  1. Judging by some of the ages on here, you would never guess there's a recession on!
  2. Oh yeah, you know what time it is! Part1: Part2: The start of another 10 off, so time to get back into it! Local loop today, 2.5hrs. Tea and Biccies to finish.

    GOOD DRIVING

Good weather for it at the minute. I came back over Hartside from Durham yesterday, took a pic, you can see all the way to scotland:
  4. I went with MSV, and they were very good with black flagging nobs etc.
  5. lol, good plate. No dodgy spacing or messing about required
  6. Any why we are mostly jealous! I always tell people that I love my Zed because there's nothing else I would have that doesn't cost twice as much (i.e. a Porker). (edit: Having said that, some Lotii do appeal!)
  7. See the Track day section: http://www.350z-uk.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=36 1) Car is fine standard, although a pad upgrade is nice if you want to do more than 6 laps at a time. Keep an eye on pressures and temps as you would any car. 2) Probably. They will crash first though! The thought of wreaking your pride and joy will hopefully discourage you from pushing too hard. It did to me, but I still had a fantastic day.
  8. So happy to polarise opinion! I think they are very elegant from a physics and engineering point of view, there are of course issues with NIMBYism and such, the problem being that it's impossible to extract energy from the planet without some kind of impact, and a visual impact is surely the least of those. The land based ones do cost a fraction of the offshore installations though, around one sixth! They therefore pay for themselves in short order. By far the biggest issue is the lack of energy storage in the grid, whoever solves that one will be very rich indeed, ironing out the peaks and troughs in supply and demand would save billions of pounds. All we have storage-wise at the minute is a couple of hydro electric power plants that pump water back up to the reservoir during the night. Enercon turbines are real black sheep of the wind family, not only do they use permanent magnet generators (using lots of "rare-earth" neodymium) but some models actually have a small drive motor to slowly turn the blades when there's no wind, to make them look like they're doing something! Especially effective when compared to the nearby competitors farm, which would be stood still.
  9. Having a spell over at Crook in county Durham. Sooooo glad I don't have a office job! 10 days off starting Thursday too, hope the weather hangs around.
  10. Hi Ed, nice to see you on here. I'm looking forward to another track day at some point too, wahey!
  11. My girlfriend has a Spesh Allez for work. It's quite nice, but could do with some front mounts for mudguards for commuting duty. As a pure road bike though, it would be fine, quite light for the money too. Oh and don't forget pics: http://www.350z-uk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=38473 We accept pics and craic from the dark side too! In short, no. but you should be very comfortable doing at least half or two thirds distance. If you can do that, you should be able to push the extra on the day just by going at a more moderate pace than your training rides.
  12. Do you have it hanging up when not in use? I lost some fluid from my front that way. Could be a perished seal also, if you are a bit unpaticular about washing (like me) salt and dirt can make the seals go faster. If you go back a page or two, you'll see I got mine re-bled for a few quid.
  13. I barely managed to trigger the TC an Cadwell the other week in the dry, on a good surface the mechanical grip in considerable!
  14. E10 is being widely introduced in germany - http://www.deutschebp.de/sectiongenericarticle.do?categoryId=9036506&contentId=7067384 I also noticed that BP do 102 octane fuel in germany, and Shell have V-power racing at 100RON, Why can't we have that?
  15. Whinlatter last Sunday with my mate Phil (pictured). Unlike this Sunday, the weather was great!
  16. After the late gains on SOU and RRLs previous efforts I'm now £60 up overall in my wee portfolio. It took a good dip over the last few weeks, what with the middle east and Japan disasters, but back in black now so I'm Maybe a bit soon to start browsing mountain bike websites (for that is the goal), but heading in the right direction. It certainly wasn't earning anything under the mattress! I can see how it gets very addictive (and fun) though.
