell brand new. Oh, and the fork upgrade was to RC2, not RLC as I thought, so separate high and low speed compresion damping plus rebound. They'll certainly keep me busy for a while! You sure these are the same ones I sent??? Settings... Lots of settings...
  18. Theres only one "glazed duck" in that first picture, a quality scottish tan
  19. I think it's just a characteristic of the pads Ian, the DS2500(?) aren't supposed to be for road use after all.
  20. Good to see the zorst is sorted Dom, mini meet soon I think, just something localish eh?
  21. Allow me to re-quote myself : http://www.350z-uk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=34166
  22. On the box again! Excellent work as always mate Can you do the trusty Biro tracheotomy next time?
  23. Is it the genuine (and correct) hope adapter for that brake?
