  1. I believe Adrian imports all those polish sausages and goodies for his fellow ex-pats.
  2. I'll put 1x11 on the 456 when Shimano makes a full setup for under £400. No, it is 24t and 38t rings on the front. Shim have dropped the 22t ring on the new trail doubles, they thought it pointless with 34t on the back. You can still get it on the triple and "29er friendly" 22/30/40 M785 and the Saint double.
  3. That's bob on that is. Wheels are a perfect match IMO.
  4. Just blind, it was Phil that found it while out exploring. I have a feeling I may have to go up there with some tools this year and do some brush cutting and improvements. Nothing major, but the undergrowth is crazy at this time of year. Yes it's 10 speed. The price of entry to get a clutch mech. I went for the bashless 24+38 XT double and 11-36 cassette in the end, the lowest gear is a few percent harder than 22x24 but I should cope. Hopefully wont catch the big ring on anything for at least a fortnight.... Shimano already does 11 for road bikes, so not sure why it's such a big deal, it still needs a new freehub body. The only real game changer is having dinner plate cassettes for more people to run 1X. People who haven't got the legs to do steep climbs all day or need to do a few miles between hills (i.e. me) are still better served by a 2X setup.
  5. You'd better get the 27" version then, as it climbs and descends 200% faster despite being only 5% bigger than an "old fashioned" 26" wheel! Well the legs are sore today I tell you. Had a fairly gentle pootle round the backyard last night with Phil, discovered a new piece of singletrack on the hill, despite having ridden the area for over ten years! As if to reinforce the pointlessness of being marketed components/wheels on the dream of making you "faster", I rode the hardail last night and Phil had his Five as usual. Of course he was much faster on the descents, slower on the steep climbs, but did going faster translate to more fun? Probably not. I was certainly being thoroughly occupied dodging the bumps and trying to stay on the bike. The work rate stays the same, only your focus changes. Nearly on the top of Dent Marketing mans nightmare: 26", 9 speed, AND a hardtail. Early birthday present this morning, updating the Remedy for Big September:
  6. It's not about the bike Yeah, Gosforth 10K road race, some good pics on the Facebook page. Great turn out from the Triers, we had so many nearly one in four entrants was in our club! We always do well on the womens prizes, several Vet categories and first womens team. https://www.facebook.com/gosforth.cumbria/media_set?set=a.152066265001590.1073741863.100005946516429&type=1
  7. Sounds like its bought already Gosforth 10k race killed me last night, not good to have a race as your first run in three weeks! I supposed to be taking it easy for the weekend (not a good forecast BTW!).
  8. OK, I PM'ed someone back as I thought they were first, but I got the times wrong as they were only minutes apart. If you want them they are yours, I haven't agreed payment with them yet. I've PM'ed you the payment details. They don't call me Adrian!
  9. We have the basics at home; helmet, harness, chalk bag, belay plate, some quickdraws for leading, and some carabiners. Thats all you really need for indoors, and of course you can get a lot of benefit with even less gear by doing bouldering.
  10. Defo look for local clubs, it can be a great craic. Plus it gets you access to loads of second hand gear usually - Just go careful, as of course a lot of it is rather safety critical! Main things to avoid second hand are helmets and ropes.
  11. HEL braided brake line kit for the Brembo equipped 350Z. As New, unopened box. £50 delivered (standard parcels)
  12. Shop can do a basic fork service fine, but a full strip down (maybe once a year) will have to go to a specialist like Mojo, TFTuned etc. The prices are indeed crazy now that carbon fibre bikes are here. The next couple of years will defo be the year of the £10K bike from a mainstream manufacturer
  13. Thought we were'nt waiting that long? Whats the craic for October then?
  14. As much as I agree with some of the review points, especially the price point, WhatCar are the saddest bunch of cretins to ever be left in charge of a magazine.
  15. Yeah, the new alp is just that wee step up I'd like over the Remedy, especially after the weight loss. BikeTreks Demo day next year then... I've never been totally anti-clip Christopher, I advocate their use for the three C's; Commuting, Cross country, and Competitions. Regular trail riding and descending with your mates you may as well wear flats, as there's no time gain to be had. (Unless i'm riding with Blommers!)
  16. HJah, you've done it now! Chris wont be able to reply at the minute, as he'll be too busy reaching for his wallet Think I'd be in your BFs camp, but then I need a bit of beef for smashing down the Lakes. It's on my short list for next bike anyway.
  17. CV's Would have to be via me, as it's only advertised internally ATM through referral.
  18. You rang? Big 40mile XC yesterday, got some serious cramp in both legs coming down Black Sail pass, but think it might have just been a combination of dehydration and having my knee pads on too long? Anyway, have been trialing some Shimano DX clipless pedals and AM45 shoes, and so far, so good. They don't feel as pricarious as bare cleats and road shoes. Not totally decided on doing the upcoming comps with them, but i'll probably wear them for the Isle of Man and see how it goes. Bit on the heavy side compared to my Vaults though! Add them to the dropper and I've probably added over a kilo! So now I turn my ire onto Chris' bike choice... Spesh - Proprietary shock total deal breaker for me, no thanks. Bronson - You can have a 26" one, it's called a Blur Carbon and there's a few about if you hunt them down. Personally I do like SC as a company, but for the prices they could at least be making them in the USA, not the far east. Yeti - Nice looking, still actually making 26", at least for the next 12 months. I wonder how the Switch pivot stands up to grime and neglect?
  19. Last time I looked there was still a lot of folk struggling for work, so I thought I'd post up some wind turbine technician vacancies that we have available. Onshore Techs required for these locations: Alness Dalswinton Durham Peterborough Wales Goole The normal applicant profile is time-served electrical or mechanical, and if you have working at height experience, so much the better. Normal shifts onshore are mon-fri, and normally OT at weekends. I'm not sure on the current salary, but 28-30K+ if you do a bit of OT sounds about right.
  20. Boo! The lure of the bike van, I'm resisting. Sticking with the two car extravagance!
  21. Excellent Pics Andrew
